I found Cross Island Farms on the internet and we decided to check it out. The farm was not what I expected but it turned out to be a pleasant experience. When we drove up to the front of the house (yes, house) we were greeted by two friendly dogs. As we are all dog lovers, we made friends with them right away. We went inside and saw a table full of fresh fruit and vegetables and more in a refrigerated case. Someone (one of the owners?) came to help us. She helped us choose what we needed and told us about the selection of meats. We then also bought a thick sirloin steak that we ate that night. It was yummy. She also told us about the fruit picking. We went back the following morning to do that and got some more freshly picked fruit. Wow, those strawberries were very tasty. Can't get them in Westchester County. (We live in Peekskil, NY and Denver. No one is from San Francisco. Where did that come from?) As for the animals, I think you have to take the full tour to see them all. But we did see a few pigs and goats. I wanted to pet them all as they seemed friendly but they were behind a fence. Oh well. Overall, a very satisfying experience. Just don't expect anything fancy.

Cross Island Farms is certified organic. They sell goat, beef, pork, [organic/free-range] eggs, fruits, vegetables and herbs. They have educational (and enjoyable) farm tours, primitive campsites (private&no energy/water hook-ups, walk in etc.,) and volunteer opportunities. It is a fairly small farm run by two people in the thousand islands region of NY.

This K-12 school is the only school I have ever been to. I have been here 8 years...... yeah it's…read morethat good As everyone knows bullying is a huge factor in public education, it is rarely an issue at this school and this school has top notch tech such as new laptops, chrome books and iPads. We also have some of the cleanest bathroom you can ever see in a school (thanks to mr. Keller and mark). All the teachers are as friendly as can be towards students but still are strict and make sure that we r disciplined and respectful at all times from. If u r looking for a place to help your kid flourish come to SHCS just take a right if of Washington st.

My children attend Sackets Harbor School. I am a NYS Licensed School District Administrator with…read moreover 30 years of public service. The current administration is completely unresponsive to parents concern IF it reflects poorly on the Superintendent of Schools (it's only one building of approx. 400 students total k-12) School taxes are VERY high. No matter about that. I EXPECT them to do their jobs. The instructional staff is stellar. PTO amazing. Zero complains about the education my children receive CURRENTLY. They went so far to send the police to serve a letter saying I would be charged with something ????? I wrote back and called, spoke with local District Attorney and welcomed arrest for asking questions they didn't want to answer. Went to the local officer and spoke with him personally. If saying this is a crime, I am unaware of it and do not intend any harm whatsoever. Just the truth. It's the Superintendent who is afraid of the truth, and if it were told. She might lose her job. I don't want that. ALL I ever wanted was truth. I never got it, not once. I made the mistake of asking too many questions and they sent the local police officer to my home 30 miles away to serve me with a paper tiger warning from the Superintendent herself. NOT the school board. I suspect they have no clue about exactly what happened. To be clear, it stopped asking questions. BUT, I was not wrong. Please, bring it all to the light of day. I welcome it. But tried to not say anything public. This is all I'll say. No defamation, no threats, just concern for my own children got a police response. ABSURDITY in action! The "Superintendent" actually said I can't expect a Superintendent to be that responsive and BANNED me from the Parent Square information portal despite knowing I am totally and permanently disabled do to failing health after retirement, AND telling me that was the route to communicate. I WAS offered 5 minutes to air my concerns. Ha. I've spent 5000 hours. Lip service is all I got. Shame on you both. Some might saw they displayed cowardice, over a simple q they refused to answer about my own child. I called SHAME on them. That's the worst word I said to any of them. I can prove this as I recorded it ALL. I told them I was. This is my 1st public complaint. But, I can back up every work as I went so far as to make a FOIL request, which was ignored. When I asked for the school board presidents phone number, it had been disconnected. That was this school year. Don't be fooled. They take care of themselves 1st. Not the students. No personal complains, except ignoring the truth. Since this directly involves my family, this is a hard review to write. I'm sorry to have to do it. But, it's done. Shame on you.

