I've been going to Akamai since they started as a small drive through in the Home Depot parking lot. They're as good now as they were then. Their coffee is smooth and strong and the service is friendly. Their featured latte (Road to Hana with mocha & mac nut) was a winner. Love supporting independently opened businesses!

I came here just before the new Year and the Christmas decorations were still up and look so beautiful and festive. I tried the latte and the coffee roast is delicious. The space is so inviting and cozy. The service is great. There is a pastry case and the banana bread is from a local provider. We walked here. Please come and create your own adventure.

Hands down the best coffee I had in Maui! The beans are truly something else, rich, smooth, and full of flavor. You can tell they put real care into what they serve, and it shows in every sip. We ordered two lattes, one with brown sugar and one with vanilla, and both were amazing. The flavors were balanced, not overly sweet, and complemented the quality of the espresso perfectly. We also shared a cheese danish that my husband absolutely loved. He said it was one of the best he has ever had, and I have to agree -- buttery, flaky, and so fresh. The shop itself has such a fun, cozy vibe. There's even a swing inside, which adds such a unique and playful touch. It's the kind of place you actually want to hang out in, not just grab a coffee and go. Service was excellent. The barista was super friendly and even made the cutest latte art, which totally made my day. I ordered a 12 oz and loved that it came in a mug, while my husband got a 16 oz to-go. My only wish is that they would offer mugs for the larger sizes too. It would be a nice way to cut down on paper and plastic and make the experience even better. Overall, Akamai Coffee is a gem. Between the amazing drinks, delicious pastries, welcoming atmosphere, and thoughtful service, it's the kind of place you'll want to visit again and again. If you're in Maui, definitely make time to stop by. You won't regret it!

We had two great visits at Akamai Coffee when we were staying in Kihei last month. The family-owned coffee shop (there are three locations in Maui) serves coffee grown on Maui and roasted by Akamai. The Kihei location is spacious with ample seating in a warm, comfortable environment. On our first visit, I had the Hawaiian Honeybee latte with espresso, honey, coconut, vanilla, and milk (oat for me). This was such a terrific drink and the perfect way to start the day. When we were there the first time, I knew we had to come back because I saw their fall seasonal menu had some good-looking choices. On our second visit, I did have the Autumn Spice latte with cardamom, orang, cinnamon, espresso, and milk--it was like a warm hug. I could have that drink every day. Service was terrific both times. There is a drive-thru here and they open at 6am, which is perfect for us early risers. If you want a bite, they offer pastries, toasts, bagels, wraps, and sandwiches. Definitely a five-star experience!

First time I went inside and happily surprised. Lots of nice seating options to choose from indoors or outdoors to enjoy your coffee and pastries. Service was friendly. Food menu is limited to pastries and a couple breakfast croissants. If you're looking for a light breakfast or just have some coffee check out this cute little cafe in Kihei.

I had been to this coffee shop 3 times - pretty consistent and amazing tasting coffee compared to other coffee in and around in Kihei. The staff is super nice and accommodating Very nice ambience and so is the music with tons of sunlight (if you love it)

We enjoyed visiting onsite (8/31/25). They also have a drive through (9/1/25). Decent seating availability. Assorted merch, including serious coffee gear for pour overs & aeropress, and coffee roasts for purchase. There's enticing pastries and a huge slew of well crafted beverage items. I had a 20 oz iced mocha with quad shots. Amazing! The Homie had a 20 oz Hawaiian Honeybee with quad shots plus coconut, vanilla, and honey. Same orders on both visits. Welcoming and efficient service. Nice modern cafe vibe. Definitely recommended while in Kihei!

It's a beautiful shop. So beautiful that I feared it would be all style and no substance. But they make a really good cup of coffee here! Liked it so much I went back a 2nd time during my vacation. The website says they have all Hawaiian coffee, but on my visits they had Mexican and Central American beans on offer. They were delicious regardless of origin. The specialty espresso drinks were good too. Loved that they had ceramic mugs for drinks on site.

Akamai Coffee is a cute coffee shop recommended for its good coffee. There is a parking lot in the back and a drive-thru. Came here on a Sunday morning and it wasn't too busy. We are greeted by a staff member upon entering. It is light and bright inside with lots of plants and a merchandise area. There is a decent amount of seating and it seems like a good place to work or study. I ordered the Hawaiian Honeybee and substituted coconut milk as a dairy-frre alternative. The drink came quickly and tasted good. The coffee itself was seemed high quality. However, the texture was a bit off. Not sure if it was because of the coconut milk. Overall, giving Akamai Coffee a 4/5. Service, ambiance, and coffee are good. Would like to come back to try other drinks as well as their seasonal drinks.

Never change, Akamai! I have high coffee standards, and this is probably my favorite coffee shop on the planet. The coffee is always perfect, not too sweet, the service is always exceptional, and it's a great place to sit and just...be. One of our family's most-looked-forward-to vacation stops, for sure.

Made a specific detour for this coffee place on our road trip. The coffee by itself with just milk is phenomenal with great flavor but not too strong. The surfer girl includes macadamia nut syrup which was good but a little too nutty in my opinion. The interior is very cute with a limited amount of seating. The baristas are always engaging and fun to talk to as well. Love this spot!

I got the bread with macadamia nuts because i love nuts and they drive me nuts - nuts were fresh enough, which added the crunchy texture to my soft moist bread - could be more moist but it was already satisfactory - i like how they sell smaller pieces rather than a whole loaf but also it was more pricey - not as fresh and as good as aunty sandy's but decent! rating: 3/5 - since this place focuses on cinnamon roll, the rating is heavily weighted towards the cinnamon, which did not meet the minimum expectations of what a basic cinnamon roll should be - if this place was called the banana bread place, id give it a 4/5 - quick service nothing much to note - very small store; grab and go vibes with some seats outside IG: @nom.noms.only

The Honey Cinnamon was tasty too, though the cinnamon was a bit overpowering and took over most of the drink's flavor.
