Pastors John and Elaine Orlando are so welcoming and loving and are such gifted speakers/preachers. The church used to be located near downtown Hackensack near the middle school, but this location is so much better. They transformed the upstairs of this office building into a gorgeous sanctuary. They have signs out front on Sunday so you will know where to park. Enter through the front door and go up the stairs or take the elevator. Once upstairs, there are rooms for infants and babies (childcare or where parents can go), a room for young kids, a kids ministry section for children through 5th grade, and a teen church area. At the end is the main worship room. The entire church wing is clean and beautifully painted and decorated. There's a waiting area out front as well. I love seeing all the people who attend each week -- from young families to singles to couples and the elderly. All the church staff is welcoming and friendly. They don't bombard you with questions or pressure you to keep coming. They just welcome you and offer you prayer or kind conversation. And if you have a talent to share, they welcome you to play an instrument or assist with church duties upon proper training. Worship begins with song and then a powerful message from Pastor John. He is a talented preacher, and you will be laughing and crying and feeling the Word of God. He's so funny and kind. My child enjoys the kids church and the young adults who lead that service, and my husband and I look forward to Sunday service! We used to go to Catholic Churches, but we really enjoy the family/community feel of this church and the message preached each week. It's truly life changing. They have communion once a month and family night on Wednesdays. Service is each Sunday starting at 11.

It was so wonderful to enjoy such a nice meditation. I really enjoy their social media posts of events. That's how I knew. It really is such a beautiful space. And even the main room had beautiful sculptures. I enjoyed a nice cup of coffee and they had veggie food offerings & lots of snacks for this special Meditation event. Yum. I'm happy there so many kind staff members around to answer my questions & even have a lil' tour. They had little booklets to look at to guide you along as the teacher spoke. It was very peaceful, and I felt the weight of the world lifted from my shoulders. Gen Chogyop has a special kind of gentle caring way about her. I really enjoyed this time to meditate. I originally found this center through a basic Google search, and then learned more about it via the official Facebook page (link: https://www.facebook.com/pg/MeditateNJ/about/?ref=page_internal) This specific location is conveniently located in the Millburn Mall off Vauxhall Road in Union, NJ. It is a small space which has a tiny lobby to take off your shoes, check in and pay any class fees (if applicable). It opens into a larger meditation area with a beautiful Buddhist shrine, chairs and cushions to meditate, books on Kadampa Buddhism (for sale), and a small back area with drinks/snacks and a place for the teacher to organize their things before a meeting/meditation. The interior is minimalist, comfortable, and welcoming. This is a wonderful, safe space to learn about Buddhism and practice meditation with others. I was always interested in Buddhism, but had never meditated before. Since moving nearby a few months ago, I have found a true community within this Center. For $15, you are able to partake in a 90min. meditation class which teaches you about Buddhist tradition and helps walk you through self-guided meditations. At this center, this class is usually held every Thursday from 7pm-830pm. Beginners are welcome, as are continuing members. You can become a member of the temple (for around $700/year) but this is not required to join in on many of the classes and festivities. All participants are also welcome to visit/meditate at the nearby NYC Kadampa Meditation Center, as well as the Kadampa Center upstate in tranquil Glen Spey, NY which hosts a series of wonderful retreats throughout the year. I haven't been yet but am very much looking forward to going. What I love most about Buddhism is that it cultivates knowledge and growth to more deeply understand your mind. I highly encourage anybody remotely interested in Buddhism to visit here.

We wanted readers of this site to know that this church supports a loving ministry to visit sick and shut in residents at a nearby assisted living facility. Over the past 2 years, as we visited our relative there, we saw faithful, caring, and consistent outreach by St. Thomas More to the elderly and disabled at this facility. Many of these residents could benefit from more attention from their own relatives. Sadly, from our time seeing our brother there, we saw many residents get very few visits. Because of this, the ministry performed by St. Thomas More is literally a God-send to the elderly at this facility.

We try to come here once a month and it has become one of our regular family outings. Having a young daughter, it gives us a chance to talk to her about our Gods, festivals and traditions and keep her connected to our culture. We almost never leave without eating at the cafeteria. It's always clean, food is fresh and the prices are surprisingly reasonable. My daughter is happy as long as she gets her dosa and idli, my parents love their Mysore masala dosa, and I usually stick with my medu vada and coffee. Everyone already knows what they want before we even get there lol. They have a gift shop too with a lot of idols, clothes for deities, puja items and other things for your home mandir. There is plenty of parking and the bathrooms have always been clean whenever we've visited. One thing I really wish they would add is a small playground for kids. We see so many families with children here, and I think it would be a great addition. Overall, we just enjoy coming here. We pray, walk around the temple, our daughter gets to learn something about our culture, we eat, and head home happy. Simple family time that we look forward to every month.

I grew up in this church and I would recommend it to people who are still on their faith journey to find their spiritual home and have not felt comfortable anywhere yet. The church has holy Eucharist every Sunday and some fellowship programs that rotate through the year. It has a website and social accounts where you can get more info about soecifics. Community church garden is available to anyone who wants to grow a garden, no church membership or association is required.
