MY EXPERIENCE WITH RICK DONNER…read more I have owned stock in 2 related subchapter-S companies for several years. In 2009, the parent company, also an S-corp, took back my stock in these 2 subsidiaries, and instead gave me stock in the parent. So I had 3 K-1s to deal with, and as usual the K-1s didn't arrive until April 8th and 12th. I had waited a week for an appointment with a CPA, then sat down for about 30 minutes and explained the situation. Suddenly, the accountant stood up and said they weren't able to help me. It was too complicated, they had too much to do. I was shocked . One week to tax day and I had nowhere to go. I had tried TurboTax, but no way could it deal with this K-1 swap. I couldn't return to last year's accountant. He had said my return was a lot of work, and had charged me big money. And last year's had been much easier than this. I couldn't believe this. I'm from Chicago, and I have known smart accountants in the past who could certainly deal with this. But after 4 years in Fort Myers, I didn't know where to turn. Then I met Rick Donner, and the situation changed completely. As I talked to him, he immediately started creating my return on his computer. I explained the stock swap and showed him the documents, and he quickly figured out what was going on. Then he sat and thought for a while, and I shut up. Finally he said 'Ok, here's what we're going to do'. And he proceeded to explain the strategy for dealing with the swap. Furthermore, the return was essentially done - he had been typing everything in while we were talking. All we needed was the last K-1, and that was it. I was blown away. It had seemed like such a big problem an hour ago, and now it was magically solved. What had been a really bad day had suddenly turned great. Such a relief to find someone who could handle this with no nonsense. And, he didn't try to make a big case out of it and charge me an arm and a leg. Rick is forthright, smart, and a straight dealer. I was taken care of by Kevin Corbett as he's done taxes for some of my family members in the past. Appointments are pretty straightforward at K&A. Kevin's questions while doing my taxes showed me how methodical he was and it was interesting to understand the reasons he asked (he explained to me some of the terms, laws, etc.). We managed to get through my complicated taxes and I was ready to be on my way. My experience for the first time was great at K&A, especially for such a dull tax activity. There were two things that I'd point out could be improved for my experience to be much better. 1. Up front transparency for cost of tax filing 2. Speed up of time doing taxes (I was there for 2 hours) All in all, my experience was positive and I thank K&A.

Okay, so I was helping some friends of mine who are from another country, and his parents recently sold a piece of land which the irs withheld their money that my friends parents were in titled to. In order to do so you have to go thru a process in doing so and I learned a lot in doing so . I filled out the W-7 s for both parties involved and was missing one line on section (h) where I didn't specify the holding company's name specific that was holding the money. So I tracked down the contracts, sale info, made copies of there passports and had them all squared away, but wanted a second opinion. So my friends parents are smart people and knew I had already done all the foot work myself , because we all went to the tax office together in Sarasota. My friends don't speak English well and I was the translation guy. Lucky for them after you read all of this. So when I entered into Firpta solutions for the first time I was greeted and sent to speak with a lady name Meagan Johnson. She seen my paper work etc and went in the back and spoke with mark and they were charging $2,000 for the job. My friends thought that was excessive. And so did myself. And I understand that I would be the same if It were my company. But $2,000 was something that we would need to think on so we left. Here's when things go from what you feel like good to tragic. Meagan Johnson texts and says I can do this case outside of the office, because I'm certified to do so many home clients a month and you qualify. She went on to say I will only charge you $900 since you have everything already together pretty much you just need to send off to get the itinerary numbers. I was like yes correct. So that day we paid Meagan Johnson $900 thru my friends mothers pay pal account to Meagan Johnson pay pal account. To make it even more crazy after Meagan gets the $900 she avoids calls and tells us she in the hospital in critical status. I'm like okay no problem. Call me when you get to feeling better. 3 weeks went pass by and no contact was ever made. I have all the text and information that Meagan sent and even showed all of it to Mark and Julie at their office. Mark and Julie even seen the $900 pay pal transaction going to Meagan's pay pal. So when I called and told Mark all of this he said Meagan no longer works for us anymore. So he apologized and said he would do them for free of charge. Me and my friend that I'm helping on the English goes to speak with Julie we show her the text and how Meagan texted us etc. Not to mention Meagan isn't even qualified to do such work. So who is accountable for her actions? JULIE AND MARK!! That's how the law works in these company's and I even explained this to Julie after I nearly hit the roof when she said I will complete the rest of the work for only charge you $500. What we just got robbed by your employee for $900. Now your going to charge me when you see the price of the property. You seen more money. What Mrs Julie didn't know is I had been doing my homework. And no one gets away with hurting my people. These ppl are scams. If someone your with doesn't know much English do not go here!! You probably will see this on the news. Mark said free of charge and get there and Julie was saying fee charge.. And these two are married and have no better communication than this. Because I spoke to mark days before I came into the office. I did seek legal advice and confirmed that this a criminal act on Meagans part. And a big NO NO on this Julie for trying to charge us an extra $500 after she seen with her own eyes the texts etc Meagan claiming to be certified etc. I will see you in Julie and Mark and Megan Johnson as well as the entire Firpta solutions In Cape Coral in court. I'm ready for my lawyer to put me in contact with whomever I need to have these ppl criminally prosecuted. To make a long story short I did get the itinerary numbers. Now 1040 Nr .
