I've been to this airport several times and the security checkpoints always run smoothly and efficiently. The airport is clean, much cleaner than other airports I've been to. In terminal A, there are a few restaurants that you can sit down and enjoy a meal, and there are a few coffee shops and gift shops to buy souvenirs or frozen food to take back. Overall this airport is great, clean, and has a few options to satiate your hunger. read more

Absolute corruption! Be careful and use caution! The airport police in conjunction with immigration tired to bribe us for 500! I've been all over Mexico and never experienced this. It was quite disappointing! Needless to say they didn't get any money but they are corrupted people! They should be held accountable! Straight up scammers. Use extreme caution here! read more

Visited only as a lengthy layover Aeropuerto Internacional de Monterrey is the fourth largest airport in Mexico, and although efficient enough for clearing customs the layout is frankly random while seating defines uncomfortable. Like most places an arrival after 10:00pm finds all but a couple chain eateries closed while staff is minimal. Lounges open at 5:00am and are pretty basic, everything else is "airport pricing" without much local flavor. read more

MTY This is the fourth largest airport in Mexico. They regularly accept international flights to and from Mexico. I was none too impressed with the efficiency of this airport. They tell you to go stand in line with these documents, then they hand you back the documents, and have them checked again, in another line, and then again. Yes, my documents are still the same since the airport employees checked them 15 minutes ago. The shopping in this airport is pretty lackluster. Expensive snacks. A few souvenirs of Monterey stuff. There's an AmEx lounge that ain't bad! The airport lacks any local flavor- no art to speak of. No wonderful restaurants. Meh. The airport looks like it needs a deep clean. Security was a bit overzealous. read more

I am very confuse why this airport is being described as very modern, clean and big because that was not my experience when i visited. I flew in from DFW in here to visit family. I got off the runway and followed directions to border control and it was essentially in a basement. The signange was very small and I accidently ended up in the foreigner line instead of the Mexican citizen line because the sings they had were so small. I got out of line to use the bathroom and it was so small I could not get my roll in carry on through the bathroom stall door. There were only 2 stalls in the bathroom at the international processing lobby. The bathroom was not even clean neithee, the trashcan was knocked over and it looked like the roll of toilet paper got wet from possible mopping. The stall was so small I could not fit there comfortably. They had a poinsettia left over from Christmas as part of the bathroom decor haha. I finally got out of there and got in the line for Mexican citizens and was in and out of that line in 4 minutes. There was a lot of construction going on on my way to luggage claim. So I see they are trying to improve but they got a long way to go. It's honestly embarrassing saying this is the international airport because Monterrey will be hosting a few games in the FIFA world cup coming up in 2026. The restaurants they had were nice but I did not eat there, the waiting areas they had were clean. Maybe all the dirty and construction is going on pass the security gate and on the outside to the public it looks nice, modern and clean but thats not the way I saw it. Airport is really nice for the most part. Cons: 1. Super limited in terms of drink and food options. Basically a few fast food joints. Naturally everything is overpriced 2. WiFi is super spotty, it's fine when you're connected but I had to keep reauthenticating Pros: 1. Very modern, lots of charging ports and the bathrooms are spotless 2. Super helpful staff, I left my wallet on the plane and the guy who helped me was so unbelievably nice 3. Clean. Modern. Easy to navigate. Quick security lanes. AeroMexico lounge. AMEX Centurion Lounge. Limited food options otherwise, but the Guy Fieri burger stop was a pleasant surprise. There are also some high end shops, such as Tumi and Lacoste. About a 30-35 minute drive to/from the city center. I cannot speak for the airport WiFi. read more

This is the airport that I flew into on my trip to the beautiful city of Monterrey. Knowing that Monterrey is a financial powerhouse in Mexico, I was not surprised to see how clean, modern, and well-run this airport is. Once nice touch to this airport is the neon orange sliding doors leading to the outside. The orange color is a reflection of the recently-elected governor or Nuevo Leon, whom I know personally. My buddy picked me up just outside the terminal, and I was on my way to explore this fine city. On my way back, my buddy dropped me off in Terminal B. I proceeded to check in my bag, submit my Covid-19 negative results, and print my boarding pass. I stopped by the Starbucks location for a few minutes, then proceeded through security and toward my gate. There were plenty of shops inside, but I rarely shop at airports, unless its food, snacks, or travel accessories that I forgot at home. I did stop to eat at Wings, which is a chain of diners typically found throughout the airports in Mexico. This airport was the cherry on top to my great vacation in Monterrey. this is definitely the worst air I have ever been to!! To start the agent at the Viva counter a female with glasses was very rude and sent me to immigration for no reason. when asked she was very rude and decided not to tell me why u was being sent to immigration when I am a US citizen. Immigration told me they had no clue why she sent me there after I traveled the entire airport. in general this airport is terrible it was extremely hot no Ac no control at the time of boarding at all!!!! read more

