The room was clean and large enough, the view from the balcony was great and the location was excellent. While not as spit and polish as Urumea we enjoyed our stay at Donostiarra. Donostiarra offers a common room with hot pot with tea selection, several tables and chairs and a tv. This is great for groups to get together outside their rooms. We felt the value received was well worth staying here. We will be back.

The room had many more amenities than I expected: full bathroom, a/c, tv, large closet, extra chairs. It was clean, stayed cool despite the heat wave, and quiet. Best for last! This…read morereview will be the last of my reviews from our recent trip to Spain. The reason I left it for last was because I wanted to give the place the attention it really deserves. Jesuskoa is a family owned and operated hotel/Bed & Breakfast. It is located in the small town of Zumaia, about 20 minutes drive from San Sebastian and 45 minutes from Bilbao. The main stone building on the property was built in 18th century by Jesuit priests and has been owned by the Oliden family for about 5 generations. The rooms are charming country-style and have TVs, free Wi-Fi and most importantly very comfortable beds. The apartments also have full kitchens. The restaurant is run by chef Ramón Oliden who uses mostly local ingredients, usually from his own garden. A breakfast buffet is offered for an additional charge, and served in the restaurant which also offers Basque cuisine. If one wishes to a charming and comfortable hideaway in a gorgeous corner of the Basque Country close to beautiful beaches of Zumaia, or the driving distance of beautiful coast of the Bay of Biscay in San Sebastian, Casa Rural Jesuskoa is the place to stay.

The owner, Lourdes, is a great host. We stayed here the first night of a three night trip to the Rioja wine region and San Sebastian, and her recomendations and suggestions, along with help booking visits with wineries/bodegas, was a huge huge asset and served to shape our trip. The hotel itself is very clean and cute, traditional but nice. In the middle of a quiet town, there are a few bars nearby and two very good restaurants in town that serve as destination dining experiences for many people visiting Rioja. The town is also only a 5 minute drive from Haro, where tasting rooms for many wineries are located, and it's not far off a major freeway that you may be following to get to the area. I couldn't say any more about how great it was. We also really appreciated that the bath towels were "sheet" size, huge! It's such a small but worthwhile luxury. Breakfast was mostly home made and served with jams Lourdes made herself! Amazing. Don't hesitate. Beds are also very comfortable.

On top of that the residence is very close to the airport. The kitchen and the bathroom were very clean with all comforts and the bedrooms were big and comfortable too. Fuerteventura is the perfect island for hiking, so I took myself the Rother walking guide, but it turned out not to be necessary to take it because the host has foreseen a mini library in the residence for the guests. I went there during the first week of march and I had without exaggeration one entire week of summer. I'm talking about temperatures up to 23 to 26 ° C, which is really hot enough to lay on the beach and to enjoy the sun. Especially after the winter has been hitting hard!

I got sick while on the Camino pilgrimage and so came here to recover for a few days. Wifi is quite spotty - have had better wifi in albergues/hostels that are 1/10th the price. When I wasn't sleeping, I'd try to be on the internet to watch a movie (I couldn't seem to figure out how to purchase any movies from the TV menu at all which was also a bummer) but couldn't get online many times. They'd reset it but that wouldn't always work. If you're not planning on working from hotel (or stuck in hotel sick like me) and will be out most of the time, then this should be a non-issue for you But rooms are immaculately clean and simple in deco. Love that they have the dark blinds in bedroom which I needed to sleep my flu away. Room service is dinner time only. The gentleman in restaurant was very accommodating and helpful. Breakfast has quite a variety of things to choose from - pastries, fruit, various fresh juices, coffee, tea, cereals, cheeses and breads. €11 for breakfast and around €20 for dinner. Laundry services also available just not same day. I wandered to the back area, near river, and there are so many beautifully quirky art pieces to be found. Apparently one of the owners? Anyway, just fantastic art all around which adds so much personality to the place.

We were equally unimpressed at having to reverse the same course the following morning to rejoin the Camino. However, we got there eventually. A sign at the desk said it would be difficult if not impossible to get a taxi from there so we immediately reconciled ourselves to the prospect of staying in the hotel for dinner as neither of us could face the thought of a 4km round trip trek back into town to eat. The room was comfortable and functional, the twin beds serviceable fitting in with the soulless atmosphere of the place. No real complaints though. The bar was deserted save for a large Asian group of walkers having a pep talk and briefing for the following day. Dinner was, at best, edible, breakfast uninspiring but adequate. We won't be back this way but, if we were, Tximista wouldn't be on the 'must visit' list. A solid 'meh' from me.

The one gripe I had is the style of showers that has a partial glass barrier. Just have a damn door. Water always gets everywhere. And that is my only complaint. the staff are very friendly, room is nice and spacious (they upgraded me to the top floor for no reason, hopefully becuase Im nice?) and it's in a quiet locale. The two guys at the desk couldn't have been nicer, and even loaned us a phone charger. The room was surprisingly spacious and nicely styled, equipped with essentials proportionate to the price. Not enough for a murder or anything. Probably just a nosebleed. So I don't think anyone died on that bed, unless they were a hemophiliac. Would've been a bigger puddle then I suppose. These are things one shouldn't have to ponder from a hotel stay, I think. I mean...just...yikes. Walking/fleeing distance to the bus station though!
