AC was turning off cild air flow after a few hours. Called AW. I told them the error message before booking them. Tech came completely unaware what the issue was. Spent a bunch of time talking to people at the office and learning about the AC, destroyed the insulation in my air handled, and closed it up all ripped up. Took a guess as to the problem at best. Quoted me $875 for a guess.....my guess and wouldn't tell me the breakdown of the quote. Now I have to pay someone to fix the insulation in the handler and am still looking for a knowledge company. read more

In December 2021, I chose Air West AC because they came highly recommended by my neighbor who went to HVAC school with one of the owners. I was confident that they would do a great job for me. They recommended a 3.5 ton/ 15 SEER Heat Pump Air Conditioning System with a 5 kilowatt heatstrip with a 30 amp breaker. It's been exactly 3 years since I've paid $6000.00 for a Rheem unit. Everytime, I want to use the HVAC there's a problem. I've had to contact Air West 3-4 times in 2024 each time incurring a $100 trip fee. When the power goes out (ex. Hurricanes season) the heat pump stops working and has to be reset. In February 2025, the heat pump was blowing air but no heat so I contacted Air West. The repairman said: 1. That my unit was not large enough to heat my house... What?!! 2. They should have put in at least a 7-9 kw heatstrip in instead of a 5kw in the air handler when I purchased it. 3. My expansion valve on the back of the compressor had froze up. The labor to replace it would be $650 and that the part was still under warranty. There was nothing that they could do for me until the part comes in for replacement. The repairman said that he had to collect a trip fee of $100. Dealing with my own frustration I asked him $100.00... for what? At this point I no longer trusted Air West and it was worth it to me to contact another company for a second opinion. read more

My fiancee and I just moved into our new home a couple of months ago and one of the things I was happy about was that the central AC was only a couple of years old and was a well established brand. The home inspector passed it with flying colors. I get home from a long day at work and my Fiancee tells me that the AC seems to be running fine but it isn't blowing cold air, or any air through the vents. It's the end of the month and bills are due but you cannot live in Florida without air conditioning. So, I go online and look for a company with a high rating and tons of reviews, as most of us would. Air West seems to be a top contender and, when I call, they tell me they can have a technician out within an hour or so and he will call me when he is on his way. Now Air West advertises either a free service call with repair, or a discount tune up for around $70. The rep on the phone said that the tech would happily apply whatever one was appropriate. About 45 minutes later, they technician shows up without calling first. Not a big deal, but it was kinda like the tip of the iceburg. Now bear in mind, the technician is reasonably friendly throughout but that is no excuse for what followed. He did a cursory inspections and said that everything seemed to be working fine, electrical, pressure, coolant, etc. He decides to check the filters. As I said, we had just moved in recently and I will freely admit, we hadn't gotten around to changing them yet. They are metal filters and were a bit dirty but not terrible. He hosed them off and reinstalled them and proclaimed the problem solved saying, "there, that's cool air coming through now!" Which was strange because there was no noticeable air flow at all. After futzing around for a bit he then says, "Well, let me check the condenser coil!" He tells us it's filthy and it will cost $125 plus the $85 service call to clean it. I ask about the specials and he tells me that none of them apply as the free service call is only if he does an actual repair, and not just clean something and the $70 tune up doesn't apply because cleaning the coils isn't a part of that service. I explain that I can't afford that price right this second as I don't get paid until tomorrow. He then says, "Well, let me see if I can brush some of the mess away". This still doesn't solve the problem and he finally says that maybe something has knocked some duct work loose under the house. Now, I'm a bit confused and my fiancee asks him if he could check, being an AC repair guy and he tells us, "I don't go under houses or mess with ducts, you have to call somebody that does that sort of thing". Apparently I was mistaken to call the highly rated, "Air West Air Conditioning" to fix my problem. So, in the end, I got charged $85 dollars for absolutely nothing. What makes this all the more damning for Air West is that a family friend who is NOT an AC repair technician but is a bit of a handyman came over about an hour after Air West had left. He pulled one small piece of siding off next to the unit, stuck his upper body into the opening and fixed the problem in under 5 minutes. Something had gotten under the house and knocked the duct loose and it hadn't been attached properly to begin with. He will be back tomorrow with the stuff to properly reattach the duct. I just want to know what I paid Air West $85 for? read more

Airwest is less than competent to service your unit. Mine went out on a Friday, it is only 90 degrees and 80% humidity. Tech said compressor was shot and needed a new one $2200. Oh, can't do anything until maybe Tuesday. See ya. I called Hudson Air who not only fixed my unit but brought a portable unit to use just in case it went out again. FYI I bought a new ac that Monday as mine was really old. Airwest called me Wednesday asking about my unit. REALLY!!! ALSO, last year they sent me a bill THAT BELONGED TO SOMEONE ELSE WITH MY NAME ON IT. They acted like no big deal. Should have known better. I'd give them a zero. If you want a fair, honest company call Brian at Hudson Air. **after 3 estimates, he came in $1000 cheaper than other companies** read more

The sent a technician who knew his stuff who assessed the problem which was partially covered by warranty, got the part within 2 days and came back and installed the part and got my system up and running. I've used them before and will again. read more

Very lazy tech! Uninterested in finding the problem was so worried to leave and not help that he left his equipment behind and had to come back! The unit was frozen and he could not fix immediately but he quoted me other misinformation that would have been extremely costly for me. Business decided that the charge to come out and tell me what I already knew was to stand and would not offer even a partial refund. I had another tech out from a different company two hours later and problem is fixed in 40 minutes. Yes the unit was thawed by then but the first tech from Air West had no interest in coming back that day even though it was only 2:30 pm. Air west tech told me my Freon pressure was down 190 pounds which was incorrect because it was measuring it while the unit was still frozen. After thawing the new company only filled it with 25 pounds. Quite an excessive difference! read more

