I though there only few since its lunch break. Im hassle in buying my groceries since there is someone blocking my way went I went to ther selection. I spend an hour buying all the staff that I need. Perfect neighborhood market! The store has an open layout and is airy, but is small enough to still feel like a good local establishment. It is also clean and has a similar feel of a mini-marianos with 37 pieces of Latin flair. (I mean, what do you think of people that do the bare minimum?...) They have a good selection of produce and a nice deli. The produce is fresh and are at very reasonable prices! The staff is very friendly and they want to make sure you leave with everything you are looking for. They seem also very receptive to suggestions, which is refreshing to know that there are grocery stores that really want to be a service to the community. Also don't overlook the liquor section, as it may not be an albatross liquor store... but the beer selection is honed in. This place was huge. They have free parking. The floor was clean. The staff are busy doing their job. I went to the selection of produce products. I bought some veggies and fruits including apple, grapes, banana, cherry, strawberry, pineapple, lettuce, carrots, cabbage, corn, lemon, pear, mango and tomato. It was all fresh. Aside from that I bought chips, cookies and juice. They have cold drinks so I bought coke and drank it. I also buy burgers and fries since I get hungry when buying all of my groceries. I like their fries. And their burger was also good. It's perfect for the coke that I bought. About their customer service, it was great. The staff was nice and friendly. They are available if you need help. I highly recommend this grocery store. read more

They have like 3 extra charges on top of state tax. One is for a bag, and you get charged even if you bring your own bag. The other one is 10.25% and I have no idea why they charge that. Awfully rude checkout ladies. Updated 2019: the store stopped with the extra charges. I'm glad we all spoke up because that was incredibly illegal. They have hired friendly cashiers. Things are getting better. Still you have to check the quality of the produce, more often than not the produce is very close to expiry. Overall the store has improved in customer service and they stopped ripping customers off with hidden charges. read more

The store was clean and bright. The shelves are all very well-organized and fully stocked as well. The goodies have a good quality. The produce section is full of fresh fruits and veggies. Butcher section is wide and full of good quality meats. The liquor selection is also nice and the selection is wonderful. I like their prepared foods because it is convenient and although prepared it still have a nice taste and flavor. I have been here for a few times and what I have observed is compared to the other grocery stores around the prices of the most of the products in here is noticeable higher. But it is still a great store and I would still definitely go here to buy some goodies. read more

We just moved to this area about a month ago. We immediately fell in love with this place this first time we went and have fallen more in love with every trip. It's a two blocks away from our house and we can do all of our grocery shopping here. They have a curated selection of quality goods. More than that, their customer service is on point. All of the employees are friendly and seem genuinely happy to be working there. Today we walked over for our weekly grocery haul. We ended up getting more than we expected and so made a comment when checking out about not knowing how we would carry everything home. The cashier offered to get us an uber to help out. This place was awesome up to a month ago. Whoever does the liquor buying (specifically vodka) has made it so we will have to choose a new grocery store for all our future purchases. There were a few customers next to me having the same issues. High end vodka then super low end. No in-between!? I get whoever does the buying probably doesn't drink vodka. You are great at beer. Love this grocery store! The produce is always fresh, they have a really large selection (always in stock whereas other grocery chains here I'm struggling to find certain items often times), and the prices are VERY reasonable. They have some great craft beer here and are always stocked with new varieties each week. My favorite thing about this place though would have to be their deli counter. 6" sub sandwiches for $6-7 can not be beat! They are the best. I searched for a long time for a decent cold sub sandwich in this area and couldn't believe it was right here. So glad I discovered these, I always get them. This is my go to store, even after I have moved away from being around the corner I still drive here. There is a parking lot you can park in for free. I never have trouble finding a spot. read more

This place is a short 3 minute walk from my home and I frequent this small, yet extremely well stocked grocery weekly. Great deli, butcher, wine/beer and produce sections (I can get daikon here). Also a wide array of international selections like Thai, Indian and Mexican items. The prices are pretty decent as well. My only issues are that the bread selection is weak as are the snacks. But my main gripe is that some of their items are damaged, yet still put on the shelves. I purchased a slightly crushed box of chicken broth that when I brought it home discovered that the inner seal had popped due to the damage and the broth had gone bad. Outside of that I will gladly return here instead of going to a larger, more commercial grocery store with inflated prices. I still need to try the restaurant inside. read more

This is my all-time favorite grocer. First of all, with a name that includes "fresh," you damn well better have great produce. Fresh Market Place goes above and beyond in that regard. Nothing on the shelf is less than excellent and management makes a point to constantly check quality. In fact, they even bought their own farm recently to have more control on their supply line. For a midsize store, they pack in so many items and their variety is constantly expanding. From vegan items to high-end meats, Asian ingredients to Latin staples, FMP has it all! On top of selling quality products at a fair price, Fresh Market Place is so responsive to customer comments. If you can't find an item, let the store know and it will likely be stocked within a week. Everyone who works here is so friendly and they really established themselves as a big part of the neighborhood. read more

