Overall this is a great little restaurant, with neat ocean views in the daytime (though we were…read morethere at night and couldn't see much). Indoor and outdoor seating, year 'round, though in Feb, it was low 50Fs at night, and we had to sit inside. As with many of the beach towns in the Cadiz province, the dining room was chilly, because it is equipped for warmer temps most of the year. They also have a habit of leaving the door open, so I was in my coat the whole dinner. :-) Our menu was in Spanish, but our waiter was helpful about offering to describe things, if certain dishes were unfamiliar. It was easier for him to describe in Spanish, so I interpreted from there. He did find an old English menu to help my husband, but it didn't have all the current dishes, so we worked on it until all was copacetic, with food on the way! This place is more of a fusion restaurant. It has good reviews on a variety of rating sites, so that sold me, though I did want to stick to more uniquely Spanish food on this trip, be it traditional or newer. I just wanted to eat the region, authentically. We tried to go with the most indigenous dishes we could. I was surprised that when I asked the (young) waiter what dishes were most authentic to Spain, he came up with things that to me, are totally American. For tapas-like apps, we had the patatas con ajo y aceite de oliva, which was very good, but looked and tasted much like potato salad (thought it might be more like Andalusian Tortilla de Patatas). We also had a salad with fried chicken poppers, goat cheese, and salsa verde, which, again, was tasty, but much like something from home. My husband had the octopus (pulpo) entree with patatas bravas. It was perfectly cooked, with an amazing tenderness for what is usually a pretty rubbery texture. He was very pleased. My seafood limitations made me go with another Yelper's tip about the beef cordon bleu (even though it wasn't Spanish), and, unfortunately, I could not have been more disappointed. It came with a very orange cheddar sauce, that was like something from Ruby Tuesday's. I managed a few bites because I was starving, but my husband ate the rest. Just not my thing. Dessert was, again, very tasty, but the lemon torte had a meringue-y topping, much like yet another dish from home. The meal was for the most part very tasty, presented beautifully, and the staff was great. I just did not realize, from my research, how fusion-y this place was, and had hoped for more authentically Spanish/Andalusian dishes.

A service so unpleasant that we almost walked out…read more We visited as a group of 10 people and the experience was extremely disappointing. The food tasted good, although the presentation was rather poor. The real problem, however, was the service. There were constant mistakes with our orders. Dishes arrived with missing or incorrect ingredients, there was confusion about who had ordered what, and food even appeared at our table that nobody had requested. The most surreal moment came when a sandwich arrived that none of us had ordered. When we pointed this out to the waitress, her response was simply, "Well, I'll just leave it here," and she left it on the table as if the problem had somehow become ours. We later had to ask her to take it away because, unsurprisingly, it still didn't belong to anyone. What makes this even more difficult to understand is that the restaurant was practically empty. Outside, there was only our table and another table with two people, yet the amount of confusion and mistakes was remarkable. And the worst part wasn't the mistakes themselves, but the attitude of the blonde waitress who was serving us. I don't know her name, but the restaurant will have no difficulty identifying her. Every time we pointed out a mistake (mistakes that we certainly hadn't caused), she reacted with sighs, muttering, obvious annoyance and disapproving looks. The constant feeling was that pointing out an incorrect order seemed to bother her more than the mistake itself. Rather than trying to solve problems politely, she made us feel as though we were somehow responsible for them. At one point she even told a colleague, in front of customers, "You deal with them because I can't be bothered." Seeing a waitress openly disengage from a table in that way was as surprising as it was unprofessional. In all our years of eating out, we have never felt like we were inconveniencing staff simply by asking for what we had actually ordered. The atmosphere became so unpleasant that all ten of us genuinely discussed whether we should stay or leave. We ultimately decided to remain because we didn't want to ruin a meeting that had already been arranged. In all our years of dining out, we have never seen a single waitress achieve something so remarkable: making an entire table seriously consider leaving before the meal had even begun. To top it all off, the table was dirty and the receipt was printed incorrectly to the point that many items and prices were barely legible. We understand that technical issues can happen and that this is not necessarily the staff's fault, but after everything else it felt like just one more problem added to an already frustrating experience. We don't get upset over an incorrect order. What matters is how that mistake is handled. Anyone can make a mistake, but poor customer service is a choice. The value for money didn't help either. The burgers were surprisingly small considering the prices, the portion of fries was minimal, and the presentation left a lot to be desired. When a restaurant charges those kinds of prices, certain expectations naturally come with them. Unfortunately, neither the food nor the service lived up to those expectations. The impression we were left with was of a place aimed mainly at passing tourists, where customers are charged far more than what is actually being offered. All ten of us left with exactly the same conclusion: we won't be returning, and we certainly won't be recommending this place to anyone. There are plenty of places where you can enjoy a meal and a good time with friends. This is not one of them.
