In mid-May every year Alcester closes its high street to traffic and stalls are erected to sell and celebrate locally produced food. The cafes, pubs and restaurants join in too with this jamboree feast of a festival. Foodies can gorge themselves on cakes, breads, cheeses, meats, drinks, preserves and speciality foods.
Simon Weaver's Cotswold Organic Dairy bring their brie; the outlandish Direct Beers bring their crudely named ales and bitters like Old Fart, Bullshit, Grumpy Git and Dog's Pee with their accompanying childish fictional descriptions of the brewing process; while sweetness comes in the form of Fudge Heaven with their sublime Fudge/truffle hybrid the 'Fuffle'; the kings of hot condiments Chilli Bugs add some spice with their range of sauces that grade from mild to hot, hot hot!!
