Terrible quality meat and portion is so bad. The menu says saj bread but they use tortillas and only have tortillas there. Also my stomach was super upset after eating this so theres a clear hygiene issue too. On top of the bad food the service was so bad. One guy working one dude just watching him. Stopped by for lunch after a rare day of working away from home. The service is quick and no nonsense, you order at the counter with the food, pay and eat there or takeaway. Got the chicken shawarma platter and it comes with a tonne of food if you're feeling hungry! Ample amounts of garlic sauce, hummus, chickpea and green salad, roasted potatoes and picked veg with chicken shawarma over a bed of rice (choice of yellow or brown). The prices are reasonable for the quantity and the location slap bang in the middle of downtown. One of the better spots for Middle Eastern food in the area. read more

I wasn't feeling very well a my friend was showing my around Toronto. A friend of a friend recommended me this place, as he said how amazing it was while he was in college. Just to find something to do we stopped by and I ordered a simple platter, first item on the top, with beef. i took one bite and i felt as if i was in heaven. absolutely delicious and i forgot about my allergies with caffeine. Next time I head back to this place, i hope inflation doesn't change the pricing because i'm ordering the same thing. I came here to get some healthy food, and grabbed some falafels in a platter $13 after tax. I went in for the fish, but I think this location is under renovation or recently has some done so they're not up to full menu pace. I asked to sub potatoes for rice, which the staff politely did for me. The falafels do take a minute to fry, but they come out golden and crunchy. These little balls are also dense. So be prepared for a full plate. Some items from the salad bar or standard veggies were missing. They didn't have taboluh salad, I didn't feel fried egg plants, or other items I'm used to seeing at this chain. I was happy with the taste of my food, but really wanted a better salad. The other thing is it could have used more sauce... I ran out of sauce before I was half way through my food. The staff are generally pleasant, and the service seems to be quick (minus the time is takes for fresh items to be cooked). I do wish they had my fish for the platter, but the falafel tastes great so I really can't complain too much. The store was clean, but there is very little room for seating at the front. I'm not sure if they have a back section for customer seating. They take debit, and Apple Pay. read more

I've always complained that I've never had a good Shawarma in Toronto. The only good one was in Lebanon. Last year a friend (student at Ryerson) swore that this Ali Baba makes the best Shawarma. I told him I've eaten at other Ali Baba's and it's meh. He told me to give it a try, so I did. INSTANTLY CONVERTED..... This has to be the BEST SHAWARMA in Toronto! This is what you do. 1. Chicken Shawarma 2. Add Garlic, Pickles, Pickled Turnip, Onions, (you can add tomatoes if you want) 3. Add a bit of Hot Sauce, Tahini, and Extra Special Sauce (this sauce is special) 4. Extra Toasted OMG, the chicken is so juicy. There's a nice crunch from the onions and pickles. The combinations of sauces are so fucking good. ** I would also recommend that you order their fries with hot sauce, special sauce and tahini and YOU CAN ADD EXTRA GARLIC. Got the chicken wrap - the chicken was extremely juicy and it was all topped off with pickled vegetables, garlic sauce, and a combination of sauces. The wrap was amazing! Alibaba has decided to shrink the amount of food they give you. First,take-out they increased the price of their food, now they have decreased the size of their take-out containers so you are getting about 2/3rd of what you use to get. This is very disappointing. I use to eat there with regular frequency but no longer. It's one thing to increase your prices to reflect the increasing cost of food but making the portions much small as well, is not acceptable. Ali Baba's is a chain and each location varies immensely in terms of quality, size and service. This location seems decent despite being surrounded by lots of other take out and cheap eat options. I had a chicken schwarma with all the fixings. It was about a 3/5 on the shwarmometer. read more

During the 2017 Thanksgiving extravaganza in Toronto, we stumbled upon this place while looking for something yummy to eat. We had tried Ginger next door--which was AMAZING, so we decided to give it a shot a door over. Oh, what a great decision it was! The shawarma here was awesome! Fresh, savory, generous. Personnel was funny, prompt and courteous. We had the chicken shawarma and a special one (can't recall the exact name, but had a combination of meats). Both were excellent! Meats cooked to perfection, tasty, fresh pitas and veggies. Price was also right! You should definitely give it a shot if you're around. read more

Absolutely looove this place. I've only been here a handful of times, but the service is great - all the staff are super friendly and the food is also reasonably priced and amazing! It's also very accessible for students, and it's easy to grab in between classes. I haven't tried the shawarma so I can't say much about it BUT their fries are my favourite! I love grabbing the fries for a snack, however the large sized fries are enough to fill two people or can even be considered a full meal for a single person (depending on the person). read more

It's sad when the best part about the food is the cheap price point. Portion wise, you get a lot of food for the amount you pay- definitely more worth it than Basil Box next door but I have my qualms about their food too. However, there was nothing great about the taste of my meal. I had a chicken shawarma plate and everything was bland, nothing stood out and the chicken was dry. The rice was also pretty hard as well as the potatoes. The sauces were okay, but more on the bland side and was not enough to eat with the meal. I got both tahini and hummus and neither sauce could redeem the dish. Maybe I'm just used to complex flavour pairings of middle eastern food from mississauga. Would not recommend this place or try it again. Osmows and Lazeez cravings for daysss, won't ever settle again. read more

Excellent joint for a late night bite. They are open till 5am which is great for people who get back after partying hard. I tried the chicken shawarma sandwiches and shish tawook and also some samosas. Everything was great. I will highly recommend this place. Loud arabian music makes u feel you are in a different world. The short guy behind the counter was very friendly and prepares your dish with a lot of passion. Good value for money. The sandwiches were $6 and samosas were $1 each. Great food at great location. The 2 near college station is better. But this one is better than the food court at the Theatres upstairs by the food court. when I went here today, i paid ~12$ for a shawarma beef platter. The beef is a bit dry and tasteless. If you have your Ryerson Onecard, then it is 10$ for a plate. I had it on me but I saw the deal after I paid full price for mines. I asked them if they can give me a refund for the difference; They said they will give me a free drink for this time, and the next time i come back, they will honor it the ryerson deal. i don't know why they didn't just refund me... Me personally, I wouldn't come here again based on the service I received today and the quality of the food based on this occasion and the 1 other time I was here. However, I think this is the cheapest place you can get a platter for assuming you are a ryerson student. read more

I used to come here all the time when I worked nearby. They're very busy during peak times. My only criticism is that their student discount is only for Ryerson students and sometimes they burn the chicken shawarma. My family of 7 stopped by here for a quick halal shawarma lunch while visiting Toronto. The space was very clean, but a but on the tiny side so either grab your food to go, or come in small parties. Food wise, I really enjoyed our chicken/gyro plate. We ordered 3 of those, and they easily split between our group of 7. I thought the flavors were strong, and the quality of ingredients very fresh. I devoured the pickled radish/cabbage they give you with the plate, that was everyone's favorite aspect. The potatoes were soft and the meat was very plentiful. This place is right in the heart of downtown at Yonge and Dundas. Went on a Friday and as soon as I walked in the energy was insane! There was music and the employees were hyped up taking orders and singing. Had the crazy wrap special with chicken, large size. It came with fries and a drink. This place is awesome! I was extremely happy to find out that they have a discount for Ryerson students and I got a chicken shawarma platter for a great price. The platter comes with rice, chicken, mixed salad, potatoes and red cabbage. Everything was delicious! One thing that really stood out to me was the apple slices in the salad, so good! The serving size was huge and I left happy. There's a surprising number of seats inside the shop with great upbeat music and friendly employees. I will definitely be coming back here. read more
