The staff were really attentive and very pleasant and personable without being in your face! Because it was a special occasion I had booked a cabin. I chose a spa cabin, a little bit more expensive than the standard but still excellent value and the jacuzzi was enormous! After a bottle of bubbly and a luxurious soak in the bubbles we were ready for our bed on the mezzanine. The rooms were terrifically well appointed and quite by far the most reasonably priced luxury we've enjoyed in a long time. I have a feeling we're going to be holding a lot more celebrations at The Gardeners!

i used to use Hull Train Station Everyday for a few years when i Commuted to and From leeds…read moreeveryday, although the station is Relatively small in comparison to other major cities, the Trains are Usually on time and the staff at the station are really helpful ! Now the Area has been refurbished at the beginning of the year, everything looks alot more upto date there are a Few Shops in the Station compount and there is St Stephens Shopping Precint Next door which is convenient for Out of Town people.

It has a fine food restaurant serving a wonderful menu, and is a mile from Little Weighton. Rooms at Rowley Manor benefit from 24-hour room service, and are traditional in style. Each comes with a TV and facilities for making tea and coffee. Rowley Manor is a 25-minute drive from Hull, and 20 miles from the coast at Hornsea. The historic city of York can be reached in less than an hour's drive. It's perfect for weddings, I've had the pleasure of attending some there myself, as well as performing at weddings there too. It's a beautiful, clean place in a stunning area. The staff are warm and friendly and it's also perfect for couples wanting romantic get away or a nice weekend away. I recommend Rowley Manor to everyone!

west park is one of the city parks in hull owned by the council, it has now been overshadowed by…read morethe kc stadium which has kind of taken over the area altogether. it is a nice little park though. not quite as secluded as the other city parks as its not as set back from the road as others. the playground area is pretty awful and in dire need of doing up as it has been pretty badly abused but they have a section with animals in, some llamas and a wallaby and lots of birds in aviaries which have recently been refurbished and are really nice. nice to have something slightly different to do locally.

Carl Simpson, founder of the Raise the Roof Hull Project, crowdfunded more than £1,000 ($1,260) so that 28 homeless people could stay at the Royal Hotel in Hull, northern England, for two nights over the festive period. But Simpson says the hotel canceled the booking over the weekend without giving any explanation, throwing the project into disarray. In a Facebook post, Simpson said he was "absolutely gutted and very angry" at the sudden cancellation of 14 twin rooms on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. "I asked for a reason and was told there isn't one," Simpson wrote in the post. "Our Xmas hotel campaign is now in serious doubt being so close to Xmas we need a miracle," he added. Hayley Harrington, director of Raise the Roof, told CNN the hotel was made fully aware the booking was for a homeless project. "They said it was fantastic but on Saturday we received a phone call from the hotel saying the room was canceled. They didn't give us any reasons," Harrington said. "We checked online and there were still rooms available. This is just discrimination." Last year, the homeless charity booked Hull's Ibis hotel for the same project. "It was fantastic and everyone enjoyed it but they didn't have enough twin rooms available to keep everyone together his year," Harrington said. CNN contacted Royal Hotel, which is part of the Britannia group, on Monday but was told nobody was able to comment. The hotel has also deleted its Facebook page.

5 stars for saving many hours driving or crossing on ferries..though I miss the ferries…read more When I went for my interview to Hull College of Art I went on a ferry (and got stuck on mudflats for a couple of hours on the way back..was very merry..where else could you drink at 7 in the morning..not that it was!) I watched the building of the bridge and went to the opening celebrations. I knew people who worked on it..spinning cables. My photography lecturer flew a hot air balloon through it shartly after it opened. of course the locals said it went from no-where to nowhere and Yorkshire and lincolnshire people never did mix :) South from Beverley and north from Barton on Humber is the famous landmark, the Humber Bridge. For 17 years it was the world's longest single-span suspension bridge, and was officially opened by Her Majesty the Queen in July 1981. It took nine years to build and provided the link between two areas which had previously been separate and distinct parts of the country. The reasons why a suspension bridge was chosen were twofold. Firstly the Humber has a shifting bed and navigable channel along which a craft can travel is always changing; a suspension bridge with no support piers in mid-stream would not obstruct the estuary. Secondly, because of the geology and topography of the area, the cost of constructing a tunnel would have been excessive. It's an impressive structure, spanning just over 1400 meters, with concrete along weighing almost half-a-million tonnes. The fifty-millionth vehicle passed over the bridge in September 1993; however, the bridge hasn't managed to pay for itself since opening. Currently costs £2.70 for a car crossing.

I'll be honest, it looks spectacular from afar, but you drive over it and there's nowhere to stop…read moreso unless you walk then these wonderful views of the river arent exactly possible to see. We made the mistake of going over the bridge when we were visiting relatives, and feel it was £6 wasted. The walls along the side make it virtually impossible to see anything over the sides, and we apparently were going too slow at 55 mph because we had a truck right up behind us one way over the bridge. I suppose it does save time and money in the long run if you need to cross this for work, but its certainly not the excitnig tourist trap some of the Hull tourist books seemed to suggest it was.
