For years I have said that this is one of the best Banks around. When service is good I'm the first to give kudos; but when service is bad, I'm an equal opportunity critic. Well I'm at that point now, and that's the point of "disappointment!" Banks are good to shut your card off when they think there are fraudulent activities against you and I can appreciate that. 9 times out of 10 it's not fraud, it's just that your spending pattern or activities are a little out of "your" norm. Well in early February I filed a dispute because I received 2 separate charges on my debit card from the movies; 1 for my food and 1 for others food (3 times my amount). I immediately called AMC, but because they couldn't see the charges on my AMC account they advised me to reach out to my bank, immediately I did. Because the card was presented (from my seat) the bank will not issue my refund and says it doesn't look like fraud. I was told by the server that she needed the card because it had a chip in it. I can't freakin win. My issue with the bank is they have a fraud department who I can't seem to speak to, so I have to speak through tellers and customer service reps, while the fraud department doesn't have the common courtesy to call & speak to me directly. As always I ask, what happened to good old fashion "Customer Service?" I think it's time to go back to a traditional bank or maybe I need to do like they did back in the day & keep my money under the mattress! I'm so pissed , you have no idea, so the 5 stars I once gave Affinity Federal Credit Union, I will now decrease to 2 stars. 2 stars for: The past great service; the loss of three stars for: *Not hearing your customer out! *Not advocating for your customer! *Not going the extra mile (checking the signatures on the receipts!) *Not speaking directly to the customer but instead through a middle man! *For passing the buck! So no longer will I recommend family, friends, coworkers or employees to Affinity Federal Credit Union. In the meantime its to shop for another bank, I will soon be divorcing this one! read more

absolutely awful experience.. my account was inexplicably locked a few months ago, the fees are insane, and the customer support might be the worst i've ever experienced. Expect to wait on hold for a half an hour every time you call them, and when they finally pick up the first time it's a 50/50 shot you just get hung up on. When you finally do get through, the lack of professionalism seeps through the phone- I could barely understand the person i talked to, but they answered the phone in an annoyed tone - "HELLO?". Like hello?? who are you??? Do you need my information??? They don't even pretend to be nice, if i answered the phone like they did I wouldn't have a job. The fees are ridiculous, the customer support is horrible, and the bank itself is a joke. Avoid. read more

The communication between the phone customer service and the bank branch is subpar. My account was closed and then reinstated last year. I got a new debit card that I have been using all year (this year). After speaking with customer service on the phone, the person told me to go to a local branch to get another debit card. I did and the teller informed me that they are cutting ties with me and that she can print a check for the remainder of the money in my account. Several conversations later, they felt that my account should never have been reinstated even though I have been actively using my debit card all year.! read more

I came in last week to make a deposit. I was in a line of 3 people. The lady nicely skipped me to take care of the Indian (not sure of the nationality) couple behind me. When I asked her why she skipped me she said she didn't see me. I am a 5'8" black woman who weighs 200lbs. So saying you don't see me sounds crazy. In addition, they never have the coins I need. They are always on order. They have horrible hours, which is not that abnormal for a bank but since they don't have that many branches and it takes me 30 min to get to any of them having at least one late night or extended hours on Saturdays would be greatly appreciated. I have a vending machine business and can never get there or I'm racing there on my day off. A guy suggested I use the ATM to deposit $400 in single and I clearly have to wait to deposit the coins. I told him the ATM only takes 50 bills at a time and it takes me 30-40 minutes to deposit that way. He just said sorry. I am not a fan!!!! read more

I believe they get kick backs for having vehicles repossessed, they refuse to take the money I owe them, even though it was the exact amount they gave me three days ago. I am on hold with them over forty minutes every time I call, then resort to emailing them and never get a response. Meanwhile money I owe them is sitting in my bank while my vehicle shows up for repossession. Crazy. read more

I used Affinity for an out of state home mortgage financing. They offering superb jumbo loan options. The people I dealt with were very nice and things went well. My only complaint and HUGE complaint is that none of my emails were ever received by them, even when they were replies to their email, with no attachment. They continued to blame a spam filter. An email as simple as "no, it was sold" went to spam (I assume). This is a big problem when trying to get a mortgage processed. Each time, I would send information, sometimes documents, that was requested and a week later they'd call me to ask where it was. This slowed things down and drove me nuts. It happened with multiple people at Affinity. I now know why none of my emailed questions were ever answered. If you use them, just be sure to call for everything, literally everything. read more

I refinanced my vehicle through you guys. Got a good rate for my score and everything was all peachy. Husband lost his job so I had to pay everything and ended up getting a little behind. Tried to pay more each month to catch up, but with the late fees and you adding 2000 on my loan for NO REASON I got about 1500 behind. In June, you stopped taking payments from me and refused to work with me when I was offering double to triple my monthly payments to catch up and said I needed to give you 1200 or you're taking my vehicle. Times are tough and people are going through it. If I had that much to give right then, I absolutely would have, but I didn't and was trying to give what I could to get back on track. There is no humanity left in this greedy, money hungry world. Everyone preaches "people first" and " we care about our communities" but in reality, you don't. You only "care" until someone falls on hard times and then you wanna knock them down even further by taking everything and shrugging your shoulders when they are begging for a little help and understanding. I'm amazed that I didn't join this credit union sooner. This place is hands down awesome. Uma took the time to explain their products and benefits for being a member of their credit union. She made making financial decisions a breeze. We qualified for an auto loan for 5 years at 2.99% which was phenomenal compared to what the dealer wanted to give us 4.5%. We were able to apply for an unsecured credit card and joint checking account in less than 30 minutes! Super service, super friendly, and super thorough! read more

Every month I pay an extra fee for not having insurance (which I have and my agent has sent the documentation to them) and every month I talk to them and they say I'm all set and they'll send me a check to reimburse me then I get next bill and I'm still being charged extra. read more

Maybe it's not all branches, but so far this CU is incompetent and hires the same. I called about one of their products; received no call back. When I went in person to open a business account, the person asked for my SSN card. Who carries that? I had my state DL with photo and US Passport for credentials. Obviously I needed a ssn card to obtain those. I've already proven to be a US citizen. What pissed me off even more is that I called ahead of time asking what is needed. No one mentioned SSN card! I waited on a busy Saturday to be served only to not have all the documents and go back home. Not worth the headache. You can't even get documents right - how are you going to handle my money? This sets a precedent. No thanks. Plenty of other banks out there. read more

Since I was a member for over two decades with Affinity, there was obviously some benefit. But they crossed the line showing no loyalty or ethics when they went into my private password and accessed my account because they had made an error, and took the money out of my account. WITHOUT EVER NOTIFYING ME ABOUT IT! Will not do banking with them and I have told friends about this situation. The credit union did not even try to talk with me about what happened. So I applied for a personal loan online. I didn't hear from anyone . I called , was told your application has not been review yet. I sent an email give it another day I was told. I called back and was told your loan was decline and some information was incorrect. But was never call ! Wouldn't tell me what . But it's funny my credit was not ran. I get notified when my credit is being ran by anyone looking at it. I understand my credit is poor but why lie. So I sent in a complaint on line received an email and it would be address and someone else at the credit union. Yes I said I didn't want to be contacted but as a courtesy you would think someone would have responded. Nope. And plus on top of this no letter mail out why I was decline. Yes I'm upset because I was pushed aside and no one cares .sorry I was looking for another loan and I'm trying to get ahead and improve my credit. But just like any other companies they don't care, only if you have excellent credit. And I can't cancel my membership until my loan is paid off.