What else would a girl want?? I live a block away and usually cook for two people. This place has everything I need, carry them in small packages and have awesome staff on top of it! And the quirky hipster packaged goods (organic drinks, nice alcohol selections, unusual sweets) they carry are always fun to try. Well-stocked with excellent products, courteous employees always willing to help you find what you want, and a clean safe store that I am glad to patronize rather than the impersonal chain stores. 2020 was a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad year in many ways. Eating out became a pastime and it was back to regular home-cooked meals. Luckily we rediscovered Fresh Market this year. They have a good selection of produce, much fresher than the local Jewel. They also sell Slagel meats here. Slagel is a small farm in southern Illinois and you'll see their meats in many menus in Chicago restaurants. Ever since we visited the Slagel farm a few years ago, we've been on the lookout for their meat but can usually only find it at PQM. Fresh Market stocks their meat department with Slagel, from ground beef to eggs to rib roast on special order. It's pricier but worth it. For example, we always get their ground beef. You know how raw ground meat looks like brains and when you cook it if you don't mash it up enough it retains that gross brainy texture? Well for whatever reason Slagel ground beef is so easy to crumble up when you cook it. I don't know if it's their ratio or their cows but it works and as crazy as it sounds, I'll pay extra for it. read more

I moved away two years ago and forgot how much I miss Fresh Market Place on Western. The man who owns the store always asks me if I found what I needed and if I didn't find something he actually has brought it into the store. They carry brands that I can't even get at Marianos- Daiya sliced cheddar, King Arthur whole wheat flour, and others. I'm just amazed how this small is store can I have unusual brands that I want. The store is definitely one of the nice grocery stores when it comes to the quality of the products especially their produce and meat. Whenever I go near this area, I do not miss to also visit the store always after I knew that they have great quality and nice selection of produce and meat. The store is also clean and the layout is easy and everything is well-organized making it easy and convenient each time I would go in here. It is definitely not the biggest store but they do have great selection of products. The staff is friendly and it is sometimes quick in the checkout and there are also times that there is a long line and I have to wait for a while. Everything seems pretty great in here except for their prices. I bet everyone know that prices in here is kind of expensive compared to the other groceries around making them not really the best option for regular and big groceries shopping but definitely a good choice if you wanted high quality produce and meat like me once in a while. read more

We have ordered from here for group lunches a couple of times at work. The first time was (for the money) wonderful. The second time, I have to admit was considerably disappointing. We ordered through GrubHub and on the menu, for the Greek Chicken it says "with potatoes and grilled vegetables". What I got was beans and rice. Yes, it was edible, but not what I expected. Beans and rice does not (in my opinion) jive well with GREEK chicken. Again, for the money, so far, I have liked this place. However, if the menu states one thing, that is what I expect to get. We planned to make a fruit shake and cupcake to sell in the park. It was a holiday and there were so many people there. My wife wanted to make cupcakes and fruit shakes so yesterday we came to this grocery shop. There are few people inside. I grabbed one cart and we started to grab the products we needed. We purchased milk, flour, baking powder, white sugar, chocolate cacao, and many more. We also bought a cup, paper glass, paper plate, plastic spoon and pork and plastic. After that we went to the fruit section and we bought lemon, honey, strawberry, mango, guyabano, avocado and watermelon. My wife was happy since we bought all of our needs. I love fresh market place! Their salad bar and hot bar is my favorite go to when getting a bite to eat. They have so many unique finds for the healthy guru or if you want to try any micro-brew finds. I LOVE THIS STORE! Where else can you walk in at 8:45pm and get Quail Eggs, White Miso, Wonton skins, Cashew Milk, chilled wine and craft beer AND a fresh made taco?!? This store is super convenient for me. My self described 'Cheap & Cheerful' husband points out its pricey... yeah a bit but I'm happy to pay more for their gorgeous produce, Publican bread, selection of great cheese and they juice tangerines for us. Love this store. Avoid the hassles of national megastores like Marianos, Jewel, Target. This is an extremely well-stocked, locally-owned full service grocery store. Excellent produce and Ben keeps a fantastic meat department (with real butchers!) with a good variety, including local producers. The store is clean, employees are friendly. It's my go-to store. Even during the craziness going on with Corvid-19, they've done a great job keeping their sense of humor and the store has been exceptionally well-stocked (unlike the bombed out feeling of Marianos). read more

So after multiple visits, I must say I'm a fan! Probably have stopped in 6-7 times since it opened. It's smaller than I thought, but slightly bigger than FoodSmart, another store I'm a fan of. Had a decent produce section and solid beer selection. People are giving out samples on the weekend and I got to taste their fresh squeezed orange juice and some dumplings. The hot food area has an interesting mix of food items to purchase as you can order things ranging from standard Mexican fare (tacos, flautas, carnitas, rice and beans,etc), to items such as waffle fries, burgers, and gyros. I definitely appreciate the somewhat random items there. Prices are kinda high for standard packaged items but I would go here for produce, meat, and hot food to take home for an easy dinner. The first weekend it was open a dude named Rico was selling delicious tamales outside the store. I haven't seen him since then. Rico where are you? I miss your tamales! read more

