A great discovery 5 stars for my review #800…read more Roset is what life used to be like in simpler times. A corner store that is a butcher shop and grocery store. I happened upon this awesome epicerie when I was going for a walk after dinner on Maguire st. Entering the establishment they had a sign "Depuis 1947". What amazes me is that a place such as this can still function and make do in our 2015 life of 5-7 major grocery chains controlling the Canadian grocery landscape. Looking at their offering you can get your basic needs here for living. They even have some finer food items and biological and organic but they have all of what you need: produce, bread, meat, dairy, spices, and canned and packaged goods. I had purchased some Crofters organic jams for my wife who enjoys these small gifts when I travel. Also I purchased a nice Himalayan pink salt grinder $5.99 and a matching multicoloured peppercorn grinder $12.99. Great specialty items that will be nice on our dinner table. If Sillery was my neighbourhood (with by the looks of it I could live here) I'd shop here weekly as these places with the high quality food at decent prices are quite hard to come by. Really these corner small grocery stores a dying breed but a wonderful surprise to find one a nice early spring evening! Amazing it has served the neighbourhood for almost 70 years!

We live in Sillery and go to Roset every Saturday to buy some good products at excellent prices: cheeses, artisanal yogurts, milk, fruits and berries/tomatoes from Demers farm. We love our Roset and have been loyal customers for over 16 years since we moved to Sillery. The personnel deserves a special warm mention: people working there seem to be content and happy with what they do for living. The cashiers are younger girls but even they work at Roset for years and years in a row. The gentlemen in the meat and charcuterie section are all sweet hearts: knowledgeable, kind and eager to assist the customers. It is nice to come to the store, where everyone recognizes you (and even knows your name). The store personnel is very friendly to everyone. French is not my native tongue, but rather my third language and, to my shame, I speak it with an accent and occasional mistakes. But the personnel is nevertheless always patient with and attentive to my questions. I do not know who the owner of the store is but he or she is a wonderful human being and employer, I am sure! Would like to meet them one day! My warm regards to everyone working at this store and best wishes for many more years of staying open to the delight of the shoppers.

The prices were fair, and I would say on par with loblaws. My primary Issue was layout. What in the hell was the designer thinking laying that place out. Impossible to find anything and we were in there far too long. Nothing was stocked together and the arrangement seemed extreamly random. In the future I would like to see a total redesign and I would appreciate them reaching out so that I may provide further insight. The points that contributed to our overall score include; decore, grocery selection, and checkout. To expand on this we were specifically looking for decore that may draw us in or something visually appealing. This box was checked when we saw the seasonal Easter bunny. Really turned my day around and had a good chuckle. Grocery selection was great, once we found everything which highkey had already ruined my day. Fortunately, the overall ambiance of the store was exemplary with warm lighting and a large open concept produce area for a welcoming walk-in. Finally, checkout efficiency is vital and we loved our grocery bagger. I didn't catch his name unfortunatly but he deserves a raise. The blonde checkout girl and him (dark curly hair) were a dynamic duo. I would say they are compareable to prime Michael Jordan and Scotty Pipen. The way she would scan each item and he would quickly bag, was simply magestic to watch. It actually wasnt that bad, I was just hangry. Lesson of the day was, never go grocery shopping hungry. Overall would go back, with a full stomach, pleasant overall but left something to be desired.

Wine selection is very very basic, so if you're picky, find the specialized liquor store. They are open till 10pm every day, which is handy for late arrivals. If they don't carry something you need (never happened to us) there is a similar-size supermarket just across the road.
