On the few occasions that I have been here with my friends, I have felt a little out of place because it is not a loud place, it seems more like a pub for the locals, something that the community are proud of. Though, on the other side of the coin, I have been with my girlfriend, had a mediocre roast dinner and chilled out there for hours.

Extremely Unsafe & Discriminatory for Disabled Guests - Please Read Before Attending…read more I'm leaving this review after months of being ignored by KOKO Camden following a serious incident that occurred on 27th February 2025. I emailed the venue on 28th Feb and again in full detail on 3rd March -- both emails were completely ignored. I attended the venue for a concert and had followed all proper procedures, including emailing the access team months in advance to confirm I would be bringing food, water, and medical supplies due to my Type 1 Diabetes. This was approved via email and in line with KOKO's own accessibility policy on their website, which states that attendees can bring food, drink, and medical items for health conditions. I had also attended this venue many times before with no issues. Despite this, upon arrival: * Security refused to let me bring in any of these items, even after showing them the official email from the access team. * My medical necessities were confiscated, and I was left with minimal supplies. * I was mocked and belittled by multiple staff members, including one who said, "That's a whole shopping bag," despite the bag being standard size and containing medical items. * I was taken into a back room by the venue medic (named Matt), who also dismissed my access needs, questioned my condition, and sarcastically asked, "So is a 1-minute response not good enough for you?" For someone with diabetes, 1 minute can be the difference between being fine and passing out. Despite all this, they refused to let me carry the bag with me and said staff could "bring items if needed" -- something that simply did not happen when I actually needed them. Throughout the night: * I became hyperglycaemic from stress, then hypoglycaemic later, and was unable to access my own supplies in a timely manner. * Staff were unresponsive, dismissive, and even shouted at my friends and PA when they tried to help. * I was denied access to the accessible toilet after the show -- the only response was "it's closed, use the regular one." * When I finally got my bag back, the medic questioned whether my blood sugar was actually low and condescendingly offered unsolicited advice -- at the end of a night where his refusal to listen had already endangered my health. I had medical documentation, an access card, official email confirmation, and visible medical devices. Still, I was denied the basic rights and support I need to safely attend an event. KOKO's own website says they "welcome all attendees who need to bring food or drink to manage a medical condition," but their staff did the opposite. I left this event physically unwell, distressed, and genuinely frightened by how little my access needs were respected. If I had passed out or worse, it would have been entirely the venue's fault. That's how serious this was. The fact that no one at KOKO has responded to me months later shows a complete lack of responsibility and care. This venue is not safe for disabled attendees in its current state. Until KOKO radically improves staff training, communication, and actual accessibility practice, I strongly urge anyone with access needs to stay away.

My friend took me here for a drink on a rainy Sunday afternoon; we had just had brunch at Rakkas - a great Turkish place nearby. This friend of mine is really spot on when it comes to finding out about hidden spots like this one...and here's how he does it; he follows the artists crowd. Being a music lover, he is constantly on the lookout for new talent and "Jam in a Jar" is a place where such talents get sponsored, featured & highlighted. Point in fact, when we were there we got to briefly chat with the owner and he mentioned that that very same night thy would have a jazz/soul performer starring. I am really glad that a bar like this has opened on Haringey Green Lanes.

Well being a Sauf Londoner heading North of the river is always an uneasy process, especially when it's this far north. I hate to say it but the walk up from the station was stunning, even if the skyline was backwards ;-). I didn't have the opportunity to head around the grounds as I was at a gig, some I'm going to review Ally Pally from that perspective. The venue itself is incredible, though it is odd being inside with tarmac underneath your feet. You walk through a variety of rooms which has a real festival feel about it, with vans, food vendors etc. You then head through some large doors to what essentially feels like a large town hall. If you want a good view, head over to the other side of the room, and find a window sill and make sure you keep that spot, as when the bands come over you can stand on it and you're 3 foot taller than the rest of the crowd. You do need someone to help you balance and dancing isn't really functional, but it's great if you want to see everything that's going on. The acoustics were not the best ever, but to be honest that's not what live gigs are about it's the atmosphere and this is one of the best venues for that!! read more

This seems like a really diverse venue, looking at all the reviews about events held here. I went for Secret Cinema, and lets face it those folks make an effort- even so I think half the charm was the amazing setting. It really is a stunning venue, set high up on the hills, overlooking the whole of the city. Looking into the history I saw that the first public television transmissions were made in 1936 from the Palace (the People's Palace as it was known) and I love that it has played such a significant role in London's advancement. I can't wait for fireworks night now, I'll be meandering up the grassy slope with all the others for the best view in town. read more

