They took my money, and I never heard from them again until 5 minutes before I was due in court. I finally met ny lawyer for the first time that day.he has no idea who I was or what my current conditions are. I have not heard from them since. I am currently filing complaints against this charlatan. I have since found real a real attorney. But definitely recommend staying clear of this organization.

I moved forward with retaining his services for a hearing that was a month away from the date I hired him. He never spoke with me again until I showed up at the hearing, and I had followed up with his office each week, wanting to get an update and understanding of the strategy for my case. The necessary response that was filed on my behalf was done at the very last minute. When I arrived at the hearing, he was already attending a virtual hearing for another client, utilizing his laptop, and continued to do so through my entire hearing. I dealt briefly with his paralegal, and when I expressed my dissatisfaction with the lack of care and attention to my case, she apologized and said they had a lot of other cases to deal with and she just did not have time to assist with mine. Wow! I did not prevail in my case but he readily took my money, and he told me at the hearing that when he agreed to take my case he knew he was already committed to hearings for the same day as my hearing, as if he was insinuating he was doing me a favor. I would avoid George if you want representation that will actually spend the time needed to understand your case and prepare appropriately. I will be filing a complaint with the State Bar of California.

Unfortunately, my opinion of this law firm has changed, and I can no longer recommend their…read moreservices. Michaela and her team were attentive and proactive at the beginning of my case, but after I paid the second retainer, I noticed a clear decline in communication and effort. Michaela frequently solicits business from vulnerable women in a social media group that I am in, and I regret that I fell victim to this practice. Over time, it became evident that my case was being neglected, which ultimately led me to hire a new attorney to correct and complete the work that should have been handled by her team. After receiving my second retainer, they provided little to no attention to my case, were delayed in filing key paperwork, and my new lawyer even noted concern, stating she could see why I chose to terminate Michaela's services. Despite their lack of follow-through, the firm only refunded about 10% of my payment.

Nobody ever wants to find themselves looking for a family law attorney. However, if you're in the…read moreposition where you need one, I could not recommend Michaela enough. This woman knows the law forwards and backwards. Michaela could name case laws off the top of her head. She could name family law codes on the spot without hesitation. She would do this actively, in court, and off the cuff. The confidence and powerful presence she had was palpable. She knew EVERYONE down to the bailiffs. I was in awe every single time we left the courthouse. I was fortunate enough to have Michaela help me navigate through one of the darkest seasons of my life. She was determined to keep myself and my children safe. That was her top priority. She refused to let me accept flimsy offers which would not protect my children and me long term. Michaela doesn't only think about what's best now, she thinks about the best course of action to maintain continuity 10 years from now. Michaela ensures, as best as humanly possible, I will not need to be a repeat client. Simply speaking, to Michaela, that means she did her job properly and up to her own ridiculously high standards. She would not waver until she secured a stable future for us. You won't find that kind of integrity in most law offices. She is extremely direct, and she will be the first to admit her delivery can be intense. But you have to remember, with 36 years experience under her belt, she's a no nonsense, cut to the chase, and not entertaining what she knows is futile just for billable hours, type-of-attorney. In the end, I won HUGE on EVERY issue brought before the court. Michaela kept my expectations grounded. She under promised and then immediately proceeded to over deliver. The court order was beyond my wildest dreams and far surpasses what is the "norm" for SD County. This was after it being my ex whom filed first, which can often give the petitioner (my ex) an edge. Michaela said, "hold my legal pad" and came in like a wrecking ball. Over the 18 months we were in court, my ex was also ordered to pay about 95% of my attorneys fees. She is the ambassador of FAFO. Michaela dog walked my ex's attorney (from a well known firm) so bad that he ended up hiring a new firm towards the end. Once the new firm was involved, Michaela was able to mediate a very favorable settlement for me. I truly hope you never need Michaela. But if you do, she should be the only person you consider. She will always put you and your children's safety first above everything. That kind of peace is priceless, especially when she gets your ex to fund it.

