From the very beginning, this entire experience has been nothing shy of 5star/top-shelf!! Amazing, really... I travel a ton (diamond with Hilton and gold with marriot) and this property ranks right up there with some of the more "high-end" properties up in the States. The customer service here is Ritz Carlton-worthy - no lie. The rooms are very spacious - with amazing beds, firm and labeled pillows...who does that?? Firm the soft - I LOVE this place!! The shower - where to begin?? I could have thrown a Vegas-Esk bubble party in there, glow sticks and all!! I would strongly suggest y'all bookmark this puppy if you ever need to venture down to this part of Mexico. Queretaro is a great city. Enjoy!!! In a place bursting with authenticity, reality and beauty of everyday life, Hotel Criol sits as a…read morecontrast to its surroundings. It isn't traditional and in most ways, quite nice looking. The photos online are accurate. The location is amazing. The design of wood planks, stone and plenty of greenery is well thought through. The service was actually quite good, with an efficient checkin and kind people. Here are the key reasons why I wouldn't be able to return to Hotel Criol. The bedding is extremely uncomfortable, from sheets to mattress to the pillows. The pillows are all synthetic and there is no substitute available. I called the property ahead of booking to confirm there would be feather or down pillows, it was confirmed there would be in English and in Spanish, but none to be found even after discussing with front desk. For a hotel that isn't a hole in the wall and one of the most expensive options in Queretaro, that's just unacceptable. Getting a good night's sleep is the foundation of any hotel experience and all other things start to get overshadowed by that. The other thing that I've found quite unpleasant is the terrible smell that was present every day in all common areas, from courtyards to the pool. Not sure if it's garbage, chemicals, repellents or something else, but it was a large detractor. The room is nicely designed, with a slick sink, an excellent shower and of average size. It is pretty annoying that there is no central air conditioning and the air conditioner is quite noisy at night, making a lot of cracking and dripping noises when it works. There were plenty of contrasts. A beautiful library, yet a filthy dirty pool. Although design and service were excellent, this is not a property I'd return to. Foundational issue is the lack of comfort, composed of underlying problems. It's a 3 star hotel as a whole in hotel stars.

A Sprawling Escape with Service Shortcomings…read more Hacienda Jurica by Brisas offers a truly authentic hacienda experience, with its sprawling grounds and distinctive architectural style. The resort is immaculately clean and well-maintained, creating a beautiful and relaxing atmosphere for guests. Our room, while basic in decor, was remarkably spacious and provided a lovely view of an expansive, tree-shaded courtyard dotted with charming fountains. This peaceful outlook added to the serene ambiance of the stay. When I travel around the world I want to experience a unique and special accommodation like Oberoi in India, or The Rift Carlton in Cancun, or the Mandarin in honk king or St Regis in Bangkok Thailand or Marina Bay Sands Singapore just to give an example of what I mean. Tha's why I chose Hacienda Jurica for the rich history behind the beautiful Hacienda but sadly we encounter no so welcoming approach by some of the stuff. We arrived around 8 pm after traveling from Guanajuato so we wanted to check in and have a bite to eat before bed because we were tired. The valet parking guy was awesome and helpful. The guy at the front desk was disconnected and seems like he had a bad day or got some bad news so I try to ignore the fact he wasn't friendly. The service at Hacienda Jurica fell consistently flat, significantly detracting from the overall experience. Our initial impression at the front desk was a cold and unwelcoming reception, almost as if our arrival was an inconvenience. We initially attributed this to our late check-in, but subsequent interactions the following day, including with the restaurant hostess, mirrored this lackluster and inattentive service. This led us to believe it was a systemic issue rather than an isolated incident. The food in the resort's restaurant was delicious for both dinner and breakfast, but the service remained slow just plain nasty and inattentive during our meals. The only one that was always friendly and with a smile on her face was the lady at the Omelet and antojitos area. I spoke with someone in the reception to find out what was the problem and she was nice and friendly but didn't go the extra mile to make a difference. We stay an extra night because someone in our family got sick but no discount or anything was granted, Oh yea! we got a piece of dry cake that was left in the room uncover and full of flies. At the end If your primary goal is to unwind in a beautiful setting and enjoy ample space for leisurely strolls, Hacienda Jurica by Brisas certainly delivers on its promise of a relaxing environment. Just don't expect to be wowed by the service. While the hacienda's charm is undeniable, the uninspired service prevents it from being a truly exceptional stay. Here's a timeline of its history: Luís de Velasco presented the assets of Hacienda Jurica to Don Juan Sánchez de Alanis, acknowledging his conquest of Queretaro. Later years: The hacienda was acquired by Mr. Carlos Urquiza and utilized for agriculture and livestock. 1960: Mr. Juan Manuel Torreslanda purchased the property with the vision of transforming it into a luxurious destination. Renovations were undertaken to emphasize its historic features, including the Presidential Suite living room (where priests once held mass), La Fontana Ballroom, and La Paloma Azul patio. March 31, 1969: Hacienda Jurica by Brisas opened its doors as a hotel. July 17, 2006: Renovations were completed, updating the guest rooms and public areas. June 17, 2020: The hotel re-opened after temporary closure because the pandemic but survive and is now open for everyone to enjoy. Hacienda Jurica by Brisas was constructed between the 14th and 17th centuries, in which novel approaches to art and science spread throughout Europe. In the 16th century, during the Spanish colonization of the Americas, Holy Roman Emperor Carlos V appointed the estate of Jurica to Luís de Velasco, the second viceroy of New Spain. In 1551, Luís de Velasco presented the assets to Don Juan Sánchez de Alanis in recognition of his conquest of Queretaro. Shortly after acquiring the estate, Don Juan Sánchez de Alanis was inspired to build a grand hacienda, and dedicated his life to creating an architectural masterpiece. He subsequently employed over 500 people to achieve his vision. Years later, the assets were passed onto Mr. Carlos Urquiza, who utilized the estate for agriculture and the raising livestock.

In addition, they never had any money to exchange and could not tell us where the closest money exchange is. The rooms are kind of dark and average and people are allowed to scream and yell long into the night. We faced the breakfast patio and the pool and a group of drunk people sang loudly until 2am despite us calling management. Last, the restaurant there is overwhelmed. They take forever and a day to serve you and when I asked for cup of hot water, they took 15 minutes to bring it to me while I stood in the waiting area.

This hotel is located in the rural part of Juriquilla, and the hometown crowd is not the friendliest (in some instances they were downright rude). Nothing within walking distance other than tacos for $25 pesos (by the way, riquísimos!), an Oxxo, Circle K, a tortilleria, chicharrónes stand, ladies selling esquite, etc). There is nightlife in the immediate area, and it does seem to be popular. There is a cool ice cream/coffee shop Villanova across the street where you can get a tasty cup of coffee each morning. The hotbreakfast buffet was $300 pesos/person, and the quality of the buffet was only so-so. I did not retur. The rooms are well appointed w/daily maid service (nice!) but there is no mini fridge in the room, so no way to keep your drinks cold. To get around to the shops, eateries, centro historico, etc., you will definitely need an Uber. Pricing is reasonable but expect a 20+ minute wait. I was here for a tournament. Would I stay again here? Probably not, but it was good for the tournament.
