Loved this place! I ate here everyday lol next time I have to try the chicken stew but the grilled fish and jollof rice was amazing!! Great service they also have a hot bar like grab and go ! Have you had an Whole Tilapia? You may not know but Paris is becoming very international so you will find American, Chinese, Mexican and Nigerian food all over. So let's get into this cute restaurant called African Kitchen. @africankitchenparis Luckily on my solo trip I got the chance to meet some pretty cool guys @j0shy__ and @fitgabito . And after a long day walking around Montmartre, Josh introduced to this restaurant. I'm not gone lie I was pretty sketch at first because I was not really trying to eat African food But no shade this was the best food I had while I was in Paris. I will let you know the food just as good as the picture looks. everythang SLAPPED! Literally my African roots jumped out after tasting everything on that plate. This was my first time having a whole fried Tilapia. The flavor and seasonings *chefs kiss. And the jollof rice had just as much flavor! I wanted to try the West African food in Paris so I took the train from Disneyland and stopped by African Kitchen. I read the reviews on Google and they were all positive so I popped in. The space is small but cozy and we got seated right away. The waitress was NOT attentive and was on the phone chatting away as we tried to get her attention several times. She later came over and took our order. I tried to even spark up a conversation with her, trying to be friendly, but she was too caught up on what was on her phone. I ordered the jollof with fish, side of plantains and stew. The total was 28.50€ which is absolutely asinine. That's almost $35 but we wanted a home cooked meal so we sucked it up. 40 minutes later, my food comes and the meat is goat meat. I told her that this was wrong and she tried to argue with me that it wasn't. I had to set her straight that I'm pescatarian and have been for almost 3 years so there's no way I said goat meat. She was too involved in her phone as I was ordering that she got it wrong. I was so upset as I had to wait another 30 minutes for the food to be done. It tasted good but I absolutely hate poor service. With the price and the service, then can hold these three stars. Sigh. read more

Excellent African restaurant in Paris! The restaurant is family ran and upon entering you're greeted. The space is small but very welcoming and easy to get to from the train. I had the joloff rice with chicken and plantains and my boyfriend had the same but with goat. The plantains are an upgrade but well worth it. The chicken and goat are very seasoned and delicious and the joloff rice is hands down one of my favorites. It has all the right flavors, but may be a little spicy to some. I highly recommend this place and wish I had it back in the US. read more

I was really excited to have found a Nigerian restaurant in Paris. We made a reservation for our date night. My fiancé is Ivorian and I am Nigerian, but we both LOVE suya. The online menu indicates that you have to preorder suya (15€), so we called the day before our reservation to do so. The lady who picked up was quite rude. She made a hassle about the online reservation. She then told us that suya wasn't on the menu even though it is clearly on the online menu. After explaining to her that it was in the online menu, she changed her story and said that the owners of the restaurant only make suya for people that they know. This made no sense to us. We finally asked to speak to the chef who agreed to make us suya. We arrive at the restaurant the next night and it is empty. It was difficult to understand why such a hassle was made over our reservation as there was no one in the restaurant. We sit down and the same lady we spoke to on the phone the day before is our server. We inform her that we preordered suya. She then proceeds to tell us for the first time that we have to order two portions of suya. After some argument from us based on principle, we decided to take the second portion. When the suya arrived we were very upset because of the small portion size. Not at all worth 15€... All in all, the food was decent. The service, on the other hand, is what will prevent us from going back to African Kitchen. The food definitely did not make up for the poor service and rude/incompetent behaviour of the server. read more

Great tasting food. Came here late summer of 2017. I ordered the jollof rice with chicken and plaintain. It was VERY flavorful. Service was pretty decent and quick. However, the portion to price ratio is completely awful. Paid close to $30 USD for what would cost me $8 usd in the states. I was originally going to give 3 stars but gave 4 because of the robust flavor. Sadly, if you are in this area of paris, you don't have much of any other options for west african food. read more

Not at all impressed with the food or service here, but lets focus on the food. We ordered : rice and stew with chicken: fishy taste and just tomatoes with hardly any other spices. Awful! Pounded yam and egusi: about 6 table spoons worth of soup and two pieces of meat for €17 Pounded Yam and Ogbono: ewwww, we couldnt even eat the ogbono soup. Fishy and horrible. The best thing was the goat meat peppersoup. Sadly, Paris is starved of Nigerian restaurants, but this spot would never survive on London. I will not be going back for sure. read more

Delicious. Portion size was perfect for me. I finished every bit and was very satisfied. I visited this restaurant again in December 2018. I was very happy to have a home food place to visit but I must tell you, it is quite expensive. Vegetable with eba is €35. Even if you don't want swallow, the price is the same. Side order of plantain with small tomato sauce was €7.50. I compared the €35 I paid for eba to other dinner at more upscale restaurant, it definitely was on the high side. I can understand the reason why they had to charge so much, there was never any other customer whenever I visit. So I assume that the few that visits pay the overhead to keep the place open. read more

Food was awesome! I had the pepper soup, jollof rice with goat. Everything was seasoned to perfection!

As a fellow Nigerian I know what my jollof should taste like and the rice here exceeded my expectations. Everything was well seasoned. The owner was quite lovely. We even got free Suya on the house. In love with this place. Definitely would recommend if you like African food or just tasty food period. read more

If you're craving some west Africans cuisine in Paris, then this is the place to visit. The goat-meat appetizer was delicious as the meat was tender and fell off the bone. The portions were generous and the food was served steaming hot. My only regret was not ordering more to take home for later! read more

Food is good. But portion size sucks. For jollof rice alone, it's probably a one cup serving, which is bogus for the price! I really only eat the rice and plantain... my husband eats the meat and he had to order to whole meals to feel like he had a decent dinner. We go to support the business and because it's the only Nigerian food we know in Paris, but I'm never rushing there because I know I will not be satisfied. Hopefully these comments will show them where to improve. read more

I am a big supporter / cheerleader of African businesses. However, my experience at African Kitchen Paris, leaves me with little choice but to give this restaurant a bad review. First of all, I hiked almost 40 minutes on Metro in a opposite direction of restaurants I would even consider eating at. First the location is located in a questionable area, but that aside I was eager to try the food. I have never had Nigerian food served in a restaurant be so salty and not taste authentic. The servers, I would commend where great, however the owner wasn't so pleasant. I actually decided to visit this restaurant because of the touching story I read about Ms. Olivia, little did I know that she has the mentality of I am too big and too busy to greet customers. Business 101, word of mouth is the best marketing tool out there, especially in small business. Sorry I have had better food. Take lessons from Teranga Restaurant in Boston Ma, USA with excellent service, ambiance, tasty food, and homemade drink offers. Sorry I really wanted to visit and brag about your restaurant, but you disappointed me. Hopefully you take this as constructive criticism and do better. read more
