This was by far the worst experience. I was looking for a single room but was told they only had…read moredouble, which was fine because that meant I could have my husband stay with me. I made the comment to the girl checking us in and she said that yes he could stay. Checked in around 1:30, went to the room and it was very hot. Didn't think anything of it. Made sure it was on and left to go out. Came back around 7pm and it was even hotter. I asked the nice gentleman at the front desk to check it and he did. He came in and told me that the south facing windows sunlight have caused the room to get hit but also said that they had a technician out the other day because the AC was broken. So I left for dinner. We came back at 10:30 and the room was just as hot. The owner came in to the room and started telling us there was nothing they could do because they waiting in the technician again. So we came up with a solution. We asked the owner if someone could give my husband a ride to his friends house because he had 2 fans we could use. THE OWNER SAID NO! I couldn't believe it, we found a solution for them and he said no. At almost 11pm he tells us he would pay for a taxi and we could find somewhere else. After 15 hours of travel and at 11pm he had the nerve to say no to give a ride to get the fan and told us to leave! IT GETS BETTER...naturally the conversation gets heated and his lunatic wife comes out with her wallet in hand telling us to leave and she would give us back our money. Keep in mind the time and the fact that hotels close by were sold out. She was getting hysterical. I made the comment that their tourism has gone down and the city has because of customer service like that. The owner starts telling me that my country was going down because of Trump? So he starts getting political. Meanwhile his crazy wife was screaming for we blew up a shuttle in the 1980's and how after hurricanes people had no AC?? At this point I'm trying to stay calm because with no car at 11pm and nearby hotels full we had no place to go. Finally after a good 10 mins of arguing the SOB finally said he would take my husband to get the fans. These people have zero class! I've been visiting and living in Bordighera for the last 15 years and this is very typical of the people from the region. It's very sad because it's such a beautiful part of Italy. Please do not support these people. I will never recommend any of my friends stay there like I did back in 2016. Never.

I'm not sure if it's was because we checked in late, or they were sold out of hotels rooms or that we were a family, but they gave us a room, or an apartment rather, in the building next door to the hotel.... We didn't mind. It was fairly basic but had a mini kitchen and washer-dryer. There was no air, but the cool breeze from the sea was just perfect at night even in summer. There was a table on the balcony for enjoying meals. The hotel and apartments are just a stone's throw from the water and had an overall very laid back vacation type feel. There's a cafe, a bar, and a restaurant run by the hotel with outdoor seating by the water. We enjoyed croissants and espresso before hitting up the beach in the morning. The beach is lovely and great for families. They had a designated kids sections with blow up toys and even a bounce slide/house! A great place to stay with kids...or even as adults. Many were hanging outside at night with a cocktail just enjoying the sparkling lights of the French Rivera, which you can see from the hotel. Free parking! Yay! 5 Star for location. 3 for apartment. 4 for convenience (parking, accessibility to the water, on site dining) Oh, and if you're here on a Friday, don't miss the famous Ventimiglia Mercado!