When we arrived I needed to charge my phone a bit before attempting to head out into the city to explore. There are virtually no electric outlets anywhere in the airport, I finally found one and had to share it with another passenger. The taxis are expensive here compared to the rest of Mexico. There's a convenient non stop bus service that charges 120 pesos to the main city bus station. read more

Flew into this airport during a business trip and it was an overall quick and painless experience. I mainly used Terminal B, which was spacious, clean, had a few restaurants/shops to kill time at before you board. Security had absolutely no line when I arrived. When my flight got delayed, the gate rolled out a cart full of water, soda, and snacks as a way of apologizing! Wow, imagine any airport in the US doing that. Even our plans don't give out snacks anymore. The only bad thing about this airport is that it is located very far away from the center of Monterrey and even further from the business/downtown district where most out of towners go. Plan accordingly and allow yourself extra time to get here and expect to pay a toll out of pocket if you use Uber. read more

This is one sad airport. It's about as aesthetically pleasing as a New York City bus station in the 1970's. Food options are basically a fast food joint, a sad burger joint and a sad taco joint. Expect a bit of a walk in the hot sun once off the plane. Where the plane parks is no where near the actual terminal. I will say though... once it's time to board they get you on quick. read more

This is a rather small airport. The bathrooms are clean, and so is the waiting area. It's not very pretty. That doesn't matter a ton, but just an observation. The situation with the gates / boarding areas is rather odd. Gates aren't assigned until the last moment. The monitor says to go to "A", but where is that? None of the gates are labeled A. It turns out that it's not a gate. The big main waiting area is actually A, and that's where you should wait until boarding is announced and the gate is set. Then you can walk to one of the nearby 8 gates to start boarding. There are a few shops and places to eat. "The grill" is decent, and their sandwiches are tasty. If you have time, check out the beef jerky store and grab some of the locally-famous dried spiced meats. They were surprisingly thin and crunchy compared to American jerky. There's also a cool t-shirt shop. You walk out from the gate to the plane via the tarmac. No covered gateway, or shuttle bus. All in all, not a bad airport... but I wouldn't want to have a layover of more than an hour or two here because of the size and limited number of restaurants. No wifi. read more

Very laid back and easy to navigate. The airport was a bit cold when I landed early morning, however once I found a heat lamp I was fine. They are building a better centurion lounge here, and I was able to stick my snout in to see the progress, much more to do I'm afraid. There are a few eateries and a Starbucks. Also plenty of seating. The whole feel of this airport is much more relaxed than I'm used to. Free wifi rounded out my pleasant little visit and I would t hesitate to fly through here again! read more

2nd time here. I actually got to see more of the airport and it has some very nice shops. Customs clearance is easy, but I feel efficient for this size airport. I just happened to read last week that Monterrey is the friendliest place to live. Looking forward to seeing more this year and buying the best Vanilla Extract ever from departures and a homemade Strawberry Helado. Modern airport but small. Seats are plastic. There are charging stations but few of them. Food is limited, but there's a few stores that sell packaged food. The departure and arrivals in Terminal A go against each other at one point so it can be confusing when entering after the 1st security checkpoint. I also think what is interesting here is that there is a separate corridor for all arrivals, even for domestic you do not enter the gate waiting area. After passing luggage claim, you enter the landside part and there's a few businesses and food choices there, mainly starbucks, carl's jr, and something else. There's a taxi prepay area, and it gives the zone information. I didn't use a taxi, I used uber which is pretty much cheaper than a taxi. There's also bus/shuttle possibilities, but I arrived at 5 in the morning so they were not in service yet. read more

