This is bar none the most disorganized organization I have ever had to deal with. We could never, ever in good conscience recommend this company to anyone. I am helping out a loved one that has an insurance policy with Aflac. Her policy was cancelled by an Aflac agent after we called to inquire whether she owed money to keep it in good standing and make any necessary payments before the due date. Not sure how the Aflac agent could have cancelled her account without her permission, but this has been a big problem and required a lot of time on the phone with Alfac. Huge red flag. Since then, every single agent I have spoken to says she has to do something different to reinstate her policy. One of the agents asked for us to write a letter to Alfac and fax voided cancellation check. We did that. A few weeks later I called back to check on things, and another agent said, the previous agent should have told you to fill out a form too. We then filled out the form and faxed it to Aflac. I checked in with Alfac a month later and another agent said we had to send in that same form a second time because the previous agent didn't send it to the correct location. Before this experience, I was curious about using Aflac. The only good thing that has come out of this terrible experience of over 3 months of back and forth with Aflac is that I know to never consider them as an insurance carrier. The agents are nice, but their training is horrible and not one agent that has assured us that they would look into her status has followed through. They are all saying different things and it doesn't seem to matter that this problem was due to a rogue agent cancelling her insurance without her permission in the first place. What a horrible mess of a company. The nutshell is if you are a client with Aflac and they make a mistake, You, the client correct Aflac's mistakes. If a trustworthy company realizes one of their agent makes a mistake, they do what they can to make it right. That has been the complete opposite for us. I've been with Aflac since 2022; by the way, my agent Janine is great and very helpful. The problem is since April 2025 I have had an ongoing issue with the payments side, and they have accidentally charged my account when they shouldn't have. The problem lies with that department; every time I call, they cannot resolve the issue. I have to wait for a call back, email and I am just going to cancel because, at this point, this company has not met my expectations. I'm so upset right now, and at first; they told me I had to send all my documents through fax, that's the only way. Then I tried to do that several times and the fax didnt go through. Finally, I can send it through email. They have wasted a lot of my time, and I will be looking for a better health plan with a reliable insurance company. read more

Been trying to get a check re-issued for 6 weeks. The STATE of CA sent a letter saying AFLAC had money for me. (It was a group health/accident policy claim check that I lost during a move - and then forgot about b/c of the pandemic and other life-threatening matters). The phone # on the letter the STATE sent me got me to AFLAC "customer service" (not really service - really a call center that can't do much to tell you where your funds are). Per the instructions I mailed off the required documentation. Followed up after 2 weeks as no check had arrived. Was told it had not been received and I could email it - which I did. Five days later no response (the gal specifically said she'd confirm receipt). Nope. Called back today - each call is digital hell and 15+ minutes of waiting to talk w/ someone that can't really help. They are good at asking questions though. They must hate working there is all I can say. I can't imagine being in a position where I couldn't actually help a customer. After today's call I was basically told I would have to wait "up to 20 days" to see if a check shows up. "It comes from the finance department." Me: Can I contact them directly to confirm that they ARE PROCESSING the check. Her: No. Me: Can you tell me if the documentation that I sent in was actually received? Her: No. Bottom line is I have to wait another 20 days to see if a check shows up and if not start over. Really crappy customer service. The sales agents sure know how to get you signed up though. I have never submitted a review of anything before but I have also never been this angry before. I obtained coverage in October 2024 and gave birth to my child in March 2025 (early c-section) I applied for coverage afterwards and was informed that my time would be covered up to 6-8 weeks. For the next 6 weeks (as I did not work and was not paid) I was sent on a wild GOOSE chase with AFLAC stating I needed to upload "office notes from my initial consultation". Proceed to me recovering form after form to submit until my claim was denied for "failure to receive" the form that I submitted two weeks prior. After several calls to Aflac and my hospital to figure out what they needed, Aflac informed me they need the form sent to them directly from my physician. I initiated this process and after calling three times over the next week for updates and being told to wait, I was informed a week later (after I had gone back to work) that no one looked into my policy far enough and that I would not be paid due to my "pre-existing condition". I was assured SEVERAL times that all I needed to do was to provide the necessary paperwork. Now I'm out 6 weeks of pay when I could have been working from home and I have officially canceled my coverage. Absolute worst business that I have ever dealt with. read more

I only selected one star, because selecting no stars did not seem possible. It's hysterical that they use personalities such as Nick Saban in their advertising. They are the polar opposite of someone who's a GOAT. They don't keep copies of paperwork, their customer support people are rude and dismissive, they promise things they don't deliver. Pray to God you never have to deal with these mental midgets! I had to deal with them four years ago when we put my mother in Assisted Living. Sadly, I am having to deal with them again now that we're filing for Medicaid. These people don't want to alleviate your suffering. They want to actively participate in making it worse. I can't think of 1 person who has every said anything negative about AFLAC. AFLAC is a very affordable insurance coverage for emergencies, it is super easy to process a claim, and customer service is TOP NOTCH! read more

