Many clothes were damaged, and the tag did not mention the damaged item. I understand that items are vintage, but it should be disclosed of the condition of the clothing. The v store was very hot and packed with people. I was unable to look at everything because shoppers kept bumping into me or cutting me off unfortunately. The clothes were not very organized either. It was hard to look through them. If they did crowd control and limit the shoppers inside, I may have had a better experience. This has been the most disappointing shop during my Scotland holiday so far.

When you walk in, you clearly get the vibe that this is a university student's frequent haunt. As we shopped here, students came in and out, receive a discount, and generally have their needs met with the types of clothing available. However, the selection of clothes in the store isn't so student oriented that a wider audience won't be able to find something of interest. The first floor is more women's oriented, with tartan featuring prominently. The second floor is men's, which had some decent selections of Fred Perrys and the like. When we were there, the store was staffed just by a couple girls on the first floor, and they were pretty deep in conversation with each other. Didn't bother us at all, but perhaps don't expect to have staff catering to your every need here. But if you just like to do your thing and browse through the racks, you should be well sorted.,

I understand this is a risk with 2nd hand clothing, and places don't accept returns etc, but I do draw the line at paying ~£30 for something I literally can't wear. I messaged their instagram page about it and expressed my disappointment that they weren't willing to reconcile this in any way (I said I felt this was poor customer service) and the message I received back was so cheeky I am honestly in disbelief. They had a nice selection of clothes in when I visited today, they keep the shop clean and easy to browse and they have a sparse collection of pretty jewellery. They had a couple of nice dresses but as Oxfam is one of the more expensive charity shop experiences I sadly couldn't afford one. They were very fifties, too - dang! I always look for notable features of charity shops since their stock is, naturally, too unpredictable to allow for a substantial review. However, this one did have a large collection of old fashioned 50s children stories in an old suitcase, each for under 2 pounds. They were entertaining to read through and I adore the old illustrations in books like these. But more importantly, there was a full basket of "How to do the Highland Fling" guidebooks which caused me and my friend a lot of entertainment. I could actually use a guide like this since I can't even boxstep without tripping over myself but the pragmatic approach in the instruction manual was something to behold. I'll need to go back and buy it before someone else does, it was briliant!

The little time I spent there I was able to find some wonderful, and charming pieces of furniture and decor. Having been looking for a larger mirror for my flat for a while I was blown away when I found a large gilded framed mirror which has the Disney's Snow White, magic mirror feel. And best if all it did not cost me a fortune. In fact everything is well priced and charming. I really would like to come back here soon to have a bit more time to look around. Lastly and also very importantly the staff are so approachable and kind natured. They seem genuinely happy to be doing what they are doing and some of them voluntarily. The china section is definitely worth a browse if you love vintage style tea cup sets and staff are always friendly. You most definitely can get yourself a bargain! Armstrong's is sprawled out in a vast space, but I quite liked being able to pick through the packed railings in here without having to travel too far! Garments are nicely ordered, well displayed (as you would expect from an Armstrong's store) and have the same fun, frilly vintage appeal. There are spangles galore, not to mention a decent selection of beaten up cowboy boots. It's worth noting that the clothes shipped off to this outlet are considerably cheaper than in Armstrong's proper, with sparkly 70s disco boob tubes coming in at a fiver! They had some nice leather jackets cheaper than I've seen elsewhere, and a good selection of clothing for guys. They had some great offers on denim shirts - if you buy a denim jacket you get one for free! The shirts were dirt cheap as it was and with denim making a big comeback this season, I can see their Lee shirts selling out faster than a speeding bullet. The staff were friendly and relaxed, going about their business while leaving me free to browse. It's a bit more laid back than Armstrong's and with more bargains. Love it!

The Rusty Zip is quite small but crammed full with garments, trinkets and accessories. I personally am a fan of their leather post man bags.My flatmate loved their shoes, which were in very good condition, and not to mention affordable, considering they were leather boots. Their cashmere jumpers are quite nice, and they have a good selection of men's clothing as well. Prices vary depending on the garment in question, and their are some true vintage pieces in here. Whether or not you would ever wear them, or if you question if vintage shops are just over-priced second-hand shops I will leave that to you. I still like the quirky finds in this shop and it's down-to-earth attitude to it's stock. (they even have 70's disco glitter boots for your Abba fever party- not just brand stuff)
