This is a 4-star, old-world European hotel near the Domo. A great location, can walk to everything in the city from here.
Our spacious room was on the second floor, facing the front. There is an old church across the street that it illuminated at night with sodium lights. The curtain fabric is not opaque, so there's light in the room when you are trying to sleep. Fortunately, I pack an eye mask when I travel. The king-size matress and pillows were very comfortable.
Breakfast buffet was just OK. Coffee or cappucino made to order, good selection of fruit juices, orange juice was fresh-squeezed some days. Pretty average baked goods for Italy, except for a delicious almond nutella tart, which they served every other day. One flavor of yogurt in a big bowl, one type of granola, a few meats and cheeses, so nothing special.
The marble bathroom was spacious and spotless. However, there was no box of tissues, so we had to buy our own at the pharmacy. The germs are different in Europe, and my wife and I both caught colds. Tried turning up the heat, but the thermostat in the room didn't seem to work, either. The water pressure in the shower was excellent.
There was a 27" HDTV positioned awkwardly on the dresser, and this was very annoying, the TV volume was locked out at 25 on a scale of 60, and I could not hear it across the room.
The staff was polite and helpful. They scored us tickets to the Galleria dell'Accademia, which was otherwise sold out on the day we wanted to go. I would stay here again, but request a room that doesn't face the street. 3-1/2 stars. read more