This company is a scam outfit. I called and explained the dental treatment my son was having done in detail. They said their plan would cover up to $1200 max. for the work being done. I confirmed twice with them and then decided to sign up for their plan. Once my son had his dental work done, they denied all the claims except $50 on one. I was furious. I had to resend documentation 3 times... they kept losing it. My dental office even sent the info. twice. Only after me tracking down the CEO on Linkedin I finally got some attention and they still didn't honor what their rep. promised. They only paid out 1/2 of what they promised. I obviously cancelled my policy. Funny the amount they paid out was almost identical to the amount I had been paying over the past year. I could have joined another plan which would have paid out more. I would never recommend this company to anyone!! Waste of time. My greatest point of disappointment with AFLAC falls into 2 categories: 1) a credit card or debit card payment transaction can take up to 14 business days to be debited from your credit card account; there is no authorization of the funds at the point of transaction generation from the phone customer service reps, you must remember that the money is earmarked for payment up to 14 business days; 2) You cannot make a one time, one month payment online. My resolution - I will be sending in a money order for payment, so that I do not have to make constant mental notes of earmarked money in my credit card and debit card accounts. Funding will be at the point of money order purchase by me; The result - more overhead for me, in the obtaining a paper money order, and its' sendout; more overhead for AFLAC, in the processing of the paper money order, opening the mail manually, crediting my account manually, etc. In the age of instantaneous payment debiting, it is high time for AFLAC to update their infrastructure; spend a little on the infrastructure rather than spending all in on pushing the AFLAC duck in all medias for new customers. Focus on customer retention a little more, and focus on attraction of new customers a little less. After all, it is the ongoing customer base that generates the current revenue to pay wages, business expenses, and the like. At this point, the existing customers are sitting in the caboose of the train, whilst the new customers are sitting in the first class / business class of the train, with sleeping quarters. read more

When I was asked at my job to sign up for this service, I thought why not give it a try, the lady who was helping me fill out the application was very good, she took all my information, but came back to me and said I couldn't apply because of my age I am 68 years old and probably in better shape than most, but it ends at 64, I've worked all my life and thought what the hell give it a try, they discriminated because of my age, most people think I'm in my 40's what an ignorant thing to do, they say I'm sure its business, I say its a lousy business, thanks for making older people feel like dirt. read more

If I could give AFLAC 0 stars I would. I have dental insurance through my employer. The only reason we have AFLAC is because my employer somehow didn't sign me up for their own dental plan and had to buy this one after the fact. Every step of the AFLAC experience is TERRIBLE. Their website basically serves little to no purpose. You cannot file a claim online, even though they have a section on their website dedicated to it. Even the instructions don't work--they have an instructional video that doesn't load. You have to call AFLAC for anything and everything, and the whole call from start to end will require about 20 min. if not longer. Also, you can never speak to a representative when you call the first time, you always have to wait for a representative to call you back. They also make it exceedingly inconvenient / difficult to file a claim. You have to download the form and they require that the responses are typed even though the form they give you is not set up as a fill-able form. And it's really easy to set up a form that way with adobe so I don't know why a national company can't even take the time to do that. Then you have to have your dental provider fill out the other part of the form. I can't imagine what people who have actual medical insurance with them do or need to get real medical procedures done. It's really obvious that they intentionally make everything difficult for patients/to file a claim so that they can minimize the number of claims they actually have to pay out. All I have to say is that their dental insurance plan and whole customer experience is as stupid as their mascot. NEXT. read more

I've been battling AFLAC for the past 9 weeks following my total knee replacement surgery. I've had a policy for close to 8 years and have never had this issue before. Part of the Hospital Indemnity benefits include surgical benefits. After 9 weeks of trying to get this benefit paid, FINALLLY they notify me that they (claimed) they changed the policy back in March (this is October-November-December) and removed this benefit. I recieved no such notification. I especially like how they put off answering my requests for the past 9 weeks (where i spent an hour on the phone weekly because nobody follows up on their claims to "escalate to a supervisor" -- No I had to call weekly to get a status) until after OPEN ENROLLEMENT is closed. I want to cancel this policy but I'm worried that since open enrollment is closed I'm stuck having my paychecks deducted to the tune of $300/month to go to these crooks. If your employer offers AFLAC, RUN RUN RUN! They used to be great; now they're slimy crooks. Avoid AFLAC like the plague. (because if you get the plague and try to claim it on your "critical illness policy" chances are they'll find a way not to pay your claim. read more

