I hired Alison and she acted as though she was qualified to do the job. In my experience and opinion, she completely failed at what she was hired to do. I expressed this to her and asked her to take responsibility for her failure. She reacted by having a lawyer send me a letter threatening to sue me over a tiny amount of money. She didn't ask me to talk about my experience, nor did she show me any courtesy or empathy. Needless to say, it was a very disappointing and negative experience. read more

There are two things I think about when I have trouble falling asleep -- complex math problems and thinking about what I'll wear the next day. Thanks to Alison, now I only have math problems to focus on. Alison took the chore of picking out a wardrobe to make me (5'1", busty and curvy) woman look and feel good about what she's putting on each day. All I have to do is look at my phone and scroll through to pick out what I'm going to wear each day. Never did Alison make me feel uncomfortable or embarrassed about myself or my choices in clothes. Alison kept me within budget and still managed to find the pieces I needed to complete more outfits than I can count and, unlike me in the dressing rooms, she never broke a sweat. She was professional and thoughtful (even thought to bring a bottle of water for me in the dressing room). She made me feel completely normal, but was never dishonest about what she thought worked. She was kind and sensitive, but always honest and respectful (and my dog loved her which always goes a long way). After researching all the stylists in Portland (there aren't really that many), I decided to go with Alison because of her website, videos, and reviews. I've wanted to hire someone to help with my professional wardrobe for years, but wasn't ready until a few months ago when I accepted a new job in a different field. Not only does she have a beautiful personality that will ease any discomfort, she is fun and she makes styling and shopping something you will truly enjoy. I had no idea how pleasurable it would be to working with her. I was blown away by her professionalism and ability to intuit my taste and sense of style. I loved every minute, I learned a tremendous amount of tips on how to assemble outfits and what to add to my closet. I left with a greater confidence and pride in who I am. I totally agree with Alison deserving more than 5 stars! I can't imagine feeling comfortable with anyone else coming into my closet. Working with Alison has changed my life in so many ways. That may sound silly but wearing clothes that accentuate who i am makes a difference in how i and others perceive me. People noticed the change immediately and 10 months later still make positive comments about my clothes and how i look. She has a great sense of style but also works to understand your style (or what you want it to be). She also understands your personal body type and is gentle and always positive about what works and what doesn't. She picks out the perfect clothes to let your best you come through. I normally hate shopping, but walking into a dressing room full of clothes that I liked and worked for me was so much fun! Also, I have a clearer sense of what i am looking for when i shop so it makes it less daunting. And she gives you a cool look-book of all your outfits, the new clothes and your old clothes and how they all go together. I had always wanted to be on that show "What Not To Wear" but without being on tv. This is like that but without a million people watching you go through your closet and doing it with someone who is positive and caring. If you could choose one thing to do for yourself, friend or spouse, i highly recommend giving the gift of working with Alison.
