He took the time and care to loosen up the tight muscles in my back with massage and biofreeze before adjusting, which is something that's always important to me. Nobody likes getting adjusted with cold, tight muscles (it hurts!). After treatment, there was no pressure to sign up for a long-term treatment plan, and their sessions are 'fee per visit' style so don't worry about getting locked into monthly recurring payments. Even now I live 2.75 hours away and travel to see him. It's the combination of the science of the AO Method combined with the gentleness of the Activator Method. Some people, like me, can't handle the "bone-cracker" type. Don't be confused by a chiropractor using an Activator and one trained in the entire Activator Method. There is a world of difference. He listens and keeps trying different things until we find what works best. His practice isn't a soft-tissue practice, so still keep a good physical therapist who does myofascial work, or a massage therapist trained in the Rossiter Technique. But soft tissue work won't fix anything long term if your skeletal system isn't properly aligned! There is a way to live without headaches, low back pain on long airplane rides, or a frozen shoulder! Do some reading on the benefits of the Atlas Orthogonal (AO) method to understand why x-rays at the first visit are required. That adjustment must be precise. Dr. Bolen definitely isn't a come in and get popped kind of chiropractor. For treatment of an acute injury or just long term health maintenance, it's worth that drive for me!

But he did recommend to visit for the next 4 weeks to make sure it stays in place. EDIT (for today's appointment): unfortunately I had to change this from a 5 star to a 2 star. I had my follow appointment scheduled for 5:30pm today. I arrived and texted him from the elevator lobby to alert him of my arrival. I waited until 6:15pm with no response.
