Pulled into town and the first stop was Ah Juice Organics. We had been wanting to eat here again since last year's discovery. We grabbed a couple chicken & roasted beet wraps & we're not disappointed. I also got an espresso protein smoothie that was amazing. We also grabbed some cacao matcha protein bars as well & highly recommend them for a quick snack. The next afternoon we decided that we needed more Ah Juice Organics in our lives & grabbed some lunch after a workout. Today's choice was the chicken & sauerkraut sandwich. Such a cute and quaint little juicery! Had a craving for a smoothie while I was out exploring Santa Barbara, and Yelp led me to this place. My first impression was: Dang this place is kyyyuuuute! The little patio and garden space kind of sold me instantly. Because y'all know I loves me a nice little patio! The interior was cozy and rustic too. Most of the staff members I encountered were friendly, but one of the girls seemed to have an attitude. Luckily she wasn't the one who served me, but she let it be known that she was not having a good day. Their menu offerings are pretty extensive for a place this size. I was actually pretty impressed with the selections. They not only make juices and smoothies, but they also serve breakfast, lunch, coffee, tea, and pressed juices. Talk about choices! I should also add that they carry a lot of vegan options. So, definitely something for everyone here. Since I had already eaten not too long before I arrived there, I opted for a smoothie only. I do find with my palate, that I need to add water to the fresh pressed juices just because they are so strong for me and concentrated and extracted. But that is really a testament to the quality and integrity of the product. Wholesale, intentional delicious food. Essentially you are getting more bang for your buck when you get juice here because extraction is so pure. I appreciate the sustainability with the glass bottle deposit and really also enjoy the warm, healthy soups. I really hate leaving bad reviews however, this one is needed. I door-dashed AH juice, got the chicken sandwich, chicken soup, and hot chocolate. Let me start with the soup. It was sooooo bland. First, it had NO chicken... full of broccoli. NO flavor or salt... tastes like veggie broth. The sandwich tasted funky to me, might be the cashew sauce they add. They barely put chicken... paid for bread... was super super oily. Now, hot chocolate, I immediately gagged... tasted like dirt. I understand it's not normal hot chocolate however, if you are going to try a twist on a hot chocolate, at least sample it 100 times. Idk wtf that was. Fantastic organic cafe! They have amazing vegan breakfast items, plus eggs, chicken etc for omnivores. The soup was great, my daughter had the chia porridge and loved it, the acai ginger smoothie (with light ginger ordered) was deemed the most delicious smoothie my wife has ever had. Bonus: the Americano was perfectly roasted, actually better than most coffee shops that tend to overdo the roast for me. Overall, a good lunch experience. They have three tables for two outside with nice shady spots under umbrellas. You order at the counter and they deliver it to your table. My Chinese chicken salad was delicious. It has a lot of cashews and a good dressing and chopped green lettuce. I got a vanilla latte and they mentioned that the vanilla was organic and taste a little different. Not sure what that meant but I was willing to give it a try. It tasted like an Irish coffee and honestly I'm so sensitive to alcohol that my face turned beet red and I felt a little intoxicated. Utterly disappointed by a potentially great spot. I've recently been dealing with health issues and have an extremely restrictive diet (I can only eat most veggies, some fruits, and high quality meat, poultry, fish- that's it). It's been very difficult and one of the things that has made me feel better is finding organic, healthy food options that I can eat around town. When I heard about AH juice Organics, I was so excited to check it out! The first time I went in, the woman was very helpful and accommodating! Bought $50 worth of product and loved it so much that the next morning, I drove straight over to get breakfast. Since the woman had been so helpful and understanding, I was ready to start coming here everyday. I'm a loyal customer to places that have high quality products AND treat me well. Money is not an issue if I'm buying high quality food to nourish my body, but I'm not frivolous about it. I walk into the completely empty cafe and the man working as the cashier was on the phone. No problem, I'm waiting and he's not acknowledging me, which is ok cause I'm not in a rush. He gets off the phone, writing down something, still blatantly ignoring my existence, and then goes in the back and looks at me weirdly from back there. I can already feel that something different is going on. He slowly walks over and asks me what I want in a voice that is the voice of boredom death. I begin explaining my dietary restrictions and I'm asking what my options are. He is clearly looking inconvenienced about my questions and goes to the back to ask a higher up, who turns back and looks even more annoyed with me. The manager (owner?) saunters over and begins to condescendingly explain that they don't do substitutions and that I would have to pay extra and he is being very aggressive about it. At this point, I've lost my patience. First, there food is already expensive. I was asking what my options were so I could budget for the future trips to their cafe. I didn't care how much it was going to cost until the manager started acting like a jerk about it. The entire experience was so disappointing. There aren't a lot of food places I can eat at, but this one was promising. I refuse to give my money to people who treat me as an inconvenient customer, rather than a friend and neighbor. Mesa Verde didn't have ONE thing I could eat, but I left their restaurant with a giant smile on my face because the staff was trying so hard to work with me and felt really bad that they couldn't accommodate me. I've been to Ah Juice a few times in the past and enjoyed my food. I was very disappointed to see that this business is not using masks despite a current public health order requiring masks. No staff members were masked and there was no attempt to require masks of customers who were standing in line indoors. It's one thing to decide not to wear a mask when visiting friends, but it's totally different when you are operating a business dealing with the public. Do they also think it's not necessary to follow public health requirements that restaurant employees wash their hands after going to the bathroom or handling raw meat? For a place that supposedly serves healthy food, they have sent a clear message that their preferences are more important than their customers' and employees' health. I won't be returning. read more
