Worst experience with urgent care - thanks to Dr. Dorian Woods and his team. Came to the urgent care due to a terrible sharp pain in the throat due to strep infection - a week before my son caught it in childcare and pediatrician diagnosed him. So I needed a dr's visit to confirm that I have strep as well and get cheap antibiotic prescription. I waited for more than1 hr despite the visit was scheduled, Dr Woods spent a full 1 min in my room, barely looked at me and sent nurse to take swabs. Despite I told him that I most likely have strep throat as my son had, he submitted swabs to all analysis panels possible - and they checked my samples for HIV, gonnorea, all types of STDs and all types of flu - to show, surprise-surprise , everything negative except strep. As a visit result I got prescription for 5$ of amoxicilin 2 days later and a bill for 1000$ for useless tests - and on top of that a separate 200$ bill for personal 5 min with Dorian Woods. The provider is a fraud - he clearly has an agreement with labs to send them samples for useless tests just to rip off extra money from insurance and patients. Will never visit this care again and file compliance wherever possible read more

****You will not get medical attention here.**** This is a zero-star review. But Yelp won't allow it. "Immediate Care" failed on both counts. It's a lie. They don't "care" as the name implies, and the wait in the exam room is extensive. My son had been suffering for two weeks, taking over-the-counter pain medication that didn't help. By the time he agreed to seek medical attention, he couldn't even drive himself. I was in the waiting room, my son was in the exam room. We waited 2-hours for a 2-minute doctor chat, then he got the brush off. The doctor was dismissive, did not take the time to carefully examine or listen to his symptoms before sending my son on his way. No antibiotics were prescribed for (two-weeks of) sharp ear pain radiating to his face, pain so bad he could not drink, eat, or sleep. When my son came out of the exam room, he told me, "they did nothing. He said to follow-up with an ear, nose, and throat specialist." Getting an appointment with a specialist takes several weeks. I was beyond angry and asked to speak to the physician. Instead, I was told by a nurse (not her fault) who had a big bouncer assistant at her side, "the doctor didn't see any redness." The great and powerful Oz has spoken. He was too self-important to talk to me. Doctor Woods is in the wrong profession--he should have a job where humanity is not required. We are getting a second opinion right now. One hour has passed since the horrible treatment received at Vernon Hills Advocate Condell Urgent care. The doctor prescribed wrong medicine and all the nurse was telling me was that they have to try to see it works. WOW ! If you don't have $1000 laying around, do not come here. Simply came in for pink eye. Waited for 2+ hours for the doctors to spend 3 minutes with me confirming I had pink eye, wrote a prescription and sent me away. Finally, received a bill of $858 from them. Insurance was provided too them, but they would only bill them for my deposit of a visit. The actual 2 minute conversation I had with a doctor was worth $607. Absolutely terrible. Greedy. I am rating this place a 5 star i have brought my son twice to this immediate care and the staff has been nice and caring with us the wait time was about an hour i was here when they had 7 other patients in line so i knew from the start there was going to be a wait the front desk lady made it easy from processing my insurance to getting my 8 year old in a room asap to get an ankle injury checked out ! What a bunch of GREEDY profiteering PIMPS. Called to see if COVID testing we're available. Was told that I would have to have and would be charged for an 'urgent care doctors visit', after which the doctor 'would decide whether I needed the test'. Somehow CVS and Walgreens need no doctor to insert themselves into the process. All they need you to do is fill out a survey. And it's FREE. I imagine Advocate charges somewhere near $300 for the doctor's 'ok'. I mean - seriously: if you have symptoms or have been around someone with symptoms (and there's about 7 cold-like symptoms that qualify), what's the doctor going to say? 'No, you can't be tested'?? BS! To do so would be grotesquely irresponsible. Clearly Advocate is more concerned with MAKING A PROFIT off of COVID than helping to stop the spread. If COVID testing is not a part of your business model, fine. Don't provide the test. If your going to offer it don't create such obviously superficial justifications for RIPPING PEOPLE OFF. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE care and bedside manner. I did the pre check in and still waited for about 45 minutes to be brought back. Once I was back, the nurse came to collect a urine sample and said the doctor would be in shortly. Over an HOUR AND A HALF LATER,, no one had been in my room so I ventured into the hall to make sure I wasn't forgot about. Was told I would be next, waited 20 more minutes. Doc finally came in, did not even introduce himself, and was in my room for about 25 seconds total. THEN I was told that I needed to provide another urine sample because my first one was dumped out without getting culture. And then I was locked in because it was closed and had to have someone unlock the door. Absolutely horrible bedside manner, no one checked in on me the entire time, and the doctor did not even say hello when he walked in the room. Will never never never be coming back here. So disappointed and angry. If you can't do your job and can't smile and say hi then get a new one that doesn't involve patient care. This place is THE worst. Do NOT come here. I made an appointment for Immediate Care for 1:30 and arrived on time but waited until 2:30 to even get checked in. NOT be admitted, I mean, get checked in with my insurance and id, etc. I complained about my appointment and they admitted me almost immediately after my complaining but all they did was check my vitals, check my blood, and urine and tell me I'm fine. I was fainting and puking. Clearly I'm not fine. They told me to go to the emergency room instead to see what's wrong. Are they serious!?!?!?!? Why are they even open!? DO NOT GO TO AN ADVOCATE CONDELL ACUTE CARE CENTER IF YOU DO NOT HAVE INSURANCE!! We have a foreign visitor who appears to have whooping cough, she has no insurance. I just called the facility in Vernon Hills, which I have used many times in the past with great results, and the receptionist can give you NO IDEA AS TO WHAT IT WILL COST! She doesn't know what the facility will charge, although she knows a minimum fee of $150 will be charged, she has no idea what the outsourced physician's fee will be, or what basic tests like xrays will be. So, I could run up a bill to $700-$800. So I called Target's Clinic, which I had used once with great result, and they charge a flat $75 for a RN to listen to your chest with a stethoscope and she can write a prescription. The Acute Care facility will use a doctor but I have absolutely no idea what the charge will be. Perhaps if enough of us complain to these giant hospital chains they will respond to us without insurance and create a price list. Hurry up Obamacare! read more

