The food is fresh and the staff is nice! My only complaint/suggestion is to find better food wrappers. The food is usually so hot that it melts the plastic and there is no vent so by the time you get home to eat the food gets soggy. I personnally don't like plastics melted onto my fries. read more

A good place to stop for breakfast or lunch. The food is good, but could be better. I usually get something from the "Asian Chow" section of the menu. For the most part the food is cooked well. From my experience the seasoning in the food is to salty or to bland. Other than that, they have normal customer service and also offer a wide variety of food and drink products. read more

I have personally visited the Alkobar since high school, an even now I love to visit this place. It has amazing food at amazing prices and I used to love each and every morning I got to enjoy one of their breakfast burritos before school. The breakfast burritos are only available before 11, but definitely worth coming early for. These have been the only breakfast burritos I even enjoy since I was a lot younger and that enjoyment hasn't diminished at all with time. And of course, as advertised on their awning out front, they have the best philly in town. It may not taste healthy but it sure does tats amazing. I come to this place all the time and the food is actually pretty good but it's been twice already where I ordered a chicken Caesar salad and when I get to work I realize there's no dressing inside. The first time I called back asking if I was supposed to get the dressing myself or if it was supposed to be inside with the salad. The owners wife said it's supposed to be inside and offered me a free salad the next time I came in. This was weeks ago. Recently I ordered the salad again, and again when I got to work no dressing. Keep in mind I'm paying almost $8 for a salad I would at least appreciate to have some dressing to go with it. I call back and tell her this is the second time I get to work and realize there's no dressing inside. I know I should probably check before I leave but most of the time I'm in a hurry after waiting 15 minutes for my salad and its already all packed in a bag but either way, it's their job to include it. I called and she said she'll give me a discount the next time I come in. Ive never been the type of person to scam people or lie to get free things. Shit if I'm willing to pay nearly $8 for a salad why would I lie I genuinely like the place. So when I come back two days later I start saying "Ya I called about the salad-" and she doesn't even let me finish and rudely says "alright you want another salad ok that'll be $4.50" and I'm like "what? This is the SECOND time you guys forget to include something and I don't have time to come back " And she's like "Ya and I'm giving you a discount. Idk what's happening the guys said they included it" and I was like "they really said they included it?" I was surprised cuz I know some of the cooks they're nice guys but c'mon this lady was pretty much calling me a liar and being rude. I told her "honestly mam I come here all the time (probably 2-3 times a week) and this is the second time you guys made a mistake I mean I don't have to come here" and she just shrugged her shoulders and said "so you want it or not" All in all, I guess if you're particular about customer service don't come here and if you get a chicken Caesar salad make sure to check that the dressing is inside the bag before you leave. read more

I have been going to the Alkobar now for 5 years since I was in high school down the street at P.D.H.S. I work on Velie Way as well. Great service and the owner is so nice and funny to me and my fellow co-workers. I don't eat the food at the restaurant they have. I used to eat the breakfast sandwich and it is like no other. Prices are not to high and they always have products in stock unlike A.M.P.M. who always runs out of monsters. read more

Best Philly Cheese Steak I've had in the desert. I usually get the 3 cheese Philly and bacon, damn so bad for you but so damn good too! Not the typical place I'd like to eat at which is the only downfall here. They have a table set up inside the store next to the kitchen, which is cool because you can see your food being prepared, but your also sitting next to bottled water and bags of chips. I've been coming to Alkobar for more than a decade, and I'm still impressed. I love these people, and the food, which isn't the greatest, is still just so fulfilling. They always add new items to keep things interesting; right now I'm enjoying a bahn mi sandwich - a Vietnamese staple. It's delicious, and also something you simply can't find anywhere eagle around here. Philly steak is also something you don't find much of here, but they kill it! We had to get our car smog while we were vacationing in Palm Desert, and this place was recommended to us by the guy at the car place. The inside was a little sketch, it reminded me of a liquor store in Hunters Point, but looks can be extremely deceiving. The place sells beer and soda and candy like a liquor store, and it also has a cheesesteak restaurant inside it. I ordered the deluxe, and it was cooked perfectly, but just a tad dry. It blows my mind people give this place such glowing reviews. We ordered the Mexican Philly Cheese Steak with Joey sauce on the side and onion rings. The onion rings weren't fried enough which is a pretty easy thing to accomplish. The sandwich was soaked in the sauce (I wasn't sure what it tasted like. Awful btw) the cheese was supposed to be pepper jack but tasted like American and the beef was essentially cooked down to beef jerky texture. If it was closer to my house I'd demand my money back.
