First and foremost I'll say it doesn't matter how good the food is if the service isn't as good or better. Our server, Scot, was even better than the food. Between my coworkers and I we had the Cesar salad, calamari, linguine negra e gamberetto, margarita pizza, mushroom pizza and a few Peroni drafts. Everything was perfect! After having an excellent meal here the last time, I decided on 8:30 on a Saturday night to visit again. Although it was very crowded, the owner found an extra table for my friend and I to sit and enjoy our meal. You heard that right-- the owner, an old Italian man, helps seat people, set tables, and makes sure everyone has a great experience; how cool is that?! Because there was a 15-person birthday party next to us, we were warned the food may take a little longer than normal. It was no problem because the atmosphere in Alimenturi is upbeat, loud, and fun. My friend and I ordered the squid ink pasta and the margarita pizza. They came out warm, fresh, and absolutely tasty. I'd never had squid ink pasta before, so I was very pleasantly surprised to find the shrimp perfectly cooked and seasoned, the portion perfectly-sized, and the pasta flavorful. Although I had better pizza last time I came here with the pesto sauce (best pesto I've ever had), the pizza was still crispy, warm, and melt in your mouth cheesy. Throughout the meal, our waiter, a very friendly and fun man, asked us how the food was and made pleasant conversation. The waitress, whom we asked to bring us the chocolate berry cake, was equally sweet and helpful. Also, definitely recommend the chocolate berry cake; it truly has an Instagram-worthy experience. This restaurant has an ambiance of sophistication you usually don't get in Chattanooga; dress is nice, and the plating looks professional. Also, they make everything in house: pasta, sauce, all of it; you can truly taste the difference. After I exited and shut the door of the restaurant, the owner came outside to say pleasant goodbyes such as thank you and hope you enjoyed your meal. I found this as a grand gesture; normally, the owner isn't even helping out at the restaurant, much less running after customers to say thanks. This restaurant is my favorite dining experience in Chattanooga, and I recommend it to everyone who wants a truly exceptional meal. read more

I really enjoyed Alimentari. The place is kind of swanky but in a casual, cool way. We decided to eat at the bar and I love the details and finishing touches to the place. The waitstaff and bartenders were very nice and super accommodating. We ordered the Osso Bucco and the Bistecca alla Fiorentina. The Osso Bucco was cooked perfectly and was full of flavor without being salty. It was served alongside bright greens and a warm, creamy polenta, which was welcomed as it was very cold that night. The steak was cooked perfectly and served with yummy potatoes and vegetables. A great meal all around. All in all, a superb place. The only reason for the deduction in a star was because there was a smell of gas in the air and it was strong. It could be overlooked by the general public, but with my sense of smell being my strongest sense, it was a little dizzying. Having said that, I would still go back and try everything on the menu and recommend the establishment to my friends and family. Note: This place offers food for children but I would caution that while it caters to children, it has an intimate feel so in the event that you bring children, be courteous to others who may be there sharing an intimate meal. read more

