    Review Highlights - Afghan Cuisine

I entered this place to try some kebabs different from all the usual places in curry mile that I was so used to.

Curry Mile - You can't curry on eating bad kebabs after you eat this one from Rusholme Chippy

I am not trying to Curry your favour by writing this, but even as a Liverpool fan, I do love…read moreManchester. I used to live there, I love it a lot more than London for example. I got racially abused a hell of a lot in Manchester but it still has a lot more life to it than most places I've ever been. One of the all-time highlights of not just Manchester, but the whole UK, is Curry Mile. It doesn't get much better. Some of the best curries in town, all kinds of wonderful South Asian, Middle Eastern, you name it, all sorts of food that will blow your mind. I've been coming here since I was little. It's a rough area but so is your nether region when unshaved. So my highlight will always be Rusholme Chippy, which is not so much a chippy but a kebab house, featuring the best Kobedeh Kebab in the entire world that I've ever had. Open late and a must-try.

Most cities offer a Chinatown. Some have a Little Italy. There are Jewish quarters, Polish…read moreneighbourhoods and other such places of cultured cuisine knocking around all over the UK. But how many of them have an entire mile dedicated to Indian food? Rusholme's section of Wilmslow Road is where you'll find a vast array of curry houses hotly anticipating your custom, as well as the obligatory variety of off-licenses due to the Bring Your Own Booze policy of many of the restaurants... Then, there's that which the uninitiated won't have heard of - the many Indian sweet shops and ice cream stops ideally placed for that one wafer thin mint that'll nickname you Mr Creosote after filling your belly with more spicy sauces than are humanly healthy. If you have relatives or friends visiting and they like it hot, a visit here is a must. At first, it's completely mind-boggling. What differentiates one curry house from the next? Don't they all serve the same food? Well, this is where Yelp does the hard work for you - we're here to Yelp you after all. Take the ones you're interested in. Maybe they offer something a little different? Sri Lankan cuisine, a charcoal pit, Pakistani, Punjab, Afghan... then search them in Yelp and see what we have to say about them. Heck, we're like one of those price comparison websites. We're your middleman. We went to the bad ones when we were students, so you don't have to. The Curry Mile also has a policy somewhat alien to the rest of the UK. Rusholmers live like New Yorkers. If you want curry at 4am, you can get curry at 4am. A lot of these places stay open well into the wee small hours and then some. Everyone should visit here at least once. It's bright and shiny enough for tourists, authentic enough for foodies, cheap enough for students, lively enough for groups and different enough for just about every taste. Definitely put this on your to-do list if you're new to the great city of Manchester.

"We quietly opened it 13 months ago and have been slowly building the business". What it does show is that they're passionate about the authenticity of the food and see this place as a long term investment. They're here to stay folks! The chicken and lamb Karahi is cooked on the tandoor "Pathan style" with plethora of spices and takes 30 minutes to cook. My first venture was however all about the legendary Chapli kebabs and Peshawari naans! I first tried this huge spice filled meat fest at a wedding in London. They're a delicacy in North Pakistan area of Pakhtun and Waziristan as well as Afghanistan. The richness of flavour absorbed in the meat is incredible and the naan breads served with it are soft, delicious and rather large. I can't wait to return and try the rice dish and update my review! Cheethamhill road is fast becoming better than Wilmslow road for foodies. This hidden treasure deserves a cheeky visit!"

After hoping to relive nostalgia on what must have been the quietest night on Canal Street, I cast a gaze once more to the brightly coloured Archie's on the way back to Piccadilly Station and thought it too late for a fattening late night meal. I ultimately gave in and what a treat that was. I absolutely could not resist the Butterscotch Shake, which turned out to be amazing, to a point where I was sucking in the straw to get everything out of the cup and was equally delighted with the Good Burger, which I inhaled on the return train journey back to the hotel. This was definitely worth the stop.

Make sure to bring a friend; it's very sweet! Although the line was not very long, the staff was very abrupt. After receiving my milkshake, I found a problem in it, and when I went to tell the staff they accused me of lying. After showing them the problem they apologized, but that was very rude; you don't upfront call customers liars. Like the shake, but probably won't visit again after that defaming encounter.
