Flight Centre Warringah Mall is absolutely fantastic, and I honestly cannot recommend it highly enough. When I went in with thousands of vague questions about my potentially upcoming trip to the States, the staff of Flight Centre Warringah Mall were incredibly helpful and informative. «Maybe... the west coast. But I definitely want to go to Chicago! And New York! But I don't want to fly out of JFK. But I do want to do a tour; but not a Contiki. Or one with old people.» How annoying do I sound? I was most definitely the biggest pain in that travel agent's behind, but not once did she give me the vibe that I was - rather, she smiled, laughed, suggeted altermatives, made calls for me and was just really, really good at her job. Although my primary interaction was with a particular staff member, the others in the store were also happy to comment, help her out and have a chat with me. I was also impressed by the lack of pushiness I experienced; no pressure to BUY NOW, just a calm and friendly collection of my contact details. I will most definitely be planning any further travel I have through Flight Centre Warringah Mall.

So of the many, I chose this one in particular for a few reasons. I have walked by it a few times and they are always busy. Crazy busy. When a customer comes up, they are always attentive. And when I see someone leave with their good in hand they look happy. So when I required their services, I travelled over 45min to try them out. Arriving at Thursday lunch time, I needed to get my suit pants mended by Friday. With a wedding to attend on the weekend, it was a bit of a deal breaker. "How about Friday at 5pm" was the counter offer. Looking down at the massive pile of suits this guy had to work through before getting to mine, I did not know how it was going to get done, but what the hell.... So I come back at 4:45pm on Friday, and their they are. Pants were mended so well it was ridiculous. He even added a bit of silk on the inside for a bit of comfort. I was totally satisfied and think this store offers brilliant value. When I need something done next time, I will be back.

This is a "pre-getting my clothes" back review. I will update to a 5 once I do…read more Update: got my clothes back....everything was great! Using a tailor in a train station always worries me, but I think this will go well. After reading a review, I searched for Tasanee in Wynyard...but it's really more in Hunter Connection, downstairs from Wynyard. I had 2 dresses to be altered, one just getting a zipper replaced, the other taken in. The guy was very helpful and spent more than 10 minutes with me (an eternity in train station alteration world I imagine). He explained to me why the previous zipper wasn't working (even after a brief defense put on by me that the dress wasn't in fact too small for me) and what changes he would make to fix it. After trying on the second dress, he showed me a reasonably expensive alteration ($40) for having to remove the entire seam, but then showed me an alternative that pretty much had the same affect, but half the cost. Still awaiting the results, but so far so good! Stay tuned!

You do need to book a ticket as it is a popular line. For us this turned out to be as easy as dialing 132232 and chatting with Shaun (Shawn? Sean?). Anyway, the kids were $1 each with my adult fare. That right there won my love. Three kids adds up, you know. Because the trip is a few hours, and our return left at 8:30am, I decided to grab morning tea. My hopes were not high because, you know, train trip memories.... I was wrong. There was a selection of breakfast and morning tea foods so, after a bit, we chose scones and jam. Actually, the girls chose that. I got a Devonshire tea substituting coffee! This was all delivered to our seats. Big plump scones, warm, fragrant, and fresh with multiple packets of strawberry jam and little packs of fresh whipped cream. Actual real whipped cream. My coffee was actually a cup of boiled water and a Robert Timms coffee bag! The coffee alone made it worthwhile :) Service was lovely - friendly staff, regular walk throughs to collect rubbish, clean cars. Definitely doing this again.

We arrived in Havana early the first day and did two other Cuban Adventure day tours: Murals and Mosaics and then the Classic Car Ride, both of which we would recommend. My favorite part of the trip was visiting the small tobacco farming town of Viñales. I thought I wouldn't be that interested in it because I don't like tobacco products, but I had an amazing time anyway! Although it's a tourist town, it's also got a nice, homey feel and the locals were incredibly nice. We happened to be there the night of a block party where they shut down the main street and danced all night. We also explored an old cave just a short drive outside the town. Also, we went on a walking tour of a local coffee mill and tobacco farm with an incredible guide, Floyd, where they let you try a pure, hand-rolled Cuban cigar. We brought work gloves to donate the farmers and they were very appreciative of the gift. The casas that we stayed in in Cienfuegos and Trinidad were gorgeous and nothing like I was expecting from a trip to Cuba. My host in Trinidad recommended that we check out the nightclub called "La Cueva" which is located inside of a cave. Despite the sketchy, dark 10-minute trek from Casa de la Música, the club was honestly a one-of-a-kind experience that I would highly recommend. Our guide for the trip, Estefan, was fantastic and tailored the trip to the needs of a diverse group of 12 travelers. He always had great recommendations on places to eat and organized several dinners for the group that would have been hard to know about without his guidance. He also shared so much knowledge about the history and culture of his country! I would recommend knowing a little bit of Spanish to enhance your experience since many of the owners of the casas don't speak much English. However, it is not necessary as the guides speak English very well and the casa owners are very friendly regardless of language barriers. The drink prices were super affordable so you can drink mojitos to your heart's content.

But my friends and I got a recommendation for Cuban Adventures specifically, so we signed up for the Habana Vieja walking tour with Diana and the LGBT+ tour with Yasiel, and I could not recommend them enough. In both cases, the tours were well-organized without feeling stiff; the guides were knowledgeable but also super candid and conversational; and the entire experience left my group feeling like we got more than the "tourist" view, rather, we actually got to connect meaningfully with a local. The walking tour with Diana, both with the planned sites and the conversations we had along the way, answered so many questions - and sparked new ones! - that my friends and I had, and the lunch at the end was a great addition to allow us to continue our conversations. The LGBT+ started with a great dinner and conversation - we talked about queer history, culture, and life, of course, and we got along so well with the hosts that we ended up talking about so much more! - and the "nightlife" part of the evening was easily the best drag I've ever seen in my life. Instead of the "go here, take this picture, go here, take this picture," both tours were more like, "here's a new friend who also is super knowledgeable, now go have an experience that is fun, educational, and memorable!"

In fact, customer service at Flight Centre Concord is positively average in every way. Sometimes, staff members act as though they couldn't care less about your business. I like that. Despite the disinterested service, I'm a repeat customer, I trust them. And I can't say that about too many places. The staff are relaxed, and you never feel the pressure of a hard sell. You probably won't even receive any of those annoying follow up calls and emails, pestering you to book the holiday with them. It's great. This poor salesmanship will ensure my business for years.