To accurately give a review of Monterrey's airport one would have to describe terminal by terminal, for they change drastically from one to the next. So, I'll try to do just that: Terminal A . This terminal, as can be easily assumed, was the first one to be built. It is a bit dated but offers the basic services one can expect from an airport. The security screening is relatively fast and there are restaurant inside, so if your flight leaves from there or if you're arriving there, you're good and shouldn't worry about much. Just be prepared to walk a lot, so I'd suggest travel using comfortable shoes. Terminal B is great. Recently built, it has big spaces and efficient security screening. Several restaurants inside and some stores. Terminal B, which is the most commonly used one because of the airlines there, is efficient in almost every aspect. It is considered to be the second most modern air facility in the country (only behind the Mexico's city Terminal 2) so if your flight arrives or departs from here, you're in excellent hands. Terminal C is the worst. Only one airline goes here, Viva Aerobus, which mostly makes national flights for cheap prices. You can expect to get what you're paying for. But if you're coming from abroad, chances are you won't get to experience this terminal, which is a blessing to you. In General: Parking is available but very expensive if you plan on leaving your vehicle there for the night. And, if you arrive to the wrong terminal, there might not be transport available between terminals, so a small mistake may cost you big in walking-time. So i'd recommend checking twice your terminal. read more

Fast and effective. It is extremely clean and plenty of seating available. Your friends and family can wait on side while you check in. They will ask for your declaration paperwork and passport. You can check your liquids in. Non alcoholic items are not taxed. They will ask you for window or aisle seating. If your flight is more than 2 hours in advance, gate is not added to your plane ticket. You can find your gate on TV screen once it is closer to your flight. Restaurants will accept your cards for a surcharge. There are charging stations available. read more

14 August 2014: Landed here for a connecting flight to Mexico City. It looked like they were still remodeling the place. Some of it looked really nice, but if you looked in the wrong direction, you'd see tarps and "warning" signs. This review is about terminal C which Viva Aerobus uses. I'm not sure of the other terminals. Terminal C is about as aesthetically pleasing as a prison, with numerous smoke alarms beeping "low battery" chirps constantly, virtually no electric plugs, and the most uncomfortable chairs of any airport Ive ever been to. The bathrooms are fine, and the food vendors are fine. It's basically a warehouse that was turned into an airport terminal, and it shows. Additionally, the fog seems to role in at night, often cancelling flights. so you're stuck in this awful place all night. read more

My first surprise on my trip was coming through this airport! What a nice way to go through security - they seem to know exactly what they are doing and do it very well and very quickly! I was able to make it through everything without any help and found my way to my colleague that was waiting for me outside baggage claim! The airport itself seems to have appropriate signage and it was clean and easy to walk! I look forward to traveling through this airport on my next trip back! read more

Convenient, easy to navigate, and well-laid out. Be prepared to do some walking when arriving here from national flights, but nothing too crazy, and very clear, easy to follow, multi-lingual signs help out quite a bit. No problem finding our friend who picked us up when we arrived, and departure was easy as well, via a ride in from Mty. via Uber. Not sure about public transportation, but I'm sure there are plenty of taxis to take you just about anywhere you need to go, including downtown Mty., which is about 20 minutes or so from the airport. Short story about this airport: Waaaaaaaaaaaaay back in '94, after my first six month stay in Mexico, I just **might** have partied a bit too hard and/or drowned my sorrows at having to return to "reality" at a going away party the night before my trip home. Anywhooo, got up (did I sleep??!?) in time to catch my red-eye, early a.m. flight out of this airport and didn't realize until arriving in Mexico City for my connecting flight that I had left my camera bag with camera and ALL my pictures/rolls of undeveloped film (it was a WHILE ago!!) back in Monterrey. I was FRANTIC, and hated to lose not just my camera but all those wonderful memories as well. Made some calls, had the Aeromexico people in Mexico City call the people in Monterrey, and to make a LONG story short, that camera bag, along with so many wonderful, irreplaceable memories, was found by someone working at this airport and forwarded all the way to my final destination airport in NY... THAT'S something that wouldn't happen just anywhere, and I was surprised and so very grateful. People are good EVERYWHERE, and as long as you're reasonably careful and have just a touch of faith in others, most of the time, you WON'T be disappointed!! read more

My first time through the new Terminal B and everything is laid out quite well. On arrival the flow of passengers is obvious and the customs and immigration folks were quite efficient. On departure a few restaurants are still under construction so I was regretting not stopping for food on the way to the airport. Wifi wasn't working for me. read more

Went through Volaris early this morning around 6am 14/10/2019. Volaris made an effort at every turn to accommodate us with our 2 year old. Put us in front of check in and lining up to board the plane. Hard to travel with a little one and they really made it easier. Had the pleasure of working with Magda at the Volaris check in. The staff are not helpful. We tried to get our baggage, we were told by multiple people it was "downstairs," but they would not be more specific. It turns out it was down an alley that had a sign "private entrance." We eventually were allowed to collect our baggage. On the plus side, there are vegan and vegetarian options in the airport, although they are a bit on the bland side. As long as you don't need customer service, you'll be okay. read more