Went there on a saturday with my boyfriend and we had so much fun. Saturdays are disco nights. 8.30 to 11pm/ Good value for money with sessions lasting two and a half hours, meaning you can take regular breaks off the ice and visit their reasonably priced cafe. Tip: if you have pre bought tickets, you can go straight to the front, even though it seems like you have to wait in another queue read more

We arrived late and looked for a place to eat after the long flight. And The Moon and Spoon caught our eye. The atmosphere was just as to be expected. Lively pub with friendly wait staff and plenty of locals. My wife was having a bit of jet lag, and the beer and delicious food hit the spot. We ended up eating three meals there in the following days. It really hit the spot. Everything was hot and fresh. Food tasted great. We had Bangers and Mash from a tourist trap in a local town, but these were definitely better. If you're in the area and looking to grab a pint and a cheap but tasty meal, definitely check them out.

For once I was happy for my friend to be late as I had a chance to explore the beautiful theatre bar. I am not usually a fan of bling and pink, but this place just made me smile, a tasteful update of the dark and dingy bars of yesteryear - nothing seedy going on here! Quite the contrary, you walk up another flight of stairs to reach an intimate theatre, small but beautiful, to enjoy West End quality at fringe prices. I particularly like the idea of playing ticket roulette - you pay a set price and get allocated a seat anywhere in the theatre.

Can't wait for the summer again to sit out and relax but even in this mild winter it's fab space. I've been here at Styx inside for a Sofar sounds gig which was quite cool. Long space. Would crisply be great for a little rave or dance/dnb as its nice and darkly lit. Almost an undiscovered gem of a venue and I reckon it's part of the start of the birth in social spaces and eating/drinking in this area thanks to the new Crossrail in coming years.

However, as usual, they didn't provide enough towels, and couldn't be bothered to bring them - that would be your job to come and collect them downstairs. My only complaint about the room was the shower: it had a very high step into it, as in the floor of the shower was not level with the floor of the bathroom. If I were 65 or older, might have had an issue. The shower also had a slow drain. That happens sometimes. We enjoyed the full English breakfast buffet, bundled with price of our room. Amazing selection of tea, coffee, danish, and hot food! Really good for the price and better than I expected from hotel food. The restaurant staff and the hotel desk staff were top notch. I would stay here again! No major concerns. Thanks Premier!

They have a couple of bars in there depending on what shows are on will affect which bars they open. Sometimes the staff are not sure which one is open until told by the evening supervisor. Speaking of bars I was at the venue for a show and with my ticket you were meant to get a discount on wines, beers and spirits, however the bar staff were oblivious to this and it was not until a supervisor came along they knew what was going on. I have been to several productions in this venue from school performances to performances from seasoned actors and have always enjoyed them. They often have art exhibitions in the upper part of the venue and sometimes these are free to view but not always. What I like about the venue is that they have, what I consider to be a friends of Fairfield Halls work force. These people look as though they are retired (apologise if they are not and I am doing them a disservice) who man the stairs and lobby areas directing people to the right areas of the venue for there activity. In terms of parking there is limited parking at the front of the venue which is £5 for an evening stay and I have no idea about the prices during the day. I would say that East Croydon station is a 5/10minute walk dependant on your speed and it is also served by good public transport out front. There is a car park below the venue and I believe you can get discount for parking their when you buy something from one of the concessions within the food area, but I cannot remember which it is, sorry. A good venue to see a show or a tribute band or the local schools production, my it be around forever, as long as I am anyway.

There are nice views out across Dalston, south over Haggerston, east to Hackney and London Fields, and north toward Stokey. The roof itself is covered with astroturf and has little planter boxes of herbs and veggies, and a ramshackle bar with an enticing cocktail menu. There are quite a few places to sit and enjoy the fresh air and views. I went in the middle of December with a friend who was ill, so staying to hang out for a while wasn't an option, but I will definitely be back in summer!

I cant say I was enamoured with the place. It has mis-matched, creaky, dusty old furniture and and going for that old man pub feel. Lots of old books and boardgames inhabit the shelves. There is an average selection behind the bar, but the prices are high for the area, considering the closest competition is the very competitive Fox and Firkin and a spoons. There is a garden space and an ok selection of food. I suppose if you want a no frills quiet drink with a friend this is the place to be, but don't expect anything spectacular. So it gets two stars, not because its bad, but because I felt 'Meh. I've experienced better' really summed it all up.
