For those who aren't aware, that's not too far from The Dam or the Anne Frank museum. So it's tourist central during "normal times". Even now, they are very busy. They do their best with the high volume of people. The location is indeed a prime spot! They also have a good beer and wine selection too.

A deliciously fresh bottle of juice for under 3 euros! You put your bottle under the spout, push the button, and watch as your fresh juice is squeezed into your bottle. The juice is fantastic and you can taste the freshness of it. The oranges are just sweet enough and it's so wonderful to know it's all juice with no additives. The bottle is about 6 oz., but you can also purchase a larger bottle (can't remember the cost). There's no way you can get a bottle of fresh OJ in the states for this little bit of money! The food they carry seems to be pretty much on the healthy side. They have ready made meals you can get for a quick dinner. There are also the regular grocery items for those looking for more. Lots of different ready made salads, a meat market, fresh veggies, a fish/seafood section, and a bakery are also here. Their offerings are extensive and it's a great place to pop in for a quick meal or snack item. The one inside the Centraal station doesn't offer the same kind of selection like this branch. They have a wide variety of options for veggies, milk/yogurt, alcohol, and general products. They take cash (which is vital because so many places now in Amsterdam are credit card only). Definitely bookmark this place for your grocery runs when you are in the city.

This particular location is located on the corner of Nieuwe Vijzelgracht and Weteringshans, right outside the Vijzelgracht metro station and about a block from the Heineken Experience. Walking in, the entry to the shopping aisles is on the right, they carry all the regular items you'd find in a larger grocery, sauces and condiments, grains and noodles, produce, meat, fish and dairy, refrigerated and frozen food, drinks (alcoholic and non), and prepared foods, candies and snacks, a smaller section of household products like kitchen and bath items, cleaning products. Prices seemed pretty reasonable for the neighborhood though certain items were definitely higher than what you can find outside the city center. I ended up picking up a couple beers here for to enjoy in the evening after walking around all day. They carried some local brewers (aside from Heineken) which was great. In-person or self-check out lanes were available. Cash or card accepted. Like most locations of this supermarket you need to scan your receipt at the exit so the gate opens.

I do like the bread counter and the staff was helpful. But squeezing between columns to get to certain meats was a little annoying. I did like the wines kind are off to the side. Sometimes you just need to browse which isn't too easy in the rest of the store. Love the location, it's awesome for me when coming back from the center. Just pull over and pop in...though I don't believe there is actual posts for bikes to park on, but there is space out front. All-in-all, as Yelp has listed for 3 stars, it's A-ok!

It was very convenient for me and I came here a number of times during my stay. As a neighborhood grocery store, it has the basic goods for any household as well as a good selection of fresh fruit and breads. The Albert Heijn brand items are usually a bargain and still pretty good products. I got my stash of snacks too :) Come here if you have to have your herring fix and you just can't wait until morning to go to the local fish market. The store does get crowded after work in the evenings. Don't forget to bring your own bags!
