Our Shrimp and Shrimp/Oyster Po-Boys were fantastic! Not served on hard crusty bread like some places. The shrimp was not overly breaded so the flavors of the shrimp and seasoning could stand on their own. Next time, I'm going to add a little LA. Visited Rockport this past weekend and was so excited to get some food from Alby's, but when I went they were out of what I wanted. Which of course can happen, but the girl at the counter came back and said I'm not sure if she does have them and doesn't want to make it, but she just yelled at me so.... 2 stars only because the shrimp was fresh and stockpiled on my poboy. Quantity and quality of the poboy was good. If you have a weak stomach this is not the place for you. Place stinks to high heaven. They had a CAT in the back where they cook. Can you believe that, a cat. With its bed and toys etc. Amazing this place isn't shut down. Also it was horribly dirty when I looked through window. So they never clean and they allow animals where they prepare your food. If that's OK w you the food was good. I won't be going back unless I see the place is steam cleaned. Not big on cat fur and germs in my food. read more

Whenever we make a trip down to Fulton/Rockport, we stop at this place. There are two retail businesses here. Not that we do it often, but we will travel 2 1/2 hours down 59 and 35 just to have one of the fresh fish sandwiches they sell at the little take-out place housed at one end of the building. We'll buy fresh fish here too, but that is secondary to the sandwiches. There is a seafood shop with a glassed in fresh fish counter with iced down local fish (from the bay and gulf); a frozen case where you can pick up prepared items from other seafood shops up the coast, and shelves of condiments. It's not a large place and the selection is usually limited--but it's local and fresh and sometimes we've been able to pick up some not-so-common fish species. We've always been happy with our choices. Behind the counter, we've always found smiling faces and helpful input. If you get there after noon, yoy may not find any fresh fish left. (Zach H. must have been there on a bad day or late in the day; we've not had a bad experience there.) The second business is the little take-out place: Just a sliding window to place your order from a very limited menu, (from inside the seafood shop or curbside), and a few picnic tables on the side of the parking area and close to the street. But she offers what is available at the counter just steps away. I'm not sure what it is about these sandwiches--just fresh fish cooked to perfection, with just the right breading, on just the right bread, with just the right condiments. It's one of those "finds" that you remember fondly and want to visit again, and makes your mouth water just thinking about it. read more

Just stopped by there and had an oyster po-boy. One of the best po-boys I have had in many years. The oysters were succulent and flavorful, very fresh, and perfectly fried. The vegetables were fresh and crisp. The hand-cut french fries that I ordered with the po-boy were out of this world. The service was excellent and the sweet lady at the takeout window was personable and friendly. What more could you ask for? As for Zach from Austin, you must be one of them Californian-Austin or Seattle-Austin transplant folks. This is classic Gulf Coast fare and the atmosphere... its a fish market, holy cow! read more

Being a native Fultonian, and not a tourist. I have to say this if you are a tourist please do not think that this is the place to go if you need fresh seafood. After PJ's on Fulton Beach Road got knocked out along with everything else... there was really only Alby's unless you know where to hunt elsewhere. Alby's unfortunately believes they have cornered the market after the hurricane that they do not have to have any type of customer service... ok... the customer service before the hurricane was just as bad... anyway... This is why I am going to say what I have to say: 1. The place stinks to high heaven. NO THIS IS NOT NORMAL, ASK ANY FISHMONGER! 2. It is impossible to get someone to wait on you. (Ex: May 2018 I entered their place and stood for at least 5-6 minutes with not a soul anywhere. I finally said "Ding Ding Hello is anyone here loudly, a guy came from the back of the place, I said oh Hello how ya doing, he looked right at me, sat something down at the counter and turned and walked away. He did not say a word nor did he get anyone to help me. I waited one more minute to see if he went to go get somebody and then I turned and left. I wonder how many other customers that they lose that way. 3. If you don't care about your customers then I am not sure how much you care about the freshness of your product or the hygiene of the place. 4. If you are a tourist or a local spend your money at another local place and keep on moving, the only way to improve customer service and products is to vote with your pocket book and let businesses know that you care and will shop somewhere else in the community. read more

This place is gross, smells bad, and they hardly have any local catches. Added to that, customer service is terrible. Go elsewhere.

There's no atmosphere here but the best po boy's around. This lady works hard at making the perfect sandwich loaded with perfectly fried oysters and really fresh bread with just enough fixins. Buy them to go and have a picnic lunch down at the beach park, awesome!! read more

We were on a discovery trip across the TX gulf coast when we stumbled on this family operated Alby's Seafood fresh oysters & fish sign with a mountain of oyster shells in the back & yes old shells do smell. However, we uncovered that they are the source of the fresh seafood supplied to restaurants all around the Texas Coastal Bend area. On the side they do have a little window for takeout of the fresh fried seafood with a couple of picnic tables in the front. We discovered as well that the kitchen is now managed by a returning family member who had spent the last 15 years cooking for a southern state governor. The new cook introduced a great southern style fresh fried seafood take out menu with some Po Boy seafood sandwiches. We shared a one Combo platter order of fried Oysters, shrimps & fish, it came with seafood sauce to die for made fresh in house from a her secret recipe adding a great taste to the old fried seafood accompanied with perfectly prepared French fries with own seasoning salt. We enjoyed tremendously I hope you have the same experience. read more

The food this place serves is amazing. The sea food is always fresh. However, that being said, the customer service is absolutely terrible. If you can stand to get through the people that work there then you have something good. I will probably never go back to this place just based on customer service. I even tried to call twice to place a to go order on two separate occasions and they hung up on me both times before I could even order. read more

This place is great if you want terrific fresh seafood at an affordable price. It doesn't offer a pleasent setting to dine (take out only) and the odor from fresh seafood packaging isn't pleasant. But if you want some of the finest seafood in rockport from their takeout window this is the place ... we go about three times a week and the quality of food and service has been consistently very good. read more

The po-boys are just amazing. Always fresh and flavorful. Lady behind the window is always sweet and helpful. I wasn't going to write a review but after reading the one negative review I just had to stick up for this place. Alby's is a commercial seafood house to start who just happens to make unbelievable po-boys out a window in the front. read more

Bought sacks of fresh whole Oysters here last fall. They were excellent in quality and price. I highly recommend this place.

Oysters, shrimp and local fish were as fresh as it gets. Being from out of the area, I have no price comparisons. We found fresh out the water 10 count shrimp for $6.99. Flounder and black drum fillets very fresh also. They had mahi-mahi and a couple of others which probably were imported from somewhere. I would go back to this place again. read more
