What a great library! Definitely stop by for a visit. We brought our pre-schooler in knowing we would have a great time. We were disappointed that the play area was closed due to the pandemic. We understood, but we were still sad. We immediately went over to the books and found a gold mine. We love the Berenstain Bears and found some that we didn't have that we could read while at the library. We loved the scavenger hunt and the weekly kids' craft. Thanks for being awesome, and for having a great selection of books and other great materials. Follow @ohiofoodlover on Instagram

Garden statue on the back patio outside the youth department. Patio is large enough to host youth programs in the summer!

Update: Previous review is out dated. This local library is large and has a lot to offer. Recently updated and a wing added in to make it even bigger than before. The entire lower level is the youth department. Younger kids books to the left with a small play area. Librarian desk in the middle as a focal point for questions and guidance. Older kids books, DVD's, research books and encyclopedias to the right. There are several study rooms available and a large meeting room for story time. Upstairs (or up the elevator) is the adult section. Here you will find Hot, new books; dvds; a magazine room that doubles as a quiet room on the back side of the quiet wing; research books; fiction; non-fiction; study rooms; Teen Room; craft room. If you have the library app in your mobile device you can place books and DVD's on hold to be picked up at the front desk. The youth and teen department heads are most helpful and great at hosting various activities throughout the year. The adult section librarians are kind and helpful. We love our local library and our librarian friends whom we've come to know over the years of bringing our now teenager to all the activities and school research over the years. Love love love this library.

    Newly remodeled youth area downstairs!

Lovely library with a very friendly staff. Plenty of parking surrounding the building. The inside is neat and tidy.

This one is a smaller library for sure but don't let that deter you…read more We love the different board games available for play and you can check out other toys to use around the open areas. My daughter and I did the scavenger hunt and it was relatively challenging. We had to do a few loops to find them all. Eventually we ended up finding the last one in an unlikely location and we got to pick from a basket of little trinkets. This is also the only library I've been to that carries American Girl dolls. The only problem is that you have to be a resident in the district to borrow them. Unfortunate.

First, the good…read more This a newer, beautiful facility that's easy to navigate. My 7yo still likes to come in and do the scavenger hunt. Books that I request usually arrive pretty quickly, and having a library van drop books on my front door is absolutely spectacular. The library summer reading challenge has been a great way to show readers how to access resources like audiobooks, e-books, Library of Things, and research portals that many of us don't even know exist. Now, the ugly. I have two issues. First, I assume the collection is based on what patrons request and what circulates. If it is a reflection of our culture's tastes, it's saddening. There is so much poor quality, tasteless literature in this library collection, especially the YA section. If I'm looking for a classic, it usually gets shipped in from a library outside of Dundee. It makes me sad that our taste in literature is so trashy that we don't even carry high-quality, enduring classics (especially children's classics) at this location. I am not a book burner. I do not favor censorship or banning books. But I DO want high quality literature for my family. That isn't visible amongst the junk and the twaddle. The other issue is the fact that, consistently, when I walk into the library, whether I'm alone or with my kids (who do behave), not only are we NOT greeted, but no one even makes eye contact. There are two librarians that are friendly, but I rarely see them. The librarians that are usually there do not look up, do not smile, do not say a word when we walk in. If we need help with something and approach them, I get the impression that we're interrupting whatever it was that they were doing. Please, librarians. You WANT citizens to want to come to your facility. It has so much to offer. It is a wealth of resources for the unemployed, for researchers, for the curious, for kids, for anyone looking for information (and knowledge -- and maybe even wisdom). Please act like those people are actually welcome. Please, administration, be more discerning when you hire and train your staff. Please hire people who love their neighbor, who want to help, who approach patrons, who want to form relationships with local families looking for good books, who are excited about story time and read-alouds, who love kids.