I have had a cancer insurance policy that was sold to me when I was working about 10 years ago. Every now and then a credit card is involved in fraudulent changes I didnt make and then the fun starts as its not a simple task to just replace a card on file for auto billing. When you call the are always way backed up in calls. Today the wait was almost 2 hours. The system lets you leave your number for a callback. When the callback comes, I have no idea its AFLAC. Caller ID says Crancall Ind SC. So of course I dont answer it. Then I see under voicemail...oh that was AFLAC!!!! You would think that with the terrible problem of spam calls, a world wide seller of insurance would think to put their name on caller ID so people would answer the call! But no....the name is not recognized so people dont answer and thus stay on the merry-go round to nowhere. I wonder if they do this on purpose to just make you give up and drop your coverage. After all, all the premiums paid on a dropped plan is for the most part pure profit. read more

Aflac was notified in NOVEMBER that my employee was terminated. Yet they continued to charge me for her policy. I notified my agent in NOVEMBER and she told me how to get her off the policy- so I mailed my payment with the requested information. Then they continued to charge me for December, January, February and March. When I made a 16 page document to let them know they owed me money, they sent a little- but not in full. They say they overpaid me- but according to my records, they still owe me. I have been an aflac member for about 10 years- ending my insurance this month (although- I wonder how long it will take them to figure it out and if I will have the same issues) My aflac rep was useless with any assistance. read more

DO NOT GIVE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY TO THESE CROOKS! I have been a policy holder for over three years and have always paid my premium on time and kept my policy in good standing. When I got injured and needed the benefits my policy is supposed to provide all I have gotten is a run around with one stall tactic after another to keep from paying me the benefits that I am due. I filed my claim over two months ago and to date I have only been paid $90.00 even though my policy is for $900 per month or $30 per day. Aflac denied my valid claim twice and when they finally approved my valid claim they are trying to get away with only paying me half benefit for 6 days even though I am still disabled and under doctors care! Aflac still owes me $1530.00 dollars to date and they are still stalling and trying to get out from having to pay me my full benefit. If I had saved my policy premium instead of giving it to Aflac, I would have more than enough money to get by until my return to work! I would have saved more money then they actually owe me and would not need their help! PLEASE DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE CROOKS, YOU WILL REGRET IT! They give you the run around when trying to make a claim and then pay out the least amount possible. if you have a short term disability policy, remember to stay sick for longer then 7 days or they will not pay out. I've had this policy for over 12 years and never made a claim. now that I need it, they decided the claim was worth $60. That doesn't even cover the monthly premium I pay! when I told the agent I wanted to cancel she comes back with "but if you get into a accident today, it'll pay out immediately". I have had an Aflac Cancer policy since 2007. Got diagnosed with leukemia MDS and started treatment with chemo pills. Was told to take pic of bottle and submit. Worked fine first several months. Several months ago started rejecting claims. Said pic too dark. It is not. I can read and see everything fine. Lightened pics up and refaxed and mailed as well. Still declined. Why were earlier pics ok. They are looking for any reason possible yo deny claims. Have had horrible experience with them. Have declined over 1,000 of claims when I need the money most. Have waited weeks for current claims and says it is pending. So disappointed with Aflac. I see on line that many others are having similar experiences. For me, if they delay long enough I guess I will die. Sure the claims department knows that. read more

I have a vision policy with AFLAC that states unambiguously that upon a diagnoses of proliferative retinopathy, they will pay the insured 1,000. i sent abundant documentation of my diagnoses to AFLAC and they denied my claim. They said that they didn't agree with the treatment program and that it did not fit with the diagnoses. I'm sure they know more about it than my board-certified opthamologist. Besides, the 1.000 was to be paid for the diagnoses only. There is a separate benefit for the actual treatment. I talked to my agent and she said she would send me some paperwork and that we could appeal, which would take 2-3 weeks. I haven't received any paperwork and I doubt it will make a difference. I've seen case after case on multiple websites about AFLAC not paying claims on serious conditions. They'll pay your wellness benefits and that makes you think they'll be there if anything big goes wrong. I think their M.O. is to stall and make things so difficult and dispiriting that the policy holder gives up and cancels their policy. Then AFLAC Is money ahead, after collecting on all these policies that they never had any intention of honoring. I am not canceling my policy until I get satisfaction. If I don't get my money by August 1st I will take it to our state insurance regulators, the Better Business Bureau, and will let all my co-workers and friends know of my experience. I had a similar problem with a dental claim a few years back but they finally paid up after I said I was taking it to the state Department of Insurance. read more

