He bought tickets and we went downstairs to the platform for the next train. Make sure to validate before boarding since I think that needs to be done. If not, then disregard this. T1 is very convenient for public transpo as the FEX took us straight to where our hotel was at Potsdamer Platz. Departing via Ryanair was not as convenient. You get dropped off at T1 and then have to walk to T2. The outside way has stairs, not escalators, so if you cannot carry your bags, do not go the outside way. Distance wise, it is shorter tho. For our flight, our gate had absolutely nothing but a few vending machines. So if you fly Ryanair, make sure buy anything you need before going to this part of the terminal. T1 was fine. T2 was bare bones where we were. Overall, it serves it's purpose as an airport. REVIEW #4089

We found Customs was also straightforward and we were in & out in less than 30 minutes. The major positive is the U-Bahn station into Hauptbahnhof, Potsdamer Platz or Südkreuz was right outside, along with Express Buses, Taxis and Ubers. I've read all the negative stories about the previous airports and what went wrong here when it first opened. We didn't have any bad experiences. Everything was Easy Peasy

The BER airport looks really cool. I love that they have a subway right there that can get you…read morestraight into downtown Berlin. The custom agents I needed to talk to were really nice. Everything was fantastic until I had to leave Germany. The signs on the road telling you how to get to the rental car drop off are terrible. They basically got us halfway and then stopped putting signs up to tell us to keep going. They really should fix that. I was surprised that one of my bags was considered large so they made me walk it all the way over to the other side of the airport to drop it off. For a new airport that's strange. Last, I hate restrooms that have a fabric towel that you have to pull on. It always feels really gross to dry off your hands.

Hate this airport! One of the all time worst!…read more Not only the design and efficiency of this airport is piss poor... aka separated small non connected blocks of terminals. There is no where to sit as planes and passenger ratio is 5x over seats available. People just lounging on the floor squeezed in like homeless people sprawled on a bust metropolis. Where is the German engineering so widely boasted? Not here a pure hack without any design. Compare this airport to Seoul and you'll get the dichotomy. One us forced to pay airport food prices for garbage just to get a seat. Arriving 2 hours early for international your suffer and pay the price with choice. Consider the facilities of the crammed passenger for bathroom alone. But the restaurant inside is packed with people looking for a decent place to hangout before their flight. I haven't even started on the air circulation... I think it's cooler outside than inside. No wonder I see people hangout out in the beer Garten restaurant and not wanting to go into this cramped space. Feeling crawling out of my claustrophobic feeling with so many people per sq meter.