Thank you Air West. I called them for a 2nd opinion after my A/C company for many years said my rental house A/C compressor was shot and needed a whole new system. The Tenants were not happy. I called Air West. They got the system up and running in an hour, for less than $200. I then had them check another rental house. It was not cooling properly, again in less than an hour, they got it purring like a kitten. Then I just called them when my house A/C stopped blowing completely. They verified it was the blower, ordered a blower, and first thing next morning, in less than an hour new Blower motor installed. Everything checked. It runs beautifully. Honest. Professional. I was a costumer several years ago and overnight my reverse cycle air quit on a different unit, on the coldest night so far this winter. I called just after they opened at 7:30AM and they reworked their schedule to service me before 9AM. The service technician arrived well before the hour and was able to diagnose an electrical circuit board problem and they had the part for my 10 year old unit at the shop. With a quick trip to is shop he promptly returned and had me up and running. Technicians who can handle the complex new systems are what make for good repair providers. read more

Horrible. The first repair guy said I need $600 of Freon visit cost me $47. Second guy came telling me his health problems. Then told me I needed a coil for 1500 or 1600. This visit was $125. I then called harbor air who came over within one hour. He put in Freon to keep my house cool until installation of a new unit in a week. No charge for the visit or Freon . I was not pleased with air west at all!!! read more

We would highly recommend that you call Air West. We called regarding a problem with our air conditioning and Air West responded the very next morning. After determining that we needed to replace our heat pump they worked with us to fit us quickly into their schedule. Each person we dealt with from the in home technician, back office personnel to the installation crew were prompt, professional and courteous. This company was the most unprofessional experience we have ever had. We had the unit installed in July and they have been here 8 times . Two times they showed up unannounced. We had days with out AC. Unreliable techs and employees. One of the repair techs helped himself in our garage to our filter leaving trash on ground and changed our filter that was in there for 3 weeks and it's good for 2 months without asking . Other tech drops the metal cover on wood floor and chips our new hardwood floor and doesn't even say anything. Unit failed inspection . It was installed unsafe . It's been a nightmare. And they act like they couldn't care less when we contact them with our concerns. Make sure you spend your money on the right place . This was a huge mistake . There is lots of professional businesses out there. This is not one. We will be contacting the BBB as well . read more

I can't be more grateful for what Air West AC & Heating did for my home. They were so responsive, efficient and neat. My home was built in 1976 and it's never been as good as it is now with this new system and ductwork, even after having had a new one from another AC installer back in 2008. One of my bedrooms, basically used as a storage room basically had always been a "hotter" room, now is equally cool along with the rest of my place. Finally I can use this room year round, and I need to at this point of my life! Another AC person had told me years ago that maybe I'll just always have a "warm" room because of its position away from the air handler, but Air West took care of it and now it's perfect for the first time in all the years I've been here! I had a bit of a musty smell in my place (gunk in the ducts) and now it's perfect, there's no humidity and the compressor is quieter compared to my previous one which makes being on the porch much nicer. I'm thrilled with the company and the professionalism and extraordinary timely help from Dave when I called. It's so nice to know there are still companies out there who really take care of you. I'm not a frequent reviewer, but wanted to share my parents experience. They lost heat and were told by AirWest they needed a $2000 new compressor for their air conditioning system/heat pump. (I'm thinking, OK, 10 years, replacement sounds reasonable). No other problem discussed, and they bought the new compressor and had it installed by AirWest. Then, no heat again soon after. The serviceman was called, and he gave them a 10 minute spiel about how the service call would cost them more if he needed to go into their attic, and that if they were "lucky" the leak would be outside. He finally checked outside, and found the new compressor had leaked out the Freon, so then fixed the problem (that the prior installer had created). He had been so upsetting to my 90+ years old folks that they called the manager the next day to complain on the service and that they were not getting a lot of air in their bedroom. Instead of good customer service (with an expected "we'll come right out and check that for your free of charge", the manager then told them "it's all how you want to spend your money, that the air conditioner was old, etc". At the time the compressor needed replacing, no one even mentioned there might be issues with the age of the system or offered options - the only diagnosed a compressor issue. I heard that one of the managers had left this service recently - I'm recommending my folks not use them again. read more

The people who installed my A/C unit didn't do a good job and as it was a new A/C unit I called the manufacturer who referred Air West to me. I called them, they came out right away and said that there was something minor with it and they could fix it. This something minor in the end cost me $950 and then they said they would want $650 more to do more. Parts were covered under my warranty but labor wasn't and the Freon either.They replaced the Freon which I found out later didn't need to be replaced (that alone was $450) and when they said $650 more I said NO WAY and kicked the technician out. I called Air West first to complain but that was like water off of a duck's back, but I spoke with a friend who recommended their A/C man, and he said all it needed was an adjustment and my bill was $75.00. Has worked fine every since. When I called the A/C manufacturer to complain they said they didn't recommend them. Because it's been so hot I had the A/C unit checked and that's when they said there was too much Freon in it. They asked me who had done it I said Air West, and they said well it would be ok for awhile but too much Freon can damage the condenser. I would NEVER use them again. I am retired on a fixed income and $950 to me is like $1000s to anyone else. Air West, never again! read more
