My truck is hardly used and I don't pull a trailer or abuse this truck. On a family vacation in July 2023 my truck broke down. Over $1000.00 to get it towed back to Edmonton just to have my mechanic tell me the transmission was shot. 21000kms!!!!!!!!! And the transmission was shot????????? I realize the warranty is for 2 years or 40000kms but 21000kms is ridiculous. The mechanics I talked to agreed that a transmission should not only last 21000kms even after the 2 year warranty expires. Needless to say , i was not impressed. I called Can west to see what they could do to help me out. Well, they didn't seem to interested because ''' it's past the two year warranty''. They said they would pay for labour but I still had to pay for parts. $2600.00 later....Can West also stated that the problem was the parts in the transmission[which they replaced in 2020]. I called another transmission company and they quoted me $2600.00-$2800.00. So I'm not really sure what I saved???? Tow truck ,mechanic, new transmission, waste of time. VERY DISAPPOINTED. Bottom line : I'm out $4000.00 for a Transmission that lasted 21000kms. I would recommend you go elsewhere.

The bottom 2 reviews are all that I had to go on when I was looking for work done to my car so here it goes. In April of 2013, I needed an out of province inspection done to my 2006 Audi A3. Moving from Toronto I figure this shop will do since it's close to work. By virtue of not knowing any better of how this program works here in Alberta, I was needless to say taken advantage of. They charged $130 for the inspection and got back to me with a rap sheet of $2000 worth of repairs required to pass as follows; 1. Daylight running light 2. Wheel bearings needed to be replaced 3. CV Boot needed to be replaced on both front axles I wouldn't have a problem doing #1 myself since all I had to do was use my VAG-COM tool to activate the fog lights as my daylight running lights. Alas, this I feel was utter nonsense that they spent 3.5 shop hours ($800 including equipment needed from what memory recalls) installing a relay harness to activate my headlamps as the DRL when all they needed to do was use their VAG-COM tool to activate the fog lights as the DRL. #2 I really don't have much of issue with since they needed to be replaced but to charge me $500 for this. ON top of that they quoted me $1,800 initially but added a couple more hours because of farting around to bring my total above $2,000 to take me for an even bigger ride. #3 Total nonsense they had to change this out entirely as it does not facilitate any safety issue. So we are at $1,500 now, they charged me $500 because they felt like it and called it a day because they ran out of other areas to nit pick on. CONSUMERS, if you are new to ALBERTA...do not go here for an out of province inspection. They will see you as a DOLLAR sign to line their pockets because of this loophole in the system that allows them to use the out of province inspection as a tool to extort money from you simply because, you need to pass it to be able to register your car here. I brought this complaint up with the Better Business Bureau and City of Edmonton to no avail. If you want to get an out of province inspection done, look up INSPECTORS on the south side. I took my 2008 Mercedes R320 there that I bought from Montreal, they charge $240 for the inspection but they keep it honest. My rear brakes were less than 40% worn and they still passed it. Had I taken it here, they would have charged me $1000 to replace the brakes and god knows what other nonsense they can come up with. To me honesty and accountability is what matters most, if you take your car here for an inspection, GET A SECOND OPINION. Get as many opinions until you find a shop that will pass your car without any nonsense. Don't settle for their outrageous and dubious charges.
