Fabulous place!! Great food, waitstaff, ambiance and value!!! A win-win for everyone!

In town to attend a ceremony for my husband's son and we decided to have sushi. My thought was that we are in the middle of the country and sushi is probably a novelty here instead of a destination. All I wanted to know was what was in fresh, what does Sensei recommend, do you have black cod? In between coughing on us, the server indicated that she "thinks they may get fish in on Wednesday" and she had "no idea if they have cod". Weird. Nonetheless the locals knew what to order and it turned out to be pretty good. They make a decent dirty martini though. Good enough to deal with awful stepchildren so there's that. read more

I was in the Clarksville area and needed a place to eat dinner. At 8:45, most restaurants were closing up at 9 PM but Akita was open until 9:30. The service was great although last call was fast approaching as I was ordering. I eat a lot but could have ordered another roll after the fact. I ended up ordering a salmon avocado roll, spicy tuna roll, and tonkotsu ramen. The salmon avocado sushi roll was great. Huge chunks of avocado and sushi with a nice ratio of rice. The spicy tuna's flavor was great, but I didn't like how the tuna was minced and mixed with the spicy sauce. The tonkotsu ramen was excellent! Large slices of pork, ample portions of ingredients in a rich, savory broth that wasn't too salty. Next time I'd love to try one of their specialty rolls and more ramen. I'd definitely recommend this place. read more

My wife was in the mood for steak, the other day. Remembering that though we had been sad that they eliminated the Izakaya, but replaced it with Hibachi, I suggested that she try that to satisfy her steak craving. This was a take-out order. So, in addition to Tuna Tartar and Tropical Lemon Roll, which we have enjoyed before, my wife had the Hibachi Steak. The ticket says the steak should be "Medium", but there was no pink. Even so, the steak was super tender and flavorful. We both really enjoyed it. We paid an extra dollar to upgrade to Fried Rice, which was a nice upgrade. The vegetables with the steak were cooked perfectly. I had the Sapporo Miso Ramen (again). Feeling a bit under-the-weather, I did not have it spicy. So, it was just delicious. The grilled pork is great and the jammy egg is perfect. As I probably mentioned before, I have had several different Ramen here, and never one that wasn't delicious. read more

We were driving down Madison St and noticed the OPEN sign was on at Akita so we did a u-turn and headed back that way! We had NO idea it was their first day open, as we live in Nashville. We were impressed with no major glitches for it being their first day open! We ordered the spicy tuna roll, Tokyo Tonkotsu Ramen, and the Sapporo Miso Ramen. It was all very good! Solid Spot for Sushi & Small Plates in Clarksville Tried Akita for the first time and overall, it was a really enjoyable experience--definitely one of the better options for sushi and small plates in Clarksville. We started with the buns, which were soft and flavorful--nicely done, with a good balance of sweet and savory. The gyoza were also a highlight--crispy on the bottom, tender inside, and not overly greasy, which I appreciated. The sashimi was fresh and clean-tasting--surprisingly good for the area. It's not a high-end sushi bar, but for Clarksville, it exceeded expectations in terms of quality and presentation. Service was friendly and fairly prompt, and the space had a relaxed, casual vibe. A solid choice if you're craving Japanese food without heading to Nashville. I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu. Absolutely amazing I can't recommend this place enough! The rolls area amazing I personally tried the wagyu samurai roll and the tropical lemon roll the seared tuna as well as a ramen and gyoza nothing was bad and the price for value is so worth especially for the TORO the fatty tuna belly. The service was absolutely top notch and restaurant was clean and friendly for kids. The cocktails are good as well will be back definitely worth a family dinner or a date night. read more

Brought my girlriend from California here 8 months ago. It was awesome!! Brought her again yesterday looking forward to some more great sushi. This place is NOT awesome anymore. Tempura shrimp literally dripped grease and there wasn't any shrimp in it I could find. The fish was all low grade and sliced thin as a nickle. Ordered some extra sashimi including fatty tuna, we were brought ONE nickel thin piece!! I had to cut it in half so we could each have some. I'll never step foot in there again. Cutely decorated place. The hostess was very friendly and waiter was helpful. It's the first time I've been here so I didn't really know what I was in the mood for. The ramen bowls sounded tasty so I ordered the Tokyo Tonkotsu Ramen. I opted not to get the fish cake or half marinated egg. It was a very pretty presentation and the broth and ramen were very good. I was not a big fan of the textures of the bamboo shoots, kikurage, nori and stir-fried bean sprout. I will go back but will just order a different dish. read more

