    Falafel wrap

Yeah so Ali Baba Kabab is good. Not the absolute greatest yet not bad either. Definitely a take out place, it feels very awkward when eating inside. The big plus is that food is served hot and fresh..you know..fries aren't sitting in a heat lamp, you have to wait because food is made to order, and that is good! Service is emotionless and a tad slow although one gentleman was nice and handed us bottled water, thanks bro! I suppose if you order in advance and pickup, service really doesn't matter so in no way would I recommend turning away from this place, give the carryout a chance when you crave falafel and kebab.

Ali Baba Kabob is the best authentic Middle Eastern food. It also isn't some chain where they mass produce average items. One of the best places to try something other than fast food while in Schaumburg. Has some lunch combos. They also make large platters. I picked up an order here recently and was impressed. It for sure isn't like many of these fast food style Middle Eastern restaurants. Those have been popping up everywhere and they're pretty much the same thing. Here it's a lot more authentic. The atmosphere also feels like it's in their home. Basically it is because they spend most of their time running a business. They have a Falafel Wrap Meal. It's $10.99 for a falafel wrap, a drink, and fries. The falafel comes with Arabic salad, hummus, and pickles. It has a generous amount of falafel. There's also other lunch specials to check out. A good small local business. It has many Middle Eastern favorites. The prices are pretty good for the big portions you get in these.

I normally don't post negative reviews. But wow, I feel like I should warn people. For $16, these "platters" are an absolute rip off. This is the Lamb Sheesh with beef Kofta. Like 5 pieces of meat. This is mostly rice. The beef shawarma is definitely more reasonable. The food is OK, but upon complaining about the value, nothing was done. There are so many other places in Schaumburg that offer a better value than this!

    Lamb shank

A coworker from the Middle East recommended this place. Oh wow. It's so good. The three of us shared 2 lentil soups, hummus with chicken shawarma (the trip would have been worth it just for this), falafel, lamb shank, lamb sheesh and chicken (we brought most of it home because the servings are so big), and baklava. We ordered the lamb shank because they were bringing it out for a customer as we were arriving to the restaurant, and it looked amazing. It was! Served with a bowl of lamb broth. So good.

We went to Ali baba for a birthday celebration and the food and ambience was not what we expected after reading the reviews online. We were expecting a nice sit down place where the server would take our order. The staff was nice overall but we got the impression it was a bit of a hassle for them to serve us. I ordered the mixed grill platter and the meat was above average but I wasn't very impressed. We ordered 6 piece of falafel and they were a bit over cooked. My wife ordered the Tahina salad and she felt the salad was average. Overall, we all agreed that pita house is still tops in the area for Mediterranean food.

A hot summer weekday after work, we decided to try my first-time-ever kebab restaurant. It's in the same plaza as Vasco's Peri Peri, for which I wrote a review a few weeks ago. I think this plaza is a hidden ethnic food paradise in our area! We arrived here around 2pm, they were still accepting lunch special orders. So we tried two different lunch specials and a dessert. There were no other customers dining in, but I saw at least 3 different customers came to pick up their orders. Bathroom was clean, and it was quiet around the dining table area. Our orders: Lunch combo #2: Chicken Shawarma Lunch combo #4: Veggie platter Dessert: Baklava with pistachio Drinks: Sprite and Arabic mint tea Vegetarian platter - 5 stars First I need to mention that I did try Naf Naf Grill once before, or some hummus package from grocery shops. But I have never been to a Persian / Mediterranean restaurant before. So my experience was quite limited. Veggie platter includes hummus, baba ghanouj, 3 falafels, rice, salad and pita bread for $8.99. And on this plate, I rated all of components 5 stars. Especially hummus and baba ghanouj were so tasty with a lot of flavors. Especially some smoky flavor in baba ghanouj was top notch! Falafel was nice and spicy. Rice matched with everything on on the plate, and pita bread can hold them for a big bite. I would recommend this platter for first timers like me, and at least once try to eat each ingredient separately with a spoon, so you can realize how rich they taste. Then enjoy mixing everything up in the pita. That was the meal of the day today! Chicken Shawarma plate - 4 stars Pretty similar ingredients as the veggie platter. But this one has sweet white onions with spices and shredded chicken, which was a little dry for me. Everything tasted good, too! Baklava with pistachio - 5 stars This small pastry also had a great flavor. I am not sure what it was, but I guess condensed milk and honey? It might sound pretty sweet, but it's not. Very fluffy texture with chunks of pistachio paste. And surprisingly this was only $1! I could eat 10 of them for lunch! Arabic mint tea - 3 stars I thought it was just tea. Nothing really special. So my first Persian / Mediterranean restaurant experience ended up 5 stars level! I would love to try other beef or lamb dishes. I am thinking of jumping into the leftovers right now...