I went in to Elite Criminal Defense for a consultation about a year ago, having multiple open…read moremisdemeanor cases. I also had warrants, as I knew that I would be retaining private council versus using a public defender, but was trying to get my finances in order before retaining one. As such I didn't go for the arraignment and warrants were issued. I did go back and try and get on calendar, but only one of the warrants was retracted. My mother and I had a consultation with Manny Scribner. I would not dispute the positive things mentioned in other reviews about him. He is certainly outgoing, compassionate, and friendly. However, please do not be confused by the other reviews implying that he is a lawyer, or would be the one handling your case/representing you in court. It is, however, easy to understand why other reviewers, and you, yourself, during the meeting would believe him to be your potential lawyer. He represents himself as the person that would be handling your case. However, my mother noticed his business card said "Legal Administrator." When my mother questioned whether or not he was a lawyer and would be handling our case, he answered no to both questions. I asked who would be my lawyer and he could not tell me. He said me it could be one of three or four people and started naming names of people we had neither met or heard anything about, and said it's really whoever has time on their schedule. Manny is in fact the glorified "pitch man." Tells you that they can do whatever is necessary to get your life back on track, etc. He then asked for my mother's ID and debit card strangely, even though we had not agreed to pay anything and disappeared for about 5 minutes. When he returned, he told us the estimate for Elite's representation was $24,000 or $6,000 (!!!) per case. Again, these were MISDEMEANORS cases that were straightforward, cut and dry. I had a petty theft charge, a paraphernalia charge, 2 drug possession charges with trace amount of drugs found....these were not felonies or drug sales cases. There were no special circumstances or anything like that. They were very, very simple cut and dry that should be easily resolved with probation, deferred sentencing or dropped altogether. Given I did not have a record prior to these offenses. Jail time was not likely. We told Manny that we had another consultation with a lawyer and wasn't weren't gonna commit to anything however I knew from talking to others that had had some similar charges that the fee should be nowhere near double digits much less $24,000. He could tell that he was losing us so he disappeared again and brought back "the closer" who is an ACTUAL attorney - I forget his name, but asked us what's the hesitation? is it the price? I said well we have other meetings that we are going to take, but my mom interrupted and said yes it is the price. He then told us that if we signed right then and there, that they could give us a 50% discount but only if we didn't take other meetings and we signed before we left the office. That showed both of us how overpriced this firm really is. The lawyer proceeded to tell me that my life was in shambles. I had hit my rock bottom and that the only way out was by retaining their services so that they could bring me back and make me a respectable member of society again. I should mention that I am gainfully employed, making 6 figures and am certainly not at my rock bottom nor is/was my life in shambles. Maybe there are people whose confidence has been shaken by their legal troubles that might actually believe that BS and be shamed into retaining Elite's services, but we did not. I was offended by his characterization of me and my stature in society/life. All in all, it felt like a really bad used car salesman was talking to us. "Saying what can we do to get you in that car today?" Except in this case it was what can we do to extort money out of you for overpriced services? Needless to say, we did not retain their services. We later went to meet with the most respected defense attorney in San Diego, certainly by reputation and word of mouth, Roland Haddad. When I told him the quote that we were given, he said it is people/firms like that that give lawyers a bad name and why people think that we are all crooks. He was blown away by what they were going to charge us. He told us that no attorney should charge me anything more than $5,000 for my cases. He charged me $4,000, and I ended pleading guilty to one possession charge and received summary probation, which is a fantastic outcome, and certainly a much more favorable one than I had anticipated. Do yourself a favor: hire Roland Haddad or find a different defense attorney, preferably one that isn't part of the legal corporate churn, where you're randomly assigned to the attorney up on deck to take on a case. you shouldn't have to strain yourself financially to obtain competent legal representation.

If you don't want a blood-sucking lawyer in the movie, Jurassic Park, STAY AWAY from this law firm…read more Here is my own experience. 1. I had a flooding dispute with my insurance for the first time in life so without any experience, I hired this law firm. They charge $500 deposit upfront and take 40% if they win the case. A mutual account is set but the firm is in complete control. The total for my lost is around $5000. At first, Mr. Ken played the scene to agree with me on my complaints about the insurance so I will hire them for the case. 2. They outsource their case to other firm for $1000+ while they still charge you for everything, mileage, parking, postage, telephone, copies and court fees. And all these outsourcing is without your permission. 3. They hire witness that they said is strong for the case by paying them $150+/hr without your permission. 4. Total fee besides their cut from the settlement is $2750.83 5. At the end, they don't really want to fight for your right by going to the court but rather just pushing you to accept the settlement so they can make a quick bucks by telling you, there are holes in your case after 6 months of reviewing the same data over and over again. It is either Mr. Ken is very slow in piecing all info together logically through his professional training or just try to make some money off you. Either way this is not good for you as a client. The original settlement for my case is $5000. After their 40% and $2750 hidden fees, I am left with $250. This is the original settlement they suggest me to accept. While they go and pay whatever witness out there for $150/hr, they are ok with their client to get $250 over 6 month period of time for constantly visiting the office. At this point, you can see how they value your case versus their gain. 6. At the end of the case, since all the settlement money goes into the mutual account that is control by them, I ask for break down on the billing info because it is large part of the cost for this case, Mr. Ken replied in email that this is how they do thing in their field and that was the last reply. Overall, this is a typical case where the lawyer just wants to milk your money without really representing you. Imagine all these hidden charges and tatics that are used to maximize their gain from your case. I will run when this firm tries to " HELP " you.
