We love the Albion Canteen. It's like a gem that we've only just discovered. The food is very good…read morewith a nice range of counter food and a good cooked menu with reasonable prices. The service is excellent and the layout of the cafe is very comfortable, with indoor and outdoor seating and fat cushions on the bench seat that runs the full length of the front room beneath the windows. I like that they offer free range eggs, and thick slices of Japanese-style toast.

The Albion Canteen successfully adds another to Napier's repertoire. The interior design and menu layout is clean, fresh, and modern although it took me a little while to get my head around the salads/proteins options and pricing. Once we did figure it out, I had the pleasure of having pork belly for brunch with 3 salads and my partner had an exceptional attempt at eggs benedict (the hollandaise was velvety with a touch of lemon). They use premium products and Hawkes Bay's finest local produce but the pricing isn't put at a premium. The service is OK as is the coffee; I ordered a tall macchiato which was quite burnt. They were receptive to make me another one but unfortunately it was more of the same so I have taken away one star. Can't wait to go again!

Very short and impatient when taking your order (no one else in line). We love our coffee and look forward to our coffee shops in the morning and in a pinch this establishment will do but I suggest you spend money and time where ALL people are treated KINDLY. It was a very disappointing customer experience at Raffles St Cafe but I'm happy to say this has been the only establishment in our 17 day visit to the North Island that presented themselves in such a negative ugly way.

My first visit to venerable Napier CBD cafe, "Raffles Street" yesterday…read more So very slow serving x2 de caffeinated Americanos and a slice of sweet stuff for the wife = loss of star, we talkin 20 mins, after payment / order, though we were enjoying a quiet chat in the courtyard on a typical sunny warm mid morning that's a tad too long to wait. Twas a well prepared tasty beverage and her 'slice', baked on premises was VERY good. Raffles street cafe is smack dab middle of legal offices, government buildings, professional offices just south of Art Deco quarter, NAPIER, in the fine wine region of Hawkes Bay. Tidy cafe. Clean loos. Staff pleasant enough. Good selection of sweet and savory snacks, most FRESHLY made in house. Would return and give a second chance on the service front. Recommended. 4 stars on the yelpmeter

Raffles Street Cafe - The interior takes you back to the 1930s. Napier was ruined in a 1931 earthquake and rebuilt. So it has an art-deco look