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!!!!…read more I started going to school here in 5th grade wasn't a great experience. won't provide details but I transferred to another school when I came back half of 8th grade year I could already feel I was being judged for my past. one day I was stressed over grades and shi when in lunch I just wanted to ignore everyone. the school I came from allowed hoods not knowing this rule here I put my hood up and laid my head down on the table. not eating at all. a power hungry lunch monitor came up to me and asked for me to put my hood down not asking if I was ok or anything just wanted to express the "rules" when I refused she became very rude and called me a "cry baby" for attention when I was just wanted to be left alone. so I cursed her out calling her multiple slurs and got in trouble. I will take accountability and say that's my fault but you can't just worry about rules more than a students wellbeing. most of the teachers in the ms are nice its when you get to HS they show their true colors the school cares more about sports than other programs and they claim they have the "best" music program. the morning announcements have a whole segment for sports when a school play or other important events only get a notice or barley mentioned. the admins don't care at all about bullying unless your a student athlete. it's when you take matters into ur own hands when it becomes an issue. oh and the cell phone ban. many teachers say at the start of the year say "I won't be on my phones" yet do it anyways. the school community and area is racist and very non-colored friendly many students pray on you because of your color and the teachers do minimal effort school fights happen to a tea and the admins barley get involved unless a punishment is given out or a student athlete gets involved. most of the time its the athlete getting away with it even if they start the fight. if I could rate this negative stars I would overall if your transferring to fort drum do not send ur kids here it is not recommended at all!

ever since I came here, my life has been a nightmare, the staff rarely cares for the students, it…read morelies about being bully and drug free, when in reality, they punish students who come clean and try to quit, and they ignore bullying. I had gotten suspended, for going to a guidence counsler, one of my teachers had read my friends diary/journal, physicaly picking it up and putting it to her slimy face to read it. making my friend cry as they left the room. when I told the guidance counsler this, and told them that the teacher needs to apologize, I was suspended, and they said I could not return till I got a threat assessment. for bullies, when a bully physically hurt my friend, and I stood up to the bully, publicly, I was the one who got in trouble, there was no fight, just an exchange of words. some of the caffiteria staff are power hungry, they mainly get after students that they don't like, and their favorites, get away with everything. one experience (my sibling, not me,) was my sister. she was overwhelmed with grades, she needed more time to study a more important class, and she was going to drop band so she could get a learning center, and rejoin next year to continue her passion for music, even offering to still continue the lessons provided without the grade that comes with it, because she was dedicated. but instead, the band teacher, got some of the music department to cohorce her to stay, bullying her, teachers, bullying a student, into staying in it. it got so bad that our parents had to get involved. one day, I bought horned hair clips with my money, and wore them to school, not as a costume, but as hair clips, and I got called the devil, or playing as the devil as I walked through the tight halls. one class I have, we have roudy students, (like literally, they interrupt the lesson, they yell, they cause a ruckus, they slam chairs, act stupid, and just act like toddlers, they litteraly caused the whole class to be punished for their actions) and the administration wont do a thing about it, even after many complaints. I've been threatend to be suspended over minute things, sleeping in class, wearing a head covering to hide my unruly hair... wearing hair clips. teachers get mad at me for drawing in class, even when its part of my 504 plan. speaking of witch, I've only gone to my meetings about MY 504 plan. ONCE, they have made the decisions without my knowlage, or consent, for YEARS. I only know 3 things about my 504 plan, extended time on prodjects if needed, I'm allowed to leave the class for a break, and I can draw to help me focus. and that's the extent of my knowlage of it. there is only a few good experiances I've had, and only a few. some teachers are nice, inspiring, some days I don't get bullied, but at the end of the day. this school is the worst place to send your kids. and the only reason we didn't go to a preparatory school, was because all of them was religous. in all truth, move out of NY, this place sucks, and if you cant, homeschool your kids in the carthage-watertown-blackriver area.
