Armine is a fantastic teacher: simple as that, she transfers her knowledge and passion in a way that it is indescribable. We have been going to their Mother's Day events for the past couple of years and it just keeps getting better. The environment is so much fun. I struggled to find another place to take in-person watercolor classes after I got what i could from the basics class. I found it here with Donna as the mentor. I drive 100 miles RT to take this 2.5 hr class. At first I was a bit concerned about the cost and the fact that the first painting is set my the teacher, however, given the professional art paints, brushes and paper, it is a bargain, even for a beginner. The first painting did take me about 8 or 9 sessions, but there are many techniques involved. I got instruction (often personalized to my needs), and was able to practice on 100% cotton paper before applying the paint to my painting. There is a maximum of 8 students in class. The techniques are not just basics but often involved and I have used them in the many paintings I have completed since that first painting. After the first painting, you can paint anything you want, and Donna will support you even if the subject is not optimal. She will truly help you make a great painting and will encourage you along when you have difficulty. Class is a fun experience with people of various backgrounds, including people with degrees in art. While I spend more time traveling to and from class, it is well worth it. I have attached some paintings I have done in this class, once I completed the first one.

The entire course covers just one painting which is done very slowly and must be done exactly as the instructor does. Step by excruciatingly slow step. I had explained in an email prior to enrolling and then again on the first day of class that I had a year's worth of watercolor experience. Donna should have told me at that time that the course wasn't for me. This was the biggest waste of money I've incurred in the five years I've been taking classes. I stopped going after the 4th class and never heard from the instructor. She was probably just glad that I didn't confront her and ask for a refund.

I toured a few other studios in the foothills area and there were many differentiating factors to note. I toured another place next to the coffee shop I frequent daily and while it would have been convenient for me to enroll my kids in that art studio, I shadowed the class and knew it would not allow my children to explore their creativity as all students were doing the same exact art and not exploring with different mediums. This art studio is very large with various areas exploring different mediums of art. You have kids doing paper mache, experimenting with clay and pottery, paint, water color, sketching, other arts and crafts....the list goes on! I love when they are playing music in the background - I think it helps the kids find their rhythm. All the staff are remarkable and SO great with kids! They have a very well organized art gallery every year and it is something we look forward to attending. My son has been coming here for a year and a half and my daughter started today! I know it says age 6 and up online but both my kids started under age 6 and have been doing great! My son even made his own space inspired Dr. Seuss book! And she texted me, "You look like you have no experience. You don't know how to appeal yourself and looks like you have that kind of sense. It's important because you need some sensitivity to treat kids." So I tried to text her back and she just blocked me... So she knew that she was being rude but she still texted me with that attitude. She judged someone with one question and she knew she was being rude but she didn't mind. This kind of person shouldn't be a teacher for kids... I can't believe what just happened.

The way that Talin price is it to me feels like a scam or like taking advantage of the system. The way she words and sets her pricing was wild. But since the Regional Center was paying for it, and I had a good prior experience at her business, I decided to go for it. Today she had a one-on-one session with my son that lasted less than 10 minutes. My son is nine, LOVES art, he's super sweet and loving and gentle. Talin kept saying "no, no, no" and stopping him every few seconds. She was so negative.. and kept making him feel bad. I felt uncomfortable and got up and when I did, I saw my son was actually on the verge of tears.. then she switched it up and started saying "oh does he not know he's doing a great job".... Ummm NOOO you're being so negative and aggressive... erasing his art and making him feel bad? Please don't send your special need children to her. She has ZEROOOOO experience or business working with special need children. She's the type of teachers that make children HATE their once passion.
