No campfires allowed due to county fire ban (not the park's issue but would have been nice to know). Bathhouse was mixed. Door code didn't work half of the time. A small hike from the campground, toilet/sink areas were clean, shower floors were dirty and only one had hot water. Bring your shower shoes, towels, soap and shampoo. Quiet neighbors, very convenient to Walmart and downtown Salida. Highly recommend bringing a bicycle to get around as parking downtown was challenging at times.

Despite the somewhat dilapidated appearance of the parking lot and exterior of the building, this welcome center is quite welcoming in the side. It seemed as if every square foot was packed with some thing interesting to look at for all ages. The welcome center is dwarfed on one side by a massive mining operation which was the source of huge mechanical crashing sounds while we were visiting. This made the mining related exhibit inside the welcome center all the more interesting. The building is mostly one very large two-story room with enormous glass windows lining one side. Beautiful views are visible overlooking the town of Cripple Creek in the surrounding area. The second floor includes a balcony which overlooks the first and enhances and expands the view through the windows. On this floor was a two-story interactive exhibit showing the depth of the mines. Even if all you need is a clean bathroom, I highly recommend stopping here. I doubt you will be able to resist spending some time inside looking through exhibit some learning about this area.

Chief Operating Officer, Ken Wartell, came to our site in Aspen over a month ahead of the event, to look at the property and make sure everything would go smoothly. Whenever I would email him questions, he would email me back right away. I can't imagine finding a better service to handle event parking! The castle was larger and taller than I expected, and we spent hours wandering around it taking photos (there were some areas like the tallest tower, we were not brave enough to quest). They had a nice gift store on location where I got to meet Jellybean the small dog, and they also have portable toilets on site which were well maintained. After visiting the area and even living in Colorado in the past, we had never thought about visiting Bishops Castle and now regret we did not do it earlier. Definitely, a must see landmark in Colorado and they do take donations.

My family and I opted to take the gondola from the office / main dining hall across the gorge and then zipline back. The line seems to move slow, but it's mainly for the gondolas with the clear floors. The other line moves a lot faster. Because we were doing the zipline back, we didn't feel the need to do the gondola with the clear floor. The views are majestic! It really makes you feel small and awestruck. The zipline was super fun and an awesome experience. I feel like it's little pricey, but the experience was still breathtaking! Plus, you'll the option to purchase your zipline photos and videos. The bridge itself is very cool. Nicknamed "America's bridge," it has the flags of all the states posted up throughout the bridge so it's fun to see people find their home states and take pics with the flags. There's also a playground area for kids and a theatre showroom. The BBQ restaurant by the theatre seemed delicious, at least it was busy when I walked by. The main dining hall has some decent standard options. They also have beer and some cocktails available for purchase, which is a plus for such a family friendly park. The circulation, reference and children's desk staff are always phenomenal. This branch is beautifully appointed and conveniently located in town. What sets it apart, though, is the wealth of additional activities and services available to all patrons. Our kids really love the summer reading program, movie nights and guest author/lecturers. The teen room is a fantastic place for them to relax and read, or do some gaming with friends. My youngest also loves the children's area, with cozy seating and whimsical features like the tepee to hang out with a good book. The Lego room is a blast, and allows them to be creative in a safe space with their friends. The online resources are amazing, as well. We've recently discovered Rocket Languages, a free online foreign language primer provided by the library district- it's amazing. It cannot be overstated how wonderful it is to have such a fantastic library in our town- we appreciate everything they do and look forward to each new adventure.

They have an excellent selection of books, some for sale downstairs, the atmosphere is geared toward family/kids, and everything about this library is clean and well-organized.
