Breaded chicken with roasted peppers, mozzarella and balsamic

Ok, so we have lived in Wilmington for years and have gone to AJ's here and there and have used their catering services but today we watched Phantom and it sparked our want for some AJ's! Everything we ordered was delicious! And we have leftovers for another meal! The subs were delicious and his bread is soooo good! When I was picking up my families food, the gentleman in front of me made a comment that he watched phantom this morning himself and that is why he was there! Phantom isn't joking when voting AJ's for the trip worth driving to!

I always try to make an effort to sample what the locals eat. This small place is located in a working-class neighborhood. I found it on the web and decided to give it a try. I ordered Ziti with meatballs. The sauce was thick with gusto, as one expects from slow-cooking totato sauce. It's a bit on the salty side (to me), perhaps it's something a tired body needs after a long day of toiling. I observed that most of the patrons are the take-out kind. If one needs a quick dinner after a long day at work, this is definitely a good place to stop by. In that regard it deserves 4 *. The portion is generous and I felt satisfied after devouring the pasta and meatballs.

BBQ chicken wheat wrap ...less a few bites

Had seen a AJ's on Phantom Gourmet and heard locally it was fantastic so I was in the area and decided to phone in a BBQ chicken in a wheat wrap. When I arrived a very lovely young lady at the counter greeted me and my wrap was already ready. Services is extremely friendly and efficient, excellent value ($8.99 for the wrap). The wrap was thin (which I prefer) but held everything nicely, chicken was SO tender & perfectly cooked not to mention generous, perfect amount of sauce, shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes. The bonus - the slices of bacon, which I've never had in a bbq chicken wrap. Can't wait to return again to try their pizzas and calzones!

Made reservations online and that all went smoothly. We were sat and then our disaster started. Our waitress was never to be seen. It took her forever to get to us, serve us and bring our food. I had to ask other servers for refills and issues with our food. Our appetizer of buffalo chicken dip came out with really bad chips. They tasted very stale and been sitting out for awhile. We ate it anyways. Our food eventually came by a food runner and we had serveral mess ups. My mother received the wrong side (ordered parm fries and received cold white rice). The food runner fixed it and was fine. My food was very cold, it took forever for someone to come after searching for our waitress. She went and warmed up my food in the microwave and brought it back. My friends meal was good, the sweet potato fries were delicious. By the time we finished eating we were waiting for boxes and our server forever. Our simple dinner was about 2 hours because she was so un attentive. We still have no idea where she was, we can see the kitchen and the floor but nothing. This was a horrible experience and poor establishment. I'd recommend other places.

Food was barely warm so hard to really tell quality. Wasn't impressed. I've eaten at a different area Tavern before and found the food good so I want to try and be fair.

The quality of service, food, drinks, atmosphere were all very good. Turnover here is also very good, as there was no wait for an almost-full restaurant at 7pm on a Friday evening. Drinks were flavorful, but strength seemed a bit inconsistent. My Patriot's Pour, a bourbon drink, seemed a wee bit stronger both in flavor and perceived alcohol than the martinis we were served. The ice cube with the restaurant's name in it was a nice touch. Our dinners all came out at the same time and were, as mentioned, enjoyable. I did notice that the counter in front of the kitchen, where dishes are placed waiting for pickup, seemed to have more plates on it than the could be under the heat lamps. Hopefully folks' dinners weren't inconsistent in temperature. My Thai salmon was done the way I like it, firm and crispy. Parking outside is ample as well, there were several spaces free near the entrance at any time. They do a good job all-around here.

The table I sat at may have been cleaned, I don't know, but it certainly didn't look it. Maybe the tables are just old, I don't know, but it sort of made me loose my appetite. It was literally lumpy and had a thick, almost jello like texture. Disgusting.