Just moved to Clarksville and wanted to try this restaurant on a cooler summer day. The inside is well decorated, clean, and modern. Service was great! I have never left a review like this before, but I feel compelled to share a recent experience at Akita in Clarksville, TN. While the wait staff were absolutely amazing, attentive, friendly, and professional; The behavior of the manager/owner toward her employees was absolutely unacceptable and distressing to witness. This was not my first time witnessing the way she spoke to her staff, I'm just sorry it took me so long to say something. What I observed: - A staff member at the bar was spoken to in a belittling and demeaning manner, in front of me. -I was wearing headphones so she probably thought I couldn't hear her. - The tone was sharp and degrading, rather than supportive or constructive. - There was no visible attempt to acknowledge the staffer's hard work or offer help, guidance, or solutions in the moment. - The Owner/Manger standing around doing absolutely nothing except berating her staff. Impact: - This type of management style creates a tense environment for the team and can undermine morale and service quality. - It left me uncomfortable, angry, and disgusted. It detracting from what should have been an enjoyable dining experience. On the bright side: - The wait staff behind the front line clearly cares about their guests and their craft, and their professionalism did not go unnoticed. A note to that manager in pink: The way you spoke to that poor girl was absolutely disgusting! No one deserves to be spoken to like that. You're probably the reason you can't keep staffed restaurant. I have been coming to the restaurant since day one. From here on out, the second I see your face, I'm walking away. Suggestions for others planning to visit: - If you value supportive leadership and a positive team dynamic, you may want to observe how management interacts with staff during your visit. I hope the management will reflect on this feedback and consider more constructive, respectful ways to guide their team. The staff deserve to be treated with dignity, and guests deserve a consistently positive experience. read more

Quickly seated and our server was great. Japanese decor was spot on. Amazing sushi/sashimi. It may be my #1 spot. Very fresh and artful presentation! The Wagyu beef nigiri was melt in your mouth delicious. They were not serving cocktails, only beer and sake. Not sure why. We ended the night with the mango crepe cake. Very delicate and light. This place has everything, from the environment, setting, kind service and fresh food!! One thing I always appreciate is very fresh sushi and their sushi is some of the best I've had in a long time. I loved the ramen! The picture I posted is before I mixed in the spice, so don't be deterred by it not being red like the photo on the menu. I did think it was going to be a lot spicier but the level was about a 2 for me. You can always ask for more or less spice. My husband LOVED his Udon and so did I. The only thing I wasn't a big fan of was the oyster skewer but it's just a texture thing for me. The platter is worth trying and is packed with flavor. We took home carryout for our first visit to Akita. The order was completely correct (a rarity these days LOL) and everything was packed expertly. They take pride in their take out process. The food was excellent. Chicken skewers were among the tastiest we have had. Sushi rolls were spot-on and delicious. The only item that needs upgrade is the ramen. The ingredients were great but the broth was a little on the bland side. I really appreciated that they separated the ramen broth and noodles in the take-out bowl, genius! Today's review I made during my conquest to try another new ramen place to see how they compare to my still favorite ramen at Kohanas. I went to Akita Izakaya. I was more excited when I saw Wagyu menu items. So I had the Wagyu sushi and tried the pork belly yakitori. My mom had the Tonkotsu ramen which I also tried some of hers. Overall the ramen was pretty good (still feel like Kohana has the best ramen in all of Clarksville.) The Wagyu sushi was the highlight item for me. The sear was really good on the meat. If you don't like raw sushi try meat sushi. Of course it's pricey 22 dollars but it's Wagyu so I had to try it. (not sure if American Wagyu or American) The pork belly yakitori wasn't bad, pretty good when dipped in the chilli pepper powder. The decoration was really fancy and very nice also. I'd return for some meat sushi. Though, like Kyoto ramen it seems like a smaller limited. I assume being labeled as an Izakaya (bar) they are probably working on getting a liquor license one day. read more

The service was very disappointing. It took the waitress 20 minutes to take our order despite there being only three tables occupied and five waitstaff available. They seemed more interested in chatting than attending to customers. People who arrived after us were served first and even received water, while we were completely overlooked. The service was amazing and the atmosphere was great. But the food itself was ..lacking? It wasn't horrible by any means but the quality was not really worth the price. I have been to just about every Ramen place in Clarksville and I will say this is maybe the 4th best? Kohanna is still number #1 even if you get a bad server there at least the food is top notch and at a reasonable price. Now that's not to say the place is not going to get better. It's still a chain after all and hopes shouldn't be too high either way. But it does have appeal for the Anime Gen Z crowd and my kids enjoyed watching Crunchyroll while eating their Ramen lol read more

I think he might have been talking about the manager who is a fabulous person. Ever since she has taken over the service is impeccable. We have been going to Akita since they have opened. It is a world of difference today. Hopefully this Ezekiel will not be returning to the restaurant as he made everyone around him unconfortable. The ramen is amazing 10/10! 2 out of 3 times I've been the food did take a little while to come out but that didn't bother me. If the restaurant looks full expect to not have a fast meal. Food is great but Jesus Christ be prepared to wait. Have dined in and it took a very long time for food to come out. I have also ordered takeout multiple times and most recently it took an hour from when my order was placed for it to be ready. Also the restaurant was not very over saturated so not sure what the hold up was. It's almost as if every time I've shown up to pick my food up, that's when they start preparing it. We have been looking for a real Sushi bar and Ramen for awhile. It is closer than going to Nashville. I had the Miso Soup which was fresh and tasty. Also had the Yakitori (chicken thighs), which were very tender and well seasoned. My BF had the Shoyu Ramen. Broth done right and noodles very fresh. The decor and restaurant done very well. Service was great! If you are looking for authenticity in Japanese food, this is the place. Will definitely be back soon! read more