I shouldn't take credit for the kinks being worked out - but let's just say you really got me now. As a new neighborhood resident I have been thoroughly enjoying the hot food bar (small carnitas + medium veggies out the door for about 6$), an improved alcohol selection (cold prosecco (often not avail at liquor store down block) is most clutch on weekends especially combined with the fresh squeezed OJ also avail in-store), and the improved selection of butter (I can now get human-breastfed cow's butter for 4$ (2 sticks). The other day I went across the lot to buy aluminum foil (thinking it would be cheaper at dollar store) and was unpleasantly surprised that I paid more at the dollar store than it costs at Fresh Market. Keep up the good work! So glad this place wasn't razed and turned into a condo-high rise. read more

Lots of high marks for this place I see - I had one stuffed pepper and a side of chicken fajitas. The stuffed pepper had no rice blended in the meat, and it was so greasy I am still burping it up at it's been 4 hours. The Chicken fajitas were just about the worst I have ever had. For a store that is run by Latin people, one would think they would know how to make GOOD chicken fajitas - this place does not. They may have nice prices or quality on produce or wines, I would not know that because all I went there was for the food during my lunch hour. Big mistake. read more

A much-needed addition to the neighborhood as this area was sorely lacking a grocery store of any kind. You don't count, Walgreens. I go here at least twice a week for the salad bar (that I'm hoping they change the sneeze guard on as it's hard to see/reach the items further back) and other items I can make easily for lunch. They have a bunch of vegetarian items that I like to see at a grocery store; tofurkey sausages, faux chicken and a modest selection of Morning Star/Boca. Quick spot to pick up some decent beer (though I'm usually drinking cheaper lite beers) and the fact that there's a little mexican restaurant built in doesn't hurt either. If you don't see something, ask - they probably have it, and if they don't they might start carrying it for you if they can find the room to stock it. Oh, and this is part of what I've been calling the "Walk Western" path - starting down at Challengers Comics (or coming off of the 606), hitting Margie's/Quesadilla/The Art of Chicken/Paladar/this grocery store for a bite to eat, grabbing something sweet at GBD, hunting to get a piece of your childhood back at Toy de Jour, looking for oddities at Sideshow Gallery, and ending up at Logan Arcade. Great date day all in one stretch of Western that most people miss while doing the same old Milwaukee Ave stuff. All this while getting some exercise walking Western! read more

Do yourself a favor and patronize this great neighborhood store. They have fresh squeezed juices (not just orange, but things like apple celery or beet carrot), great produce (including an awesome selection of peppers), specialty Mexican foods (i.e. fresh corn tortillas, hominy, hot sauces, etc.), and a small meat section. The prices are competitive, and it's hardly ever crowded -- the experience is much better than Mariano's (which I don't like at all). And let's not forget the cafe, which is really a yuppified taco stand. Anything al pastor is phenomenal, and the red pork tamales are the jam. Staff is super friendly and I just feel better giving my money to a store like this than a Mariano's (where their purported "homemade soups" contain more chemicals than a science lab - read the placards). read more

So far so good! This has reopened under a new name with a new look. It's a good little neighborhood market for picking up a few things or keeping yourself stocked. I think the meat & vegetable selection & prices are spot on. The boxed & packaged goods are a little high in price but that's to be expected at a smaller store. In my initial trip, the staff was very friendly & sociable, the store was clean & well lit and everything was well stocked. If they keep on this track it'll be a regular stop for me!! read more

This is our local Grocer and we are so lucky to have it! The people who work here are amazing. They are helpful, constantly available and eager to assist. The produce section and butcher are truly gems. The butchers are constantly modifying cuts of meat for me even if they were pre packaged and they offer a wide variety of cuts. Produce variety is large, fresh and well priced. I find lots of clean ingredient salad dressings, dips and other condiments I used to have to go to Whole Foods to find! Salsa and guac are clutch as well as their hot food counter. Great for a quick snack or lunch. Thanks fresh market for being so great! read more

I am a regular, and I mean I come here once or even twice every day. And still, not only do they always have what I want in stock (alfalfa sprouts! shallots! PIMM's! veggie burger patties! rice wine vinegar!) they are always surprising me with new products and more organic options. There are even fancy dark chocolates and beautiful cakes here, and a REALLY professional deli team. The salad and soup bar is so convenient if you live in the neighborhood and need lunch fast, or even if you want to grab lots of pre-cut veggies for your dinner stir-fry. And best of all, the people here will always listen to you if you'd like them to carry something new.
