However I recently discovered that they only have 4 cashiers for senior citizens and 2 are not properly labeled. So the other 2 lines have super long lines of huge carts. It was a bit disappointing. I talked to the supervisor about this and I hope they will improve on this.

Hunts Pork & Beans, Hunts Tomato Sauce, a large variety of posta other than spaghetti. They have my favorites, Fusilli & Rotini. Also can find low calorie Cranberry Juice. Since I spend P20K at S&R/Landers, I'm not concerned about the prices at Pioneer Center because they are reasonable and available.

Then they tell us to come back next time for the credit slip, when it should take 2 minutes to give you a credit slip that day, then you come back and they say they lost your request for a credit - Mickey Mouse business practices and this is wrong.

The highlights, for me, are the great variety of greens, fruits and vegetables (including organic ones!) and the fact that they sell Santïs meats, so I don't have to do two shopping trips. They sell also a good variety of rice (if you're not used to the filipino one, then they have Basmati, Jasmine, Brown Rice and much more) and beans. Thanks to the beans from Landmark, I can keep the Brazilian "rice and beans" tradition at home. And believe me, that means a lot to me :) I also love Landmark's food court. There's a green juice in some stall there that's is just perfect. I also like Bread Talk and Kumori, the Japanese bakery. I mean, there's a lot to explore there before you start pushing your shop cart! TIP: Landmark is cheaper than Rustan's and has much more variety than the SM Supermarket. I myself cannot finish a big serving of it so the size that Bibinkinitan sells is just right for me. It is really cheap, too! Each piece is just 20 Pesos, perfect for every budget. They sell boxes of the stuff too just in case you want to bring some to the missus at home. However, the reason I usually come to Bibingkinitan is not for the sweet rice cakes. I patronize them because of their cheap 100% Pinoy barako (Liberica) coffee which is really strong. I'm not one to go to Starbucks or other coffee chains just to loiter and ogle at people. If I just want a cup of decent coffee, Bibingkinitan does the trick for more than half the cost.

I really can't stand the smell in this supermarket though, I can't pin point it down but I think it has something to do with the smoke that comes from the deli section. They often run out of items and don't have it for days (e.g. almond milk, sugar beets, coriander, mint, etc.)

I was very excited when I came across Epicurious in Shangri-La's East Wing. I was exploring the newly-opened wing of the super snazzy mall when I saw the beautiful storefront that had displays of fresh fruit and vegetables. I came in and I was instantly impressed with the design and the concept of the place. They have shelves upon shelves of deli food items such as breads, sausages, steaks and packaged food. In the far corner, they also have a small counter where they display their house specialty cakes and desserts that go well with their coffee. In yet another corner is a fully-functional kitchen where they usually hold cooking demonstrations and tasting events. You will find specialty ingredients, cooking utensils and kitchen supplies for your next lunch or dinner party. Epicurious is my go-to place when I am in Shang. I would skip my veg diet and go for the spicy sausages, which I can have the staff grill for me with salt and a little black pepper. I would also order the salads and the pre-made sandwiches from their deli display cases. My usual meal would be the sausages and salads cooked on the spot and served with warm bread from their boulangerie section. I love the "paluto" concept where you pick from the produce and have their chefs prepare your food for you. I always feel like a kid let loose in an amusement park when I go through their shelves. I find so many interesting things that I want to try. The prices are manageable and I think they are worth the value of the goods that are on display. The staff, which are managed and hired by the Center for Culinary Arts (CCA), are always very polite and helpful.

After going around and checking the bookstores, my mom texts me to tell me to meet her at Marketplace. She was still there going around and inspecting every little thing they had in that supermarket. They have the usual things you find in a Rustan's supermarket. They had their cheese, cold cuts, sushi bar, sandwiches, salads and pastas. But what made it different was that it's been years and they finally decided to put a good supermarket in BGC. It's about time! And I can finally say that High Street finally has everything. It's a small supermarket but it's packed with great goods and they have a special aisle for Korean food. Really interesting and I left the grocery with a lot of Korean noodles.
