When our food arrived, we both realized we may have underestimated the portion sizes. These burgers were huge! They were packed with flavor, cooked well, and loaded with toppings. Even with healthy appetites, we could only finish about half of our meals and ended up taking the rest with us for later. As we were enjoying our food, we noticed an eerie fog bank slowly rolling across the lake. It created a unique and almost surreal backdrop that made the evening even more memorable. Between the beautiful scenery, perfect weather, excellent service, and delicious food, it turned into one of those unexpected dining experiences that sticks with you. Pickin' Porch forces a mandatory 10% "staff tip" on all orders. Because you stand in line and pay at a counter before you are even tended to, they are essentially demanding a tip before providing any service. Sometimes you stand in line for longer than it takes to receive the food you're paying a 10% premium on. If a business needs to cover higher staff costs, they should just raise menu prices. Forcing a surprise surcharge at the register is a cheap tactic. Furthermore, didn't ask, but suspect one is likely required to pay this fee even if you're just getting food to-go. For a restaurant located inside a craft mall, playing these corporate "gotcha" fee games feels completely out of place in this wonderful spiritual community Branson has always been. Branson is a city built on genuine kindness... However, Pickin Porch Grill's compulsory 10% tipping fee billing practice is the exact opposite of the nature of Branson. Come for the food, but be prepared for a frustrating mandatory fee at the register.