On 7/13 I went to this care center scared as I had taken eight pregnancy tests and had four positive and four negative, I called my doctors office several times and no call back so I figured to make sure I find out sooner than later this place could test me and get me proper results, I WAS TURNED AWAY BY THE MD WHO REFUSED TO SEE ME!!! I am astounded at the lack of empathy and compassion and disgusted that anyone can be turned away. This place the horrid, and the MD who refused to see a patient who is scared , alone, and in need of serious results should be fired. read more

When you're on your deathbed for days and days and your dad picks you up from the city to take you to the doctor, you don't really have too much influence on where you're taken. All I said was, "NO EMERGENCY ROOM!" So off we went to the suburban version of the urgent care center... Condell's Acute Care Center. This joint has been around at least since my high school days and it hasn't changed much. Same atrociously bitchy, um, female (no lady) who works the reception area, run-down waiting area, minimally private exam areas (no doors, just a sheet between you and your neighbor) and reasonably friendly physician on duty. The doctor was very nice and ran a thorough amount of tests to determine what was ailing me. I felt confident in the care they provided me, and that's all you can really ask for in a situation where you're not seeing your primary care physician. It's nice to know that there are urgent care centers around for those of us who don't necessarily have a primary care physician (I know, I know. I have one now, thanks) and need to see a doctor right away but aren't bleeding to death and therefore don't require an emergency room visit. If you have some kind of virus, flu, etc. and you need to see a doc, like, today, it's not a bad option. read more

I had a $40 copay expensive plan in 2017 and was assured by my insurance company that there is no way I have to pay anything on top of that. We paid our $40 and received the services (no complaints about the medical services). Then we were billed multiple times: 1) by the facility 2) by the doctor 3) by the imaging services. The bills were with (according to the insurance company) different addresses and for different services as if they tried to obfuscate the fact that it was a single urgent care visit. I didn't pay the bills (mind that we paid our $40 at the time of the visit) and a few days ago received a collector's agency notice for one of these bills. Nice! I was happy with my care, and especially with the ability to schedule an appointment online. BE ADVISED: financially, the hospital (Advocate Condell) treats this similarly to its Emergency Department. On my insurance plan, this means that I was billed like I had visited the Emergency Department, rather than a normal doctor (meaning I had to pay out of my deductible, rather than pay a co-pay; a $100 difference). I spent a lot of time on the phone with the hospital and my insurance company, and I don't think they are necessarily wrong to bill this way, given the services offered, but I just want people to be aware that this is NOT, strictly speaking, what we would normally think of as an Urgent Care clinic, financially speaking. read more

I was having a dull earache and came here. Waiting room and front desk, shabby. Receptionist and check in, OK. Ushered in immediately and get the obligatory BP & temp check. Waited for 15 minutes for a Dr. who was ESL and he spent 3 minutes with me. Then waited another 15 for my script and left. Now the fun part.....this place bills separately for the "facility" and the "physician". I got the first bill for the facility which was around $150. Paid my part and was done. Then, got another bill from a company in Florida for the 3 minute doctor visit...$700!! I went ballistic and wrote them about the outrageousness of this, and their attitude is "well, you only have to pay your portion so what does it matter what we charge your insurance?" They reduced my portion from $160 to $85. This place is a perfect example of whats amiss in our health care system, where you have places like this that have hazy ownership and free agent employees, and feel free to charge prices that are disconnected from any business cost or reality. I have wonderful insurance, but I still expect some accounting of what my company is being charged for. Needless to say I won't go back and neither should you. If you are bleeding or broken, go to an emergency room. If you have a minor ailment, go somewhere else. read more

Acts like a prompt care facility - bills as an emergency room. I went here to avoid what I thought would be higher cost of going to the hospital emergency room. They billed as an emergency room visit which means I am on the hook for a $300 copay to my insurance company (emergency room visits have a much, much higher copay). To irrigate and bandage my wound they charged just shy of $1,000 for the "facility" and then there was a separate bill from the doctor (who spent less than 5 minutes with me) for just under $800. My husband went in to get antibiotics for his sinus infection. The doctor took 2 min. to look at him, no tests. It cost him $287!!! after insurance took off almost $750. The bill from the doctor along was $180! ($716 w/o insurance) Wow she must perform miracles to be so expensive! :) Don't go there, it's a rip-off.
