The farmhouse has been built up over the centuries, and the owners Niall and Gillian Ennis manage the entire operation. Niall's skills in the kitchen are superb, I would highly recommend a dinner date or a simple stay-cation here. Ireland's beautiful green is due to the misty, rainy weather, so do take care and watch your step on external stairs or paths that sometimes become slick and mossy. Our 2-bedroom suite was accessible from just outside the main building - it would be perfect for a small family. Don't leave without having a sip of the famous Irish Gin and tonic made with The Pig's Elbow gin and tonic, delicious!

It's also very convenient for driving out the the Cliffs of Moher or the surrounding areas.

We were absolutely delighted with our room. They were happy to direct us to local areas. There is a booklet in the room with plenty of information. Breakfast the next day was a treat. Shane is a head chef at a local restaurant and we were fortunate enough to have the experience of his delicious breakfast. They source local products. The eggs are from a house a few doors down. Meat is a local butcher, etc. Others staying in the B&B were delightful and we were able to share tips. However, Shane and Sinéad were amazing with their information on the area. It very much has a bed and breakfast feel, to the point I'm surprised that's not how they bill themselves. The price absolutely can't be beat, either - friendly, personal service that you would expect from an establishment two or three times as expensive. We arrived a bit late in the evening and were regardless greeted warmly. The rooms are cozily decorated with wood paneling. Plenty of space for your wardrobe, should you be taking an extended stay. The view out over the little creek out back was a treat to wake up to as well. It's a very calm, bucolic scene. I highly recommend paying for breakfast in your reservation as well. It's very well priced. They do ask what time you plan to take your breakfast, so it will be freshly prepared. I found that having the expectation of being at breakfast helped motivate me to get my day started early, too. Ennis is also well positioned for exploring the Burren. We did a lovely loop setting out toward Corofin, Kilfenora, the Cliffs of Moher, and back. No rush and back before it was late, with plenty of time to rest and explore more the next day. Ardilaun Guesthouse is heartily recommended. I can't think of a bad thing to say about it, and I'm not inclined to try.

We got an early start every morning, and Mike was sure to have breakfast ready and waiting for us. Everything was delicious and filling! The building itself is absolutely charming and in top rate condition. It is hard to imagine a finer place can be found in all of Ireland. And the weather! Mike went so far as to order four consecutive days of sunny weather for us, which is almost unheard of in these parts. If you want a great base for exploring the Limerick-Killarney area, Lurriga Lodge is the place to stay! My only regret is being limited to giving only five stars.

The only down side is that there is no coffee or tea in the room, which we found to be ubiquitous elsewhere.