Food was pretty good BUT. A family was sitting on a table across from us and the waitress (long dark hair, Macala) treated them so terribly it was appalling. They didn't show up to their table so obnoxiously that the family finally left. When they finally walked out the waitress was laughing with the bartender (also inappropriate) and staff. Cocky, inappropriate. It's so easy to get customer service right, shame for the owner to have an employee like this. On a positive note, Mercedes was pleasant and responsive. Just popped in here today for an early lunch with my 4 year old. Everyone was super friendly. The decor is my kind of place... more like of a NYC kind of place. I got the mushroom risotto. Really wanted to rate Alimentari higher, but honestly, it was just a three star dining experience. The sweetie and I came here with friends before a show at the Tivoli. I'd reserved a table for 5:30 and though it was quiet when we walked in, the place filled up pretty quickly (no doubt due to the performance nearby.) We did note the cool decor and nice ambience. We were greeted by our server, who was a nice enough gal. She informed us it was happy hour for another 30 minutes, so the sweetie and I didn't waste any time ordering drinks while we were waiting for our friends. Our server wasn't very educated about the drink menu or what liquors they used, but she checked with the bartender regarding the questions we had and returned with the answers. When our friends arrived, she talked to us about specials and we actually were impressed with her descriptions-- she listed all the ingredients of the dishes with no notes, so A++! But that was the last time I was really impressed with her... don't get me wrong, she was FAR from bad, just nothing special. (She did turn me off a bit when my husband ordered a glass of wine before the end of HH but she wasn't familiar with and/or didn't remember what he'd asked for and then didn't come back until after HH was already over to inquire with him again. It's only $2, but it's still annoying. Additionally, she let my friends sit forever with no drinks... and all they'd ordered was beers. That shouldn't take that long to deliver.) We shared their crab dip, all ordered salads and salmon. And it was all good. Really, it was tasty but the four of us agreed that there was nothing on the table that was particularly memorable. The standout for me was the Insalata Energetica. I would definitely order that again if I returned. Perhaps I'll try Alimentari at lunch, or maybe we just didn't order their best dishes. My first night in Chattanooga my friend and I walked across the street to this restaurant. There wasn't a lot of people there as it was early. We chose to eat inside as it was 98 outside. I ordered the pasta bolognese and my friend got the pasta with scallops. They delivered 2 rolls after we stated we were starving. We ate those with our delicious Aperol Spritz. We had to ask for 2 more. Our main course was delicious . Dessert we split a lemon mousse filled profiteroles. The filling was delicious the profiteroles were a little soggy not the crunch I expected. The spin sugar and berries were a nice touch. I'd return for sure. read more

Alimentari has a classy atmosphere. The restaurant is beautiful and is in a unique part of Chattanooga called the West End. Our waitress was a bit rude but it was the height of the dinner rush. There were not enough waiters for everyone, so she took a long time to get our order. Despite this, the food was exceptional. I recommend the Gnocchi Pomodoro with pesto. The texture of the gnocchi was a little bit unusual but the flavor was great. The Spaghetti Arabiatta was delicious. It came with a zesty Andouille Sausage and topped with basil. Pretty spicy so watch out! Overall, Alimentari is a lively, hip joint for any semi-formal occasion that I would recommend. read more

We had an interesting and promising meal at Alimentari. this little Italian spot in the complex associated ofwith the Westin has it all in the evenings! A band, a play area for kiddies, and terrific food options! Our meal started off fortunately, with an outside table available so we could watch the world go by. Food and drink were super tasty. We particularly loved the pasta carbonara that we ordered for our son, but had no problems sneaking savory bites off his plate! The pizza with prosciutto and arugula was perfect as our appetizer. The general manager recommended a fabulous and quite reasonably priced Malbec - on the hunt t to find it at our local bottle shop - it was that good! The second course was a remarkable lesson in service. For some reason, my antipasto platter sat on the line for nearly an hour, while no one could seem to answer where my husband's steak was. As a bistecca Alla fiorentina, we knew it may take a little while, but with each pass by our table, our server was clearly puzzled too. Where are our entrees!? Eventually, I grabbed our rowdy son and took him to the aforementioned kids zone. About 20 minutes later, my husband found us. He had finally procured our food and the remaining wine to go. The kitchen was evidently having a very "off" night and lost our order. But the staff fell over themselves apologizing and even comped a good portion of our what turned out to be scrumptious meal. So, gorgeous setting, exquisite food, awesome wine list and gracious, humble service. I got to say, pleasantly surprised with this restaurant. Chattanooga has been growing and it shows with the style, food and environment that we find now. We come to Chattanooga fairly often to visit family, and we have seen how much it had changed for the better; more diverse restaurants, less chains, i'm starting to like it a lot more. This is where this restaurant comes into place. A small but super nice Italian restaurant with home made items, I mean, could it get any better than that? So this past Saturday we decided to check out the place to celebrate a Birthday. We made reservations, so we got seated as soon as we arrived, which was nice. We placed some orders in and got the specials from the waiter. We decided to get some specials for appetizers, started the the Pulpo, which was delicious, and paired it with the Duck Breast special, which was pretty good I must say. Later, our orders were placed (I have attached pictures to this review), all items were delicious and were oddly enough, you know, some pasta dishes are hit or miss, either too much or way to little, glad to say this was perfect portioned. We ordered The Gnocchi, Spaghetti Carbonara, Risotto al Funghi, Linguini Nero, and finally the Trota. All great dishes. My favorites were the Carbonara, and Risotto, both super creamy and delicious, and the best part, you can tell is homemade pasta. We finished the evening with some Affogato and Napoletana. Overall, enjoyed the experience. One suggestion I may have, is to maybe have an open house for influencers; let them take pictures of the different meals, give critique and market you that way. With this day and age, it is easier to order sometimes by looking at pictures here on Yelp, and I couldn't find any, so I think that would help the restaurant out more. read more

