Alessandro is the owner of the villa and he has to be one of the nicest people I have ever met. He really made it feel like we were staying with family. In fact, I don't think my family could have treated us as well as Alessandro did. He's just an all around genuine person who really cares about making sure his guests feel at home. The accommodations were very much to our liking. Spacious room, comfortable bed, and a large bathroom on the second level. Downstairs was the dining room and the food served at the villa was simply amazing. It's been a month since we left Italy and we have yet try having eating Italian food here. Part of the reason is because I know it can't possibly measure up to Alessandro's menu. My wife commented that she was ruined for pasta unless we go back. There's just no comparison to the pasta dishes we eat here in the U.S because the freshness and quality at the villa was as good as it can possibly get. The home made tiramisu was a slice of heaven, too. I'll never forget it. It is a place you can bring your kids as we saw other couples with their kids. This was our honeymoon so the kids were at home. The pool wasn't ready for use while we were there but come in June and it would like be open. No shortage of towns to visit that are nearby. Our favorite was Cortona, especially at night. Alessandro has plenty of recommendations if you are not sure of where you'd like to go. He even let me borrow his bike for a ride in the countryside and took my wife and I for a short drive to see the surrounding countryside during one of our first days there. This was one of the best travel experiences we could have hoped for and it is our hope we can travel back to this beautiful Tuscan countryside villa for another stay. Also, if you are a local or passing through, be sure to reserve a table for dinner. You'll be glad to you did!!

From the initial email until even after our stay the team at Terre Di Nano surpassed all of our expectations and dreams. We reserved our stay at Terre Di Nano sight unseen and without having met anyone on the team. This lead to a lot of worry about whether it would be as special as the pictures and reviews online promised....it was far better. As we drove up to the venue the views were breathtaking and the property itself the perfect Tuscan retreat. As beautiful as the venue was it was surpassed by the people who welcomed us into their family and made sure that every wish and hope was realized. We were nervous about the food as we did not have an opportunity to do a tasting before - it was fantastic throughout our stay as was the wine and the tasting we did onsite. Our wedding was a very special and emotional day - this place and these people are so special and helped us accommodate every challenge. We left the next day in happy tears as we said goodbye and look forward to being back soon. Even after we left, one of our guests forgot an item and the team located and worked with us to ship it back. You feel love and care everywhere here, from the comfort of rooms, the decor, the food, to the every detail of the grounds and the service. It's amazing that this building was the residence of Pope Pius II in the 15th century. We had such a good time here, didn't want to leave. And the tiny village is beautiful, we walked in the mornings and in the evenings, and the views of the Tuscan valley below are breathtaking. Oh, and the view from our room (221) was incredible (it's of the old belltower and the ancient hot springs baths, I couldn't stop taking photos). Not too many American tourists here, which felt very special. Highly recommend this gem of a place! Extra shout out to Laura, Diego and Chiara, and Patrick at front desk!

We really debated on whether to stay in one of the hill towns or in an agriturismo, and we're really glad we made the decision to stay here. It's centrally located within Tuscany and it was fairly easy to get around to all of the hill towns (whereas if you stay in the hill towns, there are parking issues and it can take a while to get in/out of the congestion). The hospitality at Fonte Bertusi can't be beat -- everyone is extremely nice, helpful and prompt in addressing any questions or concerns. The breakfast is great, but would advise that you come on the earlier side, as we were the last ones in a few times and some of the items were gone. Also be sure to try the cappuccino with the egg foam -- my husband is now an addict. The apartments also come with enough kitchen supplies to be able to make light meals. We made pici three out of our four nights at home without a problem of missing any key utensils or dinnerware. The only downside is that it was raining a lot while we were there and it was somewhat chilly (not the fault of the hosts, obviously), so we weren't able to enjoy the outside areas as much as we were hoping to. It would be heavenly to be there during warmer weather and read in the back area and share a bottle of wine during a sunset. And with the rain, there was a bit of a damp smell in the apartment sometimes, but fortunately opening the windows usually aired it out.

The area is superb, it offers classical Tuscan scenery, but it not nearly as touristic as anything you'd find to the north or the south. The grounds and the scenery are beautiful. The pool was great and the layout of the space made the perfect wedding venue. The scenery is absolutely stunning, the apartments had good facilities (small kitchen, nice clean bathroom) and there was a nice big swimming pool shared by the apartments. For the wedding a dinner was organised in the castle courtyard with superb food and wine made from the castle vineyards and afterwards we had a big party in the courtyard at first and later between the buildings housing the apartments. For a wedding this is a real idyllic location. For a normal holiday it is also very nice as your pretty close to Sienna, Florence and all kinds of nice Tuscan towns, however you really need a car to get to places. Even if you only want to stay at the castle then you still need to get groceries and since the closest store is at least a few miles away you can't really get there without a car.

We have made friends and lasting memories. This stay was just spectacular and the exact kind of pampering and luxurious experience we were hoping for. We decided, this time, to stay at the Palazzo Carletti. The Palazzo Carletti is a gorgeous piece of historical elegance. We knew a little bit about the history of this building. For example, it was the communist headquarters during World War II. Interesting right? During that time many of the magnificent ceiling frescoes had been enclosed to conserve energy/heat. When the new owner broke through the ceiling barrier to expose these great frescoes, I can only imagine his excitement. The Palazzo Carletti is a boutique hotel nestled right up from the wonderful Cafe Polizziano, right in the heart of the highest mountain town in Tuscany, Montepulciano . This special hotel has only 5 rooms that are accessed off of the grand room that drips in history and beautiful frescos. The family that owns this gem are exemplary hosts and we felt like the most special people on earth during our stay. The concierge was just lovely. She was so elegant and composed in her position and ensured our stay here was a perfect 10. The breakfasts that are served in the grand room each morning were fantastic. We had the great fortune of staying in the Albany Suite and it was amazing. Ceiling frescoes, luxurious bedding, super modern bathroom, to die for, and a perfect Tuscan view from our balcony where we drank our cappuccino each morning...... The Dolce Vita!!
