We saw the sign on the roof a few times for the breakfast burrito special and finally decided to give it a try. For the price you get a big burrito but hopefully you like potatoes since that's what is mainly what is inside, very little egg or meat and not any noticeable seasoning which is fine,since they give you hot sauce. Bought burritos almost at closing time, just to bite into a burrito with burned to the crunch meat, it was so bitter, I spent over $50.00 for burned tortillas n meat. I called next day to complain, they make it seem like it was my fault for not calling the same night. Who was I suppose to talk to after hours.. Manager was supposed to call, still waiting for her call. A group of 8 of us ordered to go and we were pleasantly surprised! I wasn't expecting 5 star food but that's exactly what I got! We ordered one combo plate with a taco & enchilada, carne asada quesadilla, 4 carne asada burritos and 2 CA burritos. Everything was still hot when we received it and it was all delicious. My CA burrito was HUGE and the ratios were all even. There was plenty of meat and pico de Gallo and fries inside. I was a little disappointed that guac wasn't included though. That was a bit confusing for me considering it was more expensive than the carne asada burrito, which had guac. Hmmmm. The carne quesadilla was really good too. The portion was big and crunchy. I asked for pico on the side and we weren't charged for it, yay! The combo plate was great in portion as well. However, the beans were really grey and kind of unappetizing. The best thing about our order was the excessive amount of salsa we were given! Usually Mexican spots are stingy with their salsa but our bags were full and our tongues were on fire! Little known fact; This business was open during the riot that took place after a concert on the night of March 4, 2006. This place is what you would expect from any_____berto's in Anytown, SoCal. Prices are reasonable, good variety on the menu. I ordered two tacos thinking I wouldn't be satisfied with one...the order was ready and it was a plate full of food. The potions are generous. This place is in a marginal part of town across from the National Orange Show. The place has a small indoor eating area and a drive up. While the outside of the building is pretty worn looking, and the inside is worn too, the inside is VERY clean, including floors, tables, windows, and salsa bar. The kitchen area looked pretty clean as well. The woman working the counter was nice, polite, and helpful by holding the To Go part of my order until I was done with my eat in order. So why just 3 stars? Well my tacos, while large, were just not that memorable, with two different meats basically tasting the same. I did get three burritos To Go, so if those are more memorable, I will bump my star rating. I almost feel bad about the 3 stars because of the cleanliness of the place and the nice woman working the counter. read more

This is a little hole in the wall Mexican eatery similar to Alberto's. I decided to grab much based on the Yelp reviews, it's had 4/5 stars so I decided to try. I ordered the 2 hard shell taco plate rice & beans and an horchata to wash it down with. I spent about $8.50 and the tacos were good except it had way too much lettuce. Went to visit the fams in the IE over the weekend & HAD to pay Alberto's a visit, as it's been awhile I got my usual Carne Asada burrito/3 rolled tacos w/guac. As amazing as ever--the burritos are HUGE and crammed with meat (no rice and bean filler) and if you love guac, they shovel it on!! In fact, I have upped my rating to five stars because their food is consistently great and I swear they've barely raised their prices since the 80's. But...we were in for a surprise. Waiting for our food, we noticed a vacant building across the street with a banner saying "Alberto's Coming Soon"..huh? Aren't we IN Alberto's??? Then my dining companion looked up at the menu we'd just ordered from and the name on it was very similar to the Alberto's logo, but said "Allenberto's". So...I guess this is no longer an Alberto's, though the menu has stayed the same and the food, as well, thank goodness. Yeah for you, Allenberto, whoever you are!! It should be interesting to see what happens with these two locations competing with each other head-to-head, burrito-to-burrito! read more