We had no claims on either but just wanted to cancel the policies since my dad's death. They are making me jump through hoops to cancel policies on a deceased person. I a not believe how unscrupulous Aflac has been with my claim. I suffered a stroke and was hospitalized . I have a policy that covers strokes. six doctors at NY Presbyterian Hospital diagnosised my condition as a stroke but Aflac Doctors claimed it was an Eye disease. Where to start? Three years ago an Aflac rep came to our workplace and convinced us all how much we needed Aflac. So I signed up, for short term disability and accident, even paid extra for one day pay. Well the rep who sold us everything up and quit, and we all got letters in the mail saying our policies were cancelled for non payment... What??? Our money was coming out of our checks, well apparently the Aflac rep messed up paperwork with Piedmont who takes money out of our check and pays AFLAC, or at least is supposed to , they weren't. So another rep joins the company and shows up at my work, and says he is going to fix everything. So as far as we know he does. Money is coming out of my check, 60 plus dollars bi weekly for three years. That rep quits. As far as we know, no new rep comes over and a bunch of our guys want to sign up but nobody knows who to call. I leave multiple messages with Aflac out of GA, and send multiple messages since we are in Harrisburg Pa and I assume have no rep. Finally I get someone on the phone. About two months into emailing them and leaving messages I have surgery and need to use my short term disability. I have never filed a claim so this was my first. The first positive contact I have with Aflac is somehow getting through to a customer service person named Wintress. Finally someone who actually takes pride in their job. She informs me that I do in fact have disability but the second Aflac rep who said he fixed everything never reactivated my Accident policy, WOW!! I had been paying the premium to Piedmont for 2.5 plus years and there was no policy. Good damn thing I didn't need it huh?? So Wintress got me Piedmonts contact number to find out where all my missing money is. She then sent me the short term claim papers so I could get started on my claim. Once I got the paperwork completed, I faxed it all in. That was January 18, today is the 26th. It is still not showing online! Processing claims in 4 days? Bologna! Now they have all kinds of excuses... MLK day delayed processing, snow in Georgia last week delayed processing, now today, they told our rep ( who Wintress was able to find out who he was and put me in contact with him) that claims processing is running 7-10 days behind. But they obviously can't do the math because they set my claim to be reviewed on 2-1, that is 14 days after receiving the paperwork. Then how long after that will they pay? 4 days, 7 days?? meanwhile I went without pay because I had some stupid false sense of security thinking that AFLAC was a company with integrity that actually did what you paid them to do. Well they don't. I would highly suggest if you are looking for a short term company, look elsewhere. Aflac has horrible call centers, long customer wait times, apparently only one person there actually cares about her job, and they absolutely falsely represent how they process their claims. Aflac hires shady people. Sunday, June 23, 2019, Myself and 2 others drove to what once was E.A.R.T.H Animal Sanctuary founded by Corinne DiLorenzo located in Thawville, IL. September 2nd, 2018, the barn and duck house burned down, killing 8 pigs, 6 ducks, 6 geese and 20 chickens. As a board member, my intent today was to do a welfare check on the 2 remaining pigs since their status could not be confirmed. We walked through the EARTH pasture but did not find any living animals. We walked further into the pasture to the area that was once a peaceful resting area for the santuary's animal residents that had passed away and what we found was nothing less than horrific. There was an oblong shaped "ditch" filled with bag upon bag upon bag of the remains of dead animals. There were the remains of pigs that had been dragged out on a tarp or blanket and dumped in the hole. We saw skulls and bones of large pigs, medium sized pigs, goats of various ages, cats, dogs, birds/waterfowl, and rabbits. There were small bags inside of larger garbage bags as well as bags that contained multiple species of animals. We saw various states of decomposition. There were layers of animals and after about an hour of ripping thru bags with my hands, I couldnt do anymore. Have a look at the photos and keep in mind that when we left, there were still many more bags that had not been opened. The animal that appeared to have been put in the ditch most recently was a medium to large sized pig that still had flesh and black hair. His/her body was callously covered with the bottom of a blue rabbit cage. Corinne Dilorenzo claimed she was an animal lover, advocate, and vegan. She always said how pigs especially were her heart animal. I know that I have never thrown any of the animals I have ever loved in a ditch like they were trash. If I could give this company a 0 stars, I would. Last December, my company enrolled in Aflac. I signed up for the Short Term Disability as I was hoping to get pregnant and wanted to be covered during my FLMA. During my sign up, there was never a mention that there was a 10 month hold on normal pregnancies. I learned I was pregnany in February and was due 9/30 and delivered 2 weeks early. After submitting and having my claim rejected due to the 10 month policy, I contacted my Aflac rep who stated that they would work with me to receive a full refund of my premiums as I was sold a product that I would have benefited from. Three months later after two additional reviews, I am now being told that my claim is still rejected as I marked that I was pregnant during my application process. If I was pregnant in Decmeber, my child would have been born SOONER than a due date of 9/30. The continued excuses and run around from this company is horrible. They promote themselves has a fast turn around service for all policies that they promote. This is a horrible company and would not recommend it to anyone. read more
