Great Gelato served with love and care by an Italian lady. It's perfection in a cup of a cone

Palermo is the sweets center of Sicily and at Pasticceria Buscaglione you will discover why…read moreSicilians in their own right can brag about the amazing sweets produced on the island. But they don't. So I will for them. Opened in 1899 (!) dishin' out pastries for over 117 years, Pasticceria Buscaglione gave me and my posse a sampling of excellent Palermitano sweets. It's soo easy to love this sweets shoppe. First, they make a genius cassata and if you've never had this, try it here. A cassata is a dome shaped marzipan cake, ricotta (best in Sicily), enveloped in a marzipan fondant type covering, so delicious and with a coffee will send you to heaven faster than a tiramisu. This version is soo good, my group got them togo. That, in addition to the awesome hand painted marzipan fruit, wrapped nicely for presents to friends, you are treated to a unique experience: you almost don't want to eat them for fear of ruining Art. The mandorle (almond based cookies) were 2die4 as well. Come here for a quick dessert and coffee, after the Teatro Massimo and have an unforgetable espresso-- so good here also. The staff here are friendly and helpful. They speak a little English but the language of food is universal, no need to speak Italian, just point and smile. Hope you enjoy this place, it's a Yelp find. Ciao. Visits: a few Tip: Cassata, mandorle and marzipan fruit are their top buys. But this bakery has been around for centuries, that's how well respected this pasticceria is.

I am standing looking at the architecture near by and the owner of this place grabbed my arm. Called me a thief. Accounted me of not paying a $6.50 check. Which I paid and left the waiter a $3.50 tip. He said no and literally dragged me down the street to the cafe. He threatened to call the police. The young server horrified said what are you doing this woman paid. He let go or my arm. I had a full blown PTSD episode of being assaulted and manhandled by this horrible man. His wife a kind person gives me tea to collect myself. I was in total disbelief of begging touched threatened grabbed and I have a bruise on my wrist. I thanked her for her apology but will not accept an apology for what her husband who she called a "Goodman" he is a brute and a very other choice words. I asked her who the hell he thinks he is he can touch a woman like h this. Disgusted. I left and walked back to the corner where he assaulted me and accosted me. There were two female police officers and I told them what happened. He was wrong and how he handled and treated me. I said I am a woman a lady. Look at me. They were upset for me and could see how activated I was from being tgrabbed in the street and treated this way. They went to the shop and spoke to the man. Today by change I walked in and I showed the wife the black and blue marks on my wrist from where her husband grabbed me. Never walk in this place. The husband behind the counter has zero business with people or handling people or near a woman. There are other reviews that mention a man who is not kind and rude to. Customers. Believe it. Cute on the outside. Don't step foot inside. I have CPTSD from being physically attacked. He's very lucky I stayed in my wise mind and didn't lose it. I did nothing to retaliate physically. I froze. As he dragged me down the street to pay for a check I had already paid. There's a special place for men like this.
