I usually stop here either on my way to Asheville, it breaks up the ride nicely, or before climbing at Bigfoot Climbing gym. I have gotten both the Poe and the Hemingway lattes and they are delicious! I've also had some of the dessert pastries from Ugly Duckling - the mocha espresso cookie and the cheddar bacon scone. These treats are tasty and perfect snacking size. The interior of this store is very cozy and there are endless reading nooks throughout the space. The first time I enjoyed my coffee and snack outside but this past weekend, I sat upstairs. Both times have been very enjoyable - one minor note, they closed early on Sunday, at noon instead of 3pm, to prepare holiday decorations. Unfortunately, I arrived at 11:30am so I didn't get to stay and read as long as I originally planned. Wish they would have posted on their social media (I looked them up on Instagram before visiting again)! Other than that little hiccup, this is a must-visit in Morganton!

They have plenty of seating where you can spend some time reading and relax. I usually come here for Christian greeting cards or to gift someone a Bible (they have an option to engrave in the store and gift wrap). Parking is easy and free in front of the store. The only suggestions I would make is to improve their coffee quality and sell baked goods so people can hang out and eat, open later hours in the evening and host events for the community. Customer service is nice and they gift wrap for a small fee which is convenient. If you're curious about a Christian author and don't want to buy the book online then you can check it out here first. Buy it in the store and support local.

The process was super easy. I went partly in hopes of finding a used copy of a novel my Book Club has been wanting to read, but isn't at the library. I was shocked/overjoyed to find TWO copies, both of which I purchased on the spot. Great value for sure. Can't wait to go back & browse their selection more fully when I have more time. I had never been to this book store until the sale. It's small, but there's such a good selection of used books. The used books are also in really good shape. The team member on site the day we went was GREAT! He took the time to assist us in looking for books on our lists and giving us recommendations for other books to read. I also like the idea that you can bring the books back that you purchase, for a percentage off on your next book. Check them out, explore the selection they have, and support local!

The employees are always the sweetest and always make sure to welcome you with a big bright smile on their faces! They have an incredible selection of book in stock! You can get lost in there for hours just looking at the book provided. They have a bit of everything for an extremely low price. Their downstairs has many amazing books that will be about half of the original price. The upstairs (my favorite place) is full of every genre you can imagine and for only $5 they have hundreds of hardcovers books for $5 as well. This is definitely a 10/10 business! I liked the name so much because I was the type of person who used malaprops a good amount. It's extra charming because you're able to order something from their cafe while reading your book. This spot is deceptively huge. The different sections are very intentional and beautifully organized. I had an especially great time looking at the "Beautiful Books" section this visit. I ended up falling in love with a short stories book by Chips Hardy that I took home. I also adored their graphic t-shirts here. I am not a big t-shirt person, but always want more graphic tees, so was so excited to love this one so much. I had a really special experience with one of the booksellers here on my recent visit too. I could not find The Enchanted April in the fiction section and when I asked, one of the booksellers got really excited about the author and that book. She passionately told me how wonderful the book was. We were sad to see it was sold out, but suggested I check a bookstore a block over. I love this bookstore and think everyone should make it a stop on an Asheville trip.

The bookstore portion is really well curated with a nice "local" section featuring local writers and interest. I love checking out this section when I travel and there was a ton to dig into here. They also have a good sized kid's section most notable thing is how many books they offer with autographed copies. That means they seem to bring in a ton of writers which is so exciting for the Asheville community. Speaking of community, I peeked at their events calendar and it looks like they have a ton of book clubs in a variety of different genres that meet regularly. So no matter your interest (romance, science fiction, mystery, horror, etc) you can find a meetup. Some are hosted in store but others in local breweries, libraries, and other third spaces in the area. Excellent offerings across the board!