Decided to stop in today for lunch. Very nice, modern decor. Places like this tend to make me think the portions would be small. Odd, but in many cases true. Not here though! I was seated and waited on promptly by one of their lovely staff. I ordered the chicken tagliatelle special. Within minutes I received my water w/lemon and bread with butter. I work less than a block from Alimentari, and have watched the development of the area over the last few years, so my coworkers and i have waited with baited breath to see what businesses came to the neighborhood, and after last night's meal, I can say I haven't been disappointed. Alimentari was a last minute decision for a date on a Saturday night. I'd called ahead about reservations, and they said they didn't have any, but saved some tables for walkins. Fortunately, we'd arrived as walk-ins right at 8:30 and were seated immediately. I wouldn't count on this being a regular thing; this place has been packed every time I walk by, lunch- and dinner-time. The staff was friendly, though the bartender was REALLY SLOW. After it took the first round forever, when the server asked me if i'd like another mid meal, I watched the bartender and he was doing almost nothing behind the bar. He looked . . . tired or something. By this time the bar counter was empty and he was only doing drinks for the tables, so but even so, I'd expect him to be moving with some pep in his step on a busy Saturday night, but it took nearly 20 minutes to get my second cocktail. We were ready for the check by the time my drink came. Other than that, it was a really great experience. The server was friendly and was able to answer questions for an unsure cocktail orderer, and made the specials sound very enticing. Our food was very good, her a vegetable lasagna and I a spicy chicken dish served over parmasean rissoto--super good. And the cocktails (when they came) were really good. The best part of this place is the atmosphere. I'm a fairly recent transplant to the area and the worst part moving here from an excellent food city is the lack of unique, quality dining experiences. Alimentari has a very cosmopolitan vibe--something that I didn't know I'd miss moving here from the west coast. But I hope that Alimentari does well and is a statement to the restauranteur community around Chattanooga: yes we want better food, better cocktails, and better dining experiences. And no. You don't have to serve fried chicken or wings to have a successful restaurant in this city. Welcome to the neighborhood Alimenteri. read more

This was my second time dining at Alimentari. "Fool me twice, shame on me." The first time, the server was clueless. This time, the server acted like she didn't even want us there. Very disappointing and unwelcoming. Inattentive. It was a Tuesday night. When we arrived, we were one of 5 tables. When we left, we were one of 3. Still couldn't hardly get the check. I suppose I forgot how few options there are here for gluten free. They do have gluten free penne pasta that they can sub, but much of the pasta is stuffed or somehow not really sub-ready. Also, of the 8 entree choices (4 pasta, 4 meat mains), too many involved veal. I'm no vegetarian, but I don't do veal. I ended up with gluten free penne with vodka sauce which consisted of about a handful of penne. With sauce. And flower petals??? Had to earn that $13 I suppose. Pesto was on the side. Curious why the chef didn't know pesto is gluten free? My husband had a chicken dish with fingerling potatoes. It turned out to be about 2 fingerling potatoes chopped into little pieces. There are much better Italian places in Chattanooga. I recommend you try those instead. I will next time. read more

