Not just insanely talented and versatile as an artist but also one of the most kind-hearted, open, and inspiring people I've ever met. I gush about her to friends every opportunity I get because she's just such an amazing person. What I love about her as an artist the most is that she gets excited about every idea I bring in and always helps me turn it into something even more amazing than I imagined. Her eye for detail and ability to work across different tattoo styles is amazing and spending hours with her during each session always flies by not only because I love watching her create, but because it's such a pleasure to be around her and everyone else at the shop. What truly sets Javelina apart from any other shop I've been to is the vibe. Every artist there radiates the same energy and positivity as Cara. From the moment I walk in, I'm greeted with genuine smiles, hugs and conversations that feel more like hanging out with good friends than sitting in a shop. It's such a welcoming, uplifting space -- you can just feel the creative energy and kindness flowing through the whole team. Even though I live in Houston, I'm always glad make the drive every time because the experience and the art are so worth it. I eventually want my whole body covered in tattoos by Cara, and we're working on it . And I have my wonderful wife to thank for finding her Instagram all those years ago, she changed my tattoo journey forever. I picked something very simple, a road sign from just outside the town I grew up in. I went into my session here not having too many expectations. I figured it would just be a quick hit and run tattoo which is always fun. When I got to the shop I explained what I wanted. Terry did an amazing job creating my tattoo! The amount of detail he put into designing it was incredible. I was expecting a green square with the word Fred in it and what he developed looked like a perfect road sign. I could go on and on and its clear I cant say enough good things about Terry and I think if you are considering using him for your next tattoo you should move on it as he is a great artist. NVS-Ink itself is a great shop! You wont walk in and find tacky walls of generic flash. The walls here are covered in art work, which I believe is also all for sale if you are interested. The nice reclining leather chair I sat in while my tattoo was done was very comfortable. I've been in some not so comfortable tattoo chairs before and its nice to know that they definitely seem to care about the customers comfort here. I cant stress how clean NVS is! It is probably the best smelling tattoo parlor I have ever been in! I have been debating for over a year whether I should post this, and I have decided that people…read moreneed to be warned. I got my first industrial pierced by Christina back in January 2020. I didn't realize it at the time, but the studio uses externally threaded steel jewelry (red flag). The picture with the cat lobe earring shows what it looked like the day of. As you can see, the bar is pressing into the flat of my ear and holding it in an unnatural position, but I was naive at the time and didn't know what this meant. In the picture without any first lobe jewelry, you can see how puffy my ear is. This was eight days later and partly is my fault as I accidentally slammed my ear into a counter, which shoved the jewelry farther in; however, due to what it looked like in the cat earring photo, it wouldn't have been viable anyway as it was too deep. Because I didn't know any better, I thought this attempt only failed because of me, which I now know is false. I had it removed by Seth after a total of 15 days. I got it redone by Christina again in May 2020 because I didn't know much about piercings back then and didn't know that she had made a mistake in the first place. These piercings are advanced and have to be placed just right and at the perfect angles, but clearly, she doesn't understand that. The picture with the green Emerald earring in my first lobe is from late May 2020 about a week after getting it redone. As you can see, again it was pressing into the flat part of my ear and holding my ear in an unnatural position. It was also pierced too deep just like the first time. I was concerned, so I went back to the shop. I remember being told by both Christina and Seth that witch hazel would help. The witch hazel that they recommended is 14% alcohol, which is way too harsh for piercings. Sterile saline is the only thing piercings should be cleaned with. At some point, i also had the bar switched out to two barbells to see if the swelling would go down and then I could have the one long bar put back in. Of course, since it was pierced too deep in the first place, the same day that I had the long bar put back in, it started to press on my flat again and made it bleed where it was pressing. Thankfully, the indent wasn't permanent in my case. I got it fixed by someone competent in July 2020 so I now have a successful and healthy industrial piercing but no thanks to them. The picture with the bright blue lobe jewelry and pretty gem on the industrial bar was taken more recently. It's almost completely healed and has been such an easy piercing to have since it was redone correctly. To add, I never saw any tools come out of sterile packages. Not sure if I just didn't see it, but I have noticed it at other shops but never here. I now go to Javelina Tattoo where the piercers there use internally threaded and threadless implant grade titanium and gold jewelry by good brands like Neometal, LeRoi, and Body Gems. They are also way more skilled, and they sterilize their jewelry in an autoclave. I just got a lower helix by Miranda, and it turned out perfectly. I highly recommend Javelina for your piercing needs.