For starters dining area is closed off Server who took my order was very very nice and stated they are expanding maybe two more weeks till they open dining room . I ordered the combination platter and was just Ok with steak being over cooked and lacked flavor, grilled chicken was great and lefts was so thin I thought I'td disappear lol. So Imo I felt not enough meat at all for this platter. Hummus abs pita was good . Ordered chicken 3 shawarmas which were awesome my sons were raving about them. Before I forget ordered their Falafel and have to say they are awesome quite tasty... all and all service was great and they better present their combo plate w more meat and better cooked steak I'd give them a better rating until then I will give them another try in future and update my review then... Thank you for taking the time to read my review

Thankfully, Phat Phat stepped in to fill that gap. We drove 30 miles for a late lunch around 2:30 p.m. to hopefully beat the crowds. There's a huge parking lot in the back, the building itself is incredibly unique, and the interior is absolutely beautiful. It feels modern while still being warm and inviting. We wanted to try a variety of dishes, so we ordered two baskets of the Shanghai Soup Dumplings, the Enoki Mushroom appetizer, Chicken Fried Rice, Phat Phat Chicken, Nasi Campur, and finished the meal with the Mango Sago. Everything was incredible. The soup dumplings definitely filled the void that Din Tai Fung left behind. Every dish was fresh, perfectly seasoned, and served piping hot. The Mango Sago was the perfect palate cleanser and a refreshing way to end the meal on a hot summer day. The standout for me was the Enoki Mushroom appetizer. That will be a must-order every time we come back. We also have Indonesian family and have visited Bali, so we were excited to try the Nasi Campur. It was spot on. The satay is another must-order in my opinion. Our waiter was kind and attentive, and the rest of the staff were just as welcoming and pleasant. Overall, this was a fantastic experience, and we'll absolutely be back.

My recent visit to this restaurant was the first visit in over half a year. My last visit was quite a bit ago because I was upset at how poorly resolution was for a missed meal I ordered for one of my co-workers. This recent visit as of tonight will be my final visit. I try to see it through and remain a good patron of businesses I appreciate but good service must exist. Do I expect a business to get it correct all the time? No! But I do expect there to be some semblance of competency, grace and determination to find resolve where error was made. Tonight I placed an order for myself and my gf. I received an automated email response suggesting the order would take between 30-45 minutes, which is totally fine. I figured I'd allow some extra time before arriving. When I get to the restaurant, I'm told my order would be ready in another 15 minutes. While I was slightly upset, I didn't let it bother me. I just went back and sat in my vehicle for about 20 minutes. I came back into the restaurant and waited a few more minutes before being called to get my food. Upon stepping to the counter, the lady looked at the receipt for my food almost confused and said "sorry, there aren't anymore beef patties but I can swap that item with another side" I'm not certain if she was aware or not from the kitchen staff that this item wasn't present but it struck me as odd based on her reaction. More importantly, I'm more than upset now but I handle this situation as calm as can be, by pausing to think about how to respond. I choose a side to replace for lack of the beef patty but can't help but notice the price difference doesn't even align. Shortly after making a decision on item to swap, I ask how long ago did that item sell out today. She replies and says, "it's been sold out since around noon" and at that point I just try not to stare or show emotion. While she did apologize for this mishap, it just didn't go over well with me. The lack of communication prior, struggle to find proper resolution for this incident and the previous one. Do you not have a POS system which updates automatically against your live stock? Or being attentive to detail would have helped and a simple phone call would have sufficed had they known this. Btw, the previous incident was an order they forgot to give to a delivery driver, only to blame that driver. I had to drive to the restaurant to pickup my co-workers meal during a busy work day after they realized they messed up and actually left that meal on the side of one of their counters. This restaurant has pretty good food and options for food in general but that alone won't solve your problems running a business if you screw up and struggle severely with customer service. I've come here more than several times in the past but no longer will that happen.

The sauce is bright and tangy--obviously spicy, but so, so good. And there's really no place similar in this area. Paired with the rice and beans and cabbage helps tone down the spice. Goat Curry - So spicy but so flavorful! The meat is tender and it's addictive. Beef patty - This is different than others, and it seems deep fried where I'm used to baked. Always love a beef patty and our kids enjoyed it. Plantains - Our kids love plantains in whatever form. Plus, these aren't spicy so they eat them all. Mac and Cheese - I'm usually wary of getting mac and cheese for kids because it's bland and watery (my child's words not mine), but THIS mac and cheese was SO good! So much flavor and gooey cheese sauce. Both our kids loved it and said it was delicious. Easy win! Candied Yams - Of all the tasty things, this is probably my least favorite. Everything on the menu is packed with deep, rich flavor. But candied yams are just too sweet for me. I think people who like sweet things will love this, but my preference tends to lean less sweet and more savory. So if you're not huge on sweets either, maybe skip this and go for the other items. The staff here are so nice--we ordered with the high hopes of ox tail (one of the non-spicy items) but they were all sold out! My husband was so disappointed that she took pity on him and just gave him the sauce and bits and bones that were left because they couldn't sell it anyway. It was SO good. Almost better than the first time I remembered it. I could be entirely too full and still want a taste of these ox tails! Please never go out of business or change hands--this place is a gem.