Very nice addition to our city. My wife and I shared a couple of lunch dishes and they were the Puttanesca and the Fungi Risotto. Both were very flavorful and the bread is something special too. Javier is the inspiration for the overall design of the decor and the wine and food. He is a very knowledgeable and friendly Argentinian, are there any other kind? First time for dinner. Reviewed menu online prior to visit and saw interesting options for vegetarians. But when we got menu there was only one veggie option, gnocchi. The other pasta options had meat in them. It's not difficult to offer a pasta with a marinara or Alfredo or pesto option. You won't lose meat eaters by offering veggie options but you will lose vegetarians without veggie options. We enjoy eating out too and generally Italian places are very veggie friendly. Four of us had a delightful meal this evening after an early show at the Tivoli. Conveniently located, and although it was busy, our food came out promptly - and was delicious! Worst service I have ever experienced. First of all, I am not one to complain or write reviews, in general. Something has to be really amazing or really terrible for me to feel like I need to leave a review. My friends and I visited Alimentari on June 22nd and all agree that it was the worst service any of us have ever received - anywhere. We were seated quickly at a table and provided menus and water. Then...24 minutes went by. That's when our waiter first came over to take our drink order. We let him know at that time that we were in a little bit of a hurry and were going to go ahead and order everything right away. I have been to this restaurant before, specifically because they are an Italian restaurant with gluten free options. I asked for the gluten free menu and was told they didn't have one but that they had gluten free pasta and pizza available. The waiter seemed irritated with my question but we proceeded to order. My husband ordered the $14 ravioli entree. One of our friends ordered the spaghetti and I ordered the same dish, but with gluten free pasta. We all placed our orders, including our drink orders (3 beers and a sangria). 15 minutes after we ordered, we still did not have our drinks. A member from our table got up and went to speak to the owner (since our waiter was nowhere in sight). The owner immediately brought over the drinks, that had been ready at the bar, to our table. While waiting for our food, we noticed that many tables had bread. We asked another waiter as they passed if we could have bread. They said yes. We waited. Our food finally came out and that's when things got really interesting... My husband's ravioli portion was laughable. That should have been an appetizer, not an entree. There were about 4 tiny pieces lined up in the middle of a large bowl. We all laughed and asked again for bread, saying that he would need it especially! My friend received his spaghetti and it looked delicious (by all accounts it was). I received mine and it looked very different. The bowls they were served in were significantly different sizes, and while I ordered gluten free pasta, I didn't expect it to be a kid's portion. I asked the food runner why my portion was so much smaller when we had ordered the same entree and was told that he would check. We also again asked for bread at this point and I also asked for gluten free bread (which I've had here before). They told me they didn't have gluten free bread. Fine - at least the other four people can enjoy the normal bread, bring that. The food runner walked away and I bit into my pasta. CRUNCH. Not cooked. Not al dente, just under cooked. I was so frustrated. I sat there for a period of time waiting for our waiter to come check on us (we had not seen him since he took our order at this point). After about ten minutes, my husband got up and went to get the owner...AGAIN. We told him about our poor service, about the food portions and under-cooked food and about how we still didn't have bread. The owner did not apologize, did not offer to remedy the situation or to switch servers but responded, surprisingly with "That's the past. I can't change the past, I can only affect the future." To which we responded, "OK, what does our future look like?" He offered to take my inedible meal off the bill. We said fine, just bring us the bill. He came out a few minutes later with the adjusted bill and he took an additional 25% off for our trouble. We pulled out our credit cards and our WAITER showed up to collect payment. We all gave him a "Nice to see you!" as he went to charge our cards. We never got our bread. I left hungry and irritated. We will NEVER go back to this establishment ever again. read more

This was an amazing gem to experience. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with smiles. The atmosphere is welcoming, comfortable, and trendy. We sat outside on the patio which was comfortable. We had two waitresses taking care of us, and they did a phenomenal job. From the wine recommendation to the food recommendation they were not wrong. I had the gnocchi with chicken. The servings are just enough maybe almost too much. Also we had the fungi risotto with steak added by recommendation from the waitress, there were zero leftovers.
