Ok- I've eaten at Agave restaurant twice and the food is always spot on and employees are so super nice. You are offered immediately upon sitting chips and 2 kinds of salsa!! My only regret was not taking any pictures of my food!! They sell jars of their delicious mole $12 so you can add it to your creations at home, ( yes I bought a jar). Dined in for the first time. First thing I noticed was the service. Gentlemen that greeted us at the door was amazing. We were going to sit near the door but he noticed we had a child and it was chilly out so he kindly offered to move us to a table in the other dining area. That's great customer service! The food was amazing! Noticed the owner was walking around and saying hi to customers, you just don't see that anymore in restaurants. Went here on my way to a camping trip with my husband for lunch. We were greeted by friendly staff members and sat in the back of the restaurant. Love how clean the restroom was and there were a lot people around when we went there for lunch. We got free salsa and chips. I ordered a Diego's burrito and my husband got the taco meat place. The burrito was soooo good. It came out hot and fresh! The burrito was big and I only was able to eat 1/4 of it and I saved the leftovers for later. I love the meat, the combination of ingredients and the grilled onion as garnish. I did give a try or the red pepper and it was really spicy. My husband said the taco dish he had was good but I def think my burrito was wayyy better. Def recommend this place!! read more

My birthday was on the 28th of October and made a call to confirm my reservation for 5. I made it a month in advance, but was not found on the list for that evening. Humberto, on the phone, said "don't worry sir, I'll take care of you when u get here. We arrived and He had gave us a perfect table that was comfortable and situated in the center of the restaurant. The ambiance was festive, the staff in their Halloween costumes were a nice touch, the service was attentive and speedy, drinks were refreshing, the meal was really delicious, music on hit, and wife and my kids loved the restaurant whole time there. The Agave Salad was another dish that I enjoyed eating, Salad was filling and the dressing had a little spice to it which went well with the braised chicken. The food is Good here and the dinning nice. Fully recommend but.... What is not good is their phone service. Try to order by calling in and while they take order after order while leaving you listening. This is rude and needs to be addressed maybe hire someone to just take phone orders because the restaurant is so popular. (This for those who do not order say online or being able to come in and order... Disabled or Seniors etc..). Getting an Ordering app on your website would be a huge plus for someone like me who travels for clients needs when needed and my clients eat here 6-7 times a month some times once a week every week depending upon their current situation. And they always take or recommend to their visitors. I am an in home caregiver and when ordering for my clients and being able to go in and pickup the food is quick and I am able to get back to my clients. Picked up food to go today , Wednesday, after sitting at the bar having a cocktail. I've ordered the chili relleno in the past as it's one of my favorites, however, this afternoon it was not good. the pepper was barely cooked and the flavor of the mole' was not the same. We also ordered a shrimp burrito and the shrimp was dry like it was from the day before. Changes over the past year or so are starting to show a decline in quality. There are many excellent Mexican restaurants in Healdsburg, this boasts Oaxacan cuisine and it is outstanding. Agave is upscale in taste, presentation, and attention to detail. Ate here the other day with my daughter and we were both very happy we went there. I got the carnitas plate and she got the Tlayuda w/ Pastor. Both were excellent and big! The mango drink was also good. Definitely well prepared and presented. The staff were all friendly and attentive. The bathroom was clean too, another item I rate on! Best authentic Mexican food in the Santa Rosa area! Reasonable prices too, especially considering we came home with extra for a snack later. Came in town for the day. Had lunch with a few friends after their kids played baseball. This was the spot they chose. A friend who owns a vineyard frequently orders from here, so he treated us here. I enjoyed my experience at Agave greatly. The food showed great levels of authenticity and freshness. I got the roasted pineapple margarita and it was great (strong, but solid). Ate Octavio's salad ($14), chips with pico de gallo($4), and a negra modelo beer($6). That cost $24 before tax / tip. Though I liked the meal well enough and ate it all, there were many glaring faults. Pico de gallo was hardly anything more than diced tomatoes. Good tasting tomato, but no diced onion, no jalapeño, no cilantro, no garlic, no pasillo chili sauce. So bland and boring. I liked the dressing on the Octavio romaine lettuce salad as it was creamy and piquant. Greens were crispy. Thin slices of raw red & yellow beets & red radishes were tasty. Generous amount of smooth avocado slices. But the goodly amount of diced asada chicken breast was waaayyyyy overcooked, dried out. I had to spoon a bit of pico de gallo on every bit of chicken to moisten it. My lovely lunch companion (I'm married to her), ordered the same plate. Her opinion matches mine. Dining room is pleasant enough, though far from fancy. The servers were all paragons of graciousness. Meal was delivered pronto, 1:00pm on a rainy January Sunday. Restaurant had 4 other diners. But given that our 2 meals cost $56 with tax and tip I don't think that I got good value for my money. I have eaten at just about every one of the 100's of Mexican restaurants in Sonoma county. I have my favorites for sure. Agave here merely rates in the middle of the pack. Truth be told, I'll probably never return. 3 stars. read more

Average at best. Luckily, we arrived early before the rush. Initially, it was clear that the wait staff lacked organization, with no designated tables. Throughout our meal, we had to flag down multiple servers for various items and remind them about missing parts of our order. The guacamole, salsa, and tortilla chips were delicious, but unfortunately, the experience declined from there. We opted for a mixed platter featuring thinly sliced carne asada, chicken mole, and shredded chicken, advertised as suitable for two. Surprisingly, we received only three small corn tortillas for the entire meal. When we requested more, we were informed there would be an extra charge for just three additional tortillas, and they brought flour tortillas instead. The carne asada and steak were notably bland and needed salsa for flavor. Overall, the meal left us dissatisfied, and we won't be returning. For the price, we've enjoyed far better food from food trucks that cost a fraction of what we paid here. read more

My wife opted for the more tradicional moladas, unfortunately they only serve two of these, that were also very flavorful. I was hungry for Mexican food, takeout, and just pulled off the road and stumbled on Agave. I thought I'd order my traditional standby burrito, chili Verde super with everything on it. But they didn't have that. So I looked at their menu I took a chance on one of the first burritos on their list. I forgot the name but it was Seabass with avocado and grilled vegetables in a wheat tortilla. man oh man, it's my new favorite burrito! It is so flavorful with no one flavor overwhelming. It's a balance of fresh delicious food and I will definitely come back and order it again and see what else they have. There's salsa is just the right amount of hot with the complementary chips they provided. Thumbs up to this place and my first experience was exceptional.
